a. Goal:
Every group is going to present a group singing presentation in front of the class with the assign song to be presented
by each group.
b. Role:
The leaders and the members of each group are responsible for the said activity.
Their role will be the participants in the said activity and audience as well.
c. Audience:
The target audience for this activity are there classmates and the subject teacher only, for they will present their
presentations inside the classroom.
d. Situation:
The activity requires every learner to participate so that the outcome of their presentation will be great. The learners
should be grouped depending on the numbers of the students. They will choose a leader and they will be given a
piece for them to practice and familiarize the tune of the song, then they will present it in class with the agreed
schedule of presentation.
e. Performance:
Each group is expected to present the assigned song with the given standard: harmony, originality, and proper
diction.

The folk arts and crafts of Luzon will introduce the different cultural communities from the highlands and lowlands of
Luzon. It will guide the journey to the rich cultural range on the arts and crafts as inspired by the different artists in Luzon.
It will understand how the elements of arts like line, colors, shapes, and forms are combined by the Luzon local folk artists
in expressing their feelings and of the communities. The principles of designs such as contrast, harmony, unity, repetition
of rhythm, symmetry, proportion, and emphasis are parts of the process in making the artistic expressions of the Filipino
Luzon folk arts.

Folk Arts and Crafts of Northern Luzon (Highlands and Lowlands
DEEPEN:
Luzon is the largest and referred to as on of the the three primary group of islands in the country which includes the
Luzon mainland, the Batanes and Babuyan group of islands in the northernmost part, Polilo Islands to the east, and other
outlaying islands like Catanduanes, Marinduque, Masbate, Romblon, Mindoro, and Palawan.
Studying the different places in Luzon and learn the varied motifs and representations of their own local’s attire,
fabrics, body ornamentation, accessories, architecture, and sculptures. It will get deeply understand the significance of
folk arts in reliving the Filipino identity.

LESSON INTRODUCTION:
There are many tribes with different music traditions and practices in Mindoro and Palawan. They focus on family life,
thanksgiving, good harvest, nature, as well as spiritual aspects.
The Visayas have different rituals, ceremonies, and leisures that they prefer to accompany with music and
instruments. They are fond of singing, dancing, and playing traditional instruments.
LESSON PROPER:

DEEPEN:
The Ambahan is a traditional poetic expression of the Southern Mangyans of Oriental Mindoro with a meter of seven
syllable lines.
It has different functions that are expressed in a symbolic way. The Manyans want their ambahan to be remembered,
taught, and passed on to the next generations, they wrote and carved their chants in bamboo laths using any pointed and
sharp object.
The Balitaw is an old Visayan folk song. Its meter is the same as the kundiman’s triple time but the balitaw proceeds
in a lifting and joyful manner. Balitaw has faded away by the 1930’s and is no longer observed in Visayan society although
the songs are still performed.

Cebu is known as the “Queen City of the South”. It is the oldest settlement established by the Spaniards. Nowadays, it
is considered as one of the most important metropolitan centers in the country. It is also internationally tagged as the “
City of Fashion and Designs” and “ASEAN City of Culture”.

Folks Arts and Crafts of Central and Eastern Visayas

DEEPEN:
Weaving is already embedded in the culture of the Warays and Cebuanos living in Samar, Biliran, and Leyte islands.
Their ingenuity is also evident in their basket, bags, and other native crafts.

are reflection of who they are. Philippine folk dances mirror everyday life - the moods, expressions, and feelings of our
common folks in the different regions. This has evolved in to a beautiful tradition and culture bringing out the Filipino
creativity through the dance arts.

Local and Indigenous Dances

DEEPEN:
The Spaniards have taught us to celebrate fiestas with much celebration and extravagance. Nowadays, each city or
barrio has its own local festival based on their industry or as a way of thanking the feast of its patron saint. This festival
dances traces its roots during fiestas in Bauan, Batangas. It is performed during the month of May to pay homage to the
Holy Cross: Mahal na Poong Santa Cruz.
We have several Muslim Ethnic group in Mindanao namely the Maranao, Maguindanao, Tausug, Yakan, Samal,
Javal, Mapun, and Badjao. These ethnic groups perform dances depicting their everyday lives. The movements are
characterized by a stiff but languid grace of the fingers to express feelings and emotions.

TRANSFER:
Video Presentation of Subli (Celebrating Festivals) and Sua-Ku-Sua (Dance of the Tausug of Sulu).
1. Draw from the students the basic steps of the dances and instruct them to write the step-pattern, counting,
and the dance terms used. This is also the time that they listen to the music of the dances and
discover the underlying beat,counting, and time signature.

DEEPEN:
Have you ever felt stressed and under pressure as an adolescent? Life nowadays is getting complex and demands
certain coping skills and capabilities from teenagers. These pressures cannot be avoided and worrying about them is
normal. However, worrying too much and prolonged feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and worthlessness could be signs
of a mental health problem. And mental health problems are real and painful.
In school, students are expected to excel in their studies and experience pressure from their peers. They try to fit and
belong to a certain group. They are expected to be responsible daughters or sons. They should be role models to younger
siblings and they start to make decisions in life. These expectations put the teenagers under stress as they cope with the
