    Toilet Rim Gel HC/HS/30

    Crodasinic™ TG is a specially developed surfactant blend with gelling, flash foaming and
    perfume solubilisation characteristics that make it an ideal component for use in gelled
    formulations for toilet rim dispensers. It is an easily handled clear liquid at 25°C and can
    normally be formulated without heating.

    Crodasinic TG Viscosity modifier 12.0-20.0
    Fragrance Fragrance 3.0-6.0
    Kelzan T (Xanthan gum, transparent grade) Rheology modifier 1.5
    Water Solvent 60.5-49.5

    Part B
    Water Solvent 2.0
    Citric acid monohydrate Solvent 3.0
    Water soluble dye, preservative As required

    Method
    Mix Crodasinic TG, perfume and xanthan gum in order until the gum is completely dispersed.
    Whilst still stirring add the deionised water to this pre-blend and leave mixing for 25-30
    minutes or until the xanthan gum is hydrated and the mixture is homogeneous.

    Separately blend all the components of part B in order and add this to part A and leave
    mixing for 30 minutes or until the mixture is homogeneous.

    Additional Information
    The dissolution of xanthan gums into aqueous systems can sometimes be problematic with
    lump formation and subsequent extended hydration times. By first dispersing the gum into
    the mixture of Crodasinic TG and perfume, and then adding water, the formation of lumps
    can be avoided or significantly reduced. Varying the amount of xanthan gum used modifies
    the overall rheology of the gel. For products with a high degree of clarity the use of special
    ‘transparent’ grades of xanthan gums is recommended.

    A degree of de-aeration may be required during manufacture depending on the exact


    processing conditions employed.
