COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will learn about the laws that govern health care in Ontario and how they continuously shape and
influence governance, professional practice and policies. Students will gain the knowledge and critical
thinking skills required care to identify, navigate and facilitate the resolution of legal issues and risks unique
to health care organizations. The course is structured to help students make the links between risk, quality
and safety. Students will learn how to become proactive about identifying actual and potential risks by
applying risk prevention and management approaches, ensuring safe and trusted health care, while ensuring
due diligence.
PLAR INFORMATION
This course is eligible for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition. Students are advised to discuss options
with their program coordinator.
