Some key takeaways from the passage include that Mary was assumed body and soul into heaven, which is a sign of hope for our own resurrection. The passage also emphasizes devotion and consecration to Mary.

The passage says that Mary's assumption into heaven like Christ's resurrection is a pledge of the resurrection of our own bodies. It also says her body in heaven is a comfort and that our bodies will one day be glorified in heaven.

In her response, Mary says 'My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit exults in God my savior! He has looked upon his servant in her lowliness, and people forever will call me blessed.' She goes on to say what God has done for her.

Triduum Prayer in Honour of Our Lady of Assumption

Reciting the Holy Rosary

Hymn: (stand) O Birhen Maria

Opening Prayer: (kneel)

L. We greet you, O most pure Spouse of the Holy Spirit! Wise Virgin who sees all our difficlties;
powerful Queen who responds to our cries; loving Mother who pours her love upon us calling us to
imitate her virtue of charity. Intercede for us so that one day we may also participate in your immortal
glory.
Let us pray,
Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, we believe in your triumphant assumption into
heaven where the angels and saints acclaim you as Queen. We join them in praising you and bless the
Lord who raised you above all creatures. With them we offer you our devotion and love. We are
confident that you watch over our daily efforts and needs, and we take comfort from the faith in the
coming resurrection. We look to you, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. After this earthly life, show
us Jesus, the blest fruit of your womb, O kind, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.

P. Amen

Or

L. Holy Mother Mary, we all rejoice with you today on the feast of your glorious Assumption into
heaven. Long ago in the Garden of Eden, our first parents, Adam and Eve, were told that they would
have to earn their bread in the sweat of their brow and that the earth would be cursed, bringing forth
thorns and thistles. Now, after Christ our Redeemer has come, and taught us how to make use of the
thorns and thistles of this life, and turn them into blessings, you, like Him, have been taken up body
and soul into heaven. There, with your Divine Son, you await our coming, and prepare a place for
us. Mother Mary, it is a great comfort to us to realize that your precious body, the tabernacle of the
infant Christ, is now in heaven with Him.
Your being taken into heaven is also, like the resurrection of Christ's body, a pledge to us of the
resurrection of our own bodies. It is wonderful to think that these hands, with which we earn our bread
now in the sweat of our brow, will, because of the merits of Christ, one day, with our bodies, be
glorified forever in heaven. O most pure Virgin Mary, help us to realize this as we go about our work
from day to day. Help us to have great respect for these bodies of ours, and for those of others because
we recognize in them the temple of the Holy Spirit, and because we look forward to seeing each
other, body and soul, with you and your Son Jesus Christ forever in heaven.

P. Amen.

L. Let us listen to God as He speaks to us in the Gospel.

Gospel Reading: Lk 1:39-56 (stand)

Mary then set out for a town in the Hills of Judah. She entered the house of Zechariah and greeted
Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leapt in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with
holy spirit, and giving a loud cry, said, "You are most blessed among women and blessed is the fruit of
your womb! How is it that the mother of my Lord comes to me? The moment your greeting sounded in
my ears, the baby within me suddenly leapt for joy. Blessed are you who believed that the Lord's word
would come true!" And Mary said:

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit exults in God my savior! He has looked upon
his servant in her lowliness, and people forever will call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great
things for me, Holy is his Name!

From age to age his mercy extends to those who live in his presence. He has acted with power and done
wonders, and scattered the proud with their plans. He has put down the mighty from their thrones and
lifted up those who are downtrodden.

He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He held out his hand to
Israel, his servant, for he remembered his mercy, even as he promised our fathers, Abraham and his
descendants forever."

Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months and then returned home.

