hydrometeorological hazards: typhoon, thunderstorm, flashflood,
flood, stormsurge, el nino, la nina
B. Performance Standards 1. The learners shall be able to develop a family emergency
preparedness plan to guide them on what to do before, during, and
after an occurrence of events that cause the hydrometeorological
hazards.
2. The learners develop proficiency in executing emergency
response plans through safety drills.
C. Learner’s competencies/Code At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

The learners interpret different hydrometeorological maps. (DRR

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson (or) presenting the new Review of Common Hydrometeorological Hazards in the Philippines:
lesson. (ELICIT)
1. What are hazard maps and how can these maps help us?

2. Ask learners to enumerate the most common severe

hydrometeorological hazards we experience in the Philippines
3. Ask learners what hydrometeorological hazards are their
community exposed to.
B. Establishing a purpose to the lesson. The teacher will let the students share their output regarding
interventions before, during and after hydrometeorological hazards.
C. Presenting examples / instances of the new lesson. Show a sample hydrometeorological hazard map to the students.
(ENGAGE)
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills Group Activity:
#1. (EXPLORE) The teacher will let the students track the path of a typhoon from a
monitoring data sample downloaded from the internet.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills
#2.
Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #3

F. Developing Mastery. (EXPLAIN) Let the students answer the following:

1. Describe the path of Yolanda while it is in the Pacific Ocean.

2. At which point do you expect the typhoon's path to change?
3. Explain this change in its direction.
4. Explain how the timing of landfall may be estimated from the data.
5. Make a prediction on the timing of the typhoon's landfall? (assume
that the typhoon will maintain its speed at last location and will not
change direction before reaching the easternmost landmass - Leyte)
G. Finding practical application of concepts and skills Now that the students have already learned how to interpret typhoon
data, the teacher will ask the students:
in daily living,
How can you make sense of the concept of the How will you make a preparation for an impending typhoon in your
area?
lesson in your real-life context? *

H. Making Generalization and Abstraction about the The students will share all the things that they have learned on the
discussion through mind mapping.
lesson.

I. Evaluating Learning.

J. Additional activities for Application or Remediation.

V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for
remediation who scored below 80%
C. Did the remedial work? No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why
did this work?
