Tariq Jamil (Urdu: ‫ ;طارق جمیل‬born 1 October 1953) is a Pakistani Islamic television preacher,

religious writer, scholar and a member of the Tablighi Jamaat.[2]

Early life and education[edit]


Jamil is an alumnus of Government College University, Lahore. He received his Islamic education
from Jamia Arabia, Raiwind, where he studied Qur’an, Hadith, Sufism, logic, and Islamic
jurisprudence[3].

Career[edit]
Tariq Jamil has delivered religious sermons internationally and comes from a school of thought
called Deoband.[4] He supports ethnic and sectarian harmony.[5][6]
Jamil's sermons incorporate a wide range of issues of Islam and social concern. He especially
emphasizes on self-rectification, self-accountability, honesty in social life, avoidance of violence,
observance of Allah’s commands, and the following of the teachings and the model of life as
suggested by the Prophet Muhammad.[3]
Jamil has been named continuously as one as of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world by
the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan from 2013 to 2019.[3]