Brief Marian Reflection: by Mr. Torres (sit)

Prayer to Our Lady of the Assumption (kneel)

L. O immaculate virgin, mother of God and mother of humanity, we believe with all the fervour of our
faith in your triumphal assumption both in body and in soul into heaven where you are acclaimed as
queen by all the choirs of angels and all the legions of saints; we unite with them to praise and bless the
Lord who has exalted you above all other pure creatures and to offer you the tribute of our devotion
and our love.
We know that your gaze, which on earth watched over the humble and suffering humanity of Jesus, in
heaven is filled with the vision of that humanity glorified and with the vision of uncreated wisdom, and
that the joy of your soul in the direct contemplation of the adorable trinity causes your heart to throb
with overwhelming tenderness; and we, poor sinners whose body weights down the flight of the soul,
beg you to purify our hearts so that, while we remain below, we may learn to see God and God alone in
the beauties of his creatures.
We trust that your merciful eyes may deign to gaze down upon our miseries and anguish, upon our
struggles and our weaknesses; that your countenance may smile upon our joys and our victories; that
you may hear the voice of Jesus saying to you of each one of us, as he once said to you of his beloved
disciple:
"Behold you son," and we who call upon you as our mother, we, like John, take you as the guide,
strength and consolation of our mortal life.
We are inspired by the certainty that your eyes, which wept over the earth crimsoned by the blood of
Jesus, are yet turned toward this world racked by wars and persecutions, the oppression of the just and
the weak. From the shadows of this vale of tears, we seek in your heavenly assistance, tender mercy,
comfort for our aching hearts, and help in the trials of Church and country.
We believe finally that in the glory where you reign, clothed with the sun and crowned with stars, you
are, after Jesus, the joy and gladness of all the angels and the saints, and from this earth, over which we
tread as pilgrims, comforted by our faith in the future resurrection, we look to you our life, our
sweetness, our hope; draw us onward with the sweetness of your voice, so that one day, after our exile,
you may show us Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet Virgin Mary.
P. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

L. O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and Refuge of Sinners, we
consecrate ourselves to thy Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to thee our very being and our whole life:
all that we have, all that we love, all that we are. To thee we give our bodies, our hearts, and our souls;
to thee we give our homes, our families and our country. We desire that all that is in us and around us
may belong to thee and may share in the benefits of thy motherly blessing. And, that this act of
consecration may be truly fruitful and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promises of our
Baptism and our First Holy Communion. We pledge ourselves to profess courageously and at all times
the truths of our holy Faith, and to live as befits Catholics, who are submissive to all directions of the
Pope and the bishops in communion with him. We pledge ourselves to keep the Commandments of
God and His Church, in particular to keep holy the Lord's Day. We pledge ourselves to make the
consoling practices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion, an important part of our
lives, in so far as we shall be able to do. Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and loving
Mother of men, to devote ourselves wholeheartedly to the spreading of devotion to thy Immaculate
Heart, in order to hasten and assure, through the queenly rule of thy Immaculate Heart, the coming of
the kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thy adorable Son, in our own hearts and in those of all men, in our
country, and in all the world, as in Heaven, so on earth. Amen.

P. Amen.

A moment of silence is observed. Prayers of the faithful is then followed. Our Father is sung after the
Prayers of the Faithful and concludes with a prayer.

Prayers of the faithful: (stand)

L. Let us ask the Lord to hear our prayers and petitions. For every petition, we say

Through the Intercession of our Blessed Mother, Lord hear us

L. For the Holy Catholic Church, for Francis our pope, Jose our bishop, and for all bishops, priests, and
deacons, we pray to the Lord:

L. For the leaders of the world, that they would work together to promote peace and justice, we pray to
the Lord:

L. For our school community: that we would serve others in all that we do, and work together to love
others as Christ loved us, we pray to the Lord:

L. For all those who are sick, suffering, or in any kind of danger, that they would experience the
healing power of Christ's love, we pray to the Lord:
L. In thanksgiving for all the blessings in our lives, especially our families, friends, and school
community, we pray to the Lord:

Our Father

L. Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us sing the Lord's Prayer.

Our Father...

Concluding prayer:

L. Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

P. Amen.
