Refers to persons that are involved in the use, analysis, evaluation and production of media
and information.
An assembly of people with a common interest where they become the main means of mass
communication.
People are media themselves since they have the ability for mass communication.
People - human beings making up a group or assembly or linked by a common interest, a body of
persons that are united by a common culture, tradition, or sense of kinship, that typically have
common language, institutions, and beliefs, and that often constitute a politically organized group
1. People as Media (media users) - people who are well-oriented to media sources and messages
and able to provide information as accurate and reliable as possible. They are intermediaries who
provide information to lower-end media users (people with limited access to media and
information). In other words, they are the MEDIA itself as they serve as the medium for another
person to learn or acquire new knowledge.

d) Crowdsourcing - the practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting
contributions from a large group of people and especially from the online community
Examples: TripAdvisor, Waze, Wikipedia
2. People in Media (media practitioners) - provide information coming from their expert knowledge
or first-hand experience of events to the media users. They are the people behind another form of
media by using other forms such as text media, visual media, multimedia, etc. in disseminating
information and imparting knowledge.

HISTORY:
IMPORTANCE:
In every step of the development of technology and other types of media, people media was
present, they made the existence of all types of media possible. They were the transmitters
of information, they were the information sources, before all of the other media was made
available. We, the people media, created every type of media (from text to multimedia and
manipulative, etc.) - and we created them for a reason, to destroy barriers and have a wider
reach, to impart information in an easier and faster way.
