Magic ring:
Wrap the yarn around your finger 3 times, with the short end at your fingertips. Thread your hook through the first 2
loops and pull the third loop through, wrap the long end over the hook and make a chain stitch. Let the ring slip from
your finger. Now you can begin with the single crochet.
(There are a lot of tutorials on Youtube.com, I’ve learned it that way )
If you have trouble making the magic ring, you can also make 2 chain stitches and crochet the single crochet in the
second chain stitch.
Changing colours:
Start with making a single crochet, but don’t pull the final loop through. Instead, wrap the new colour of yarn around
your hook and pull it through the remaining loops.
Decreasing:
Insert the hook in the front loop of the first stich, then insert the hook in the front loop of the second stitch. Wrap
the yarn over the hook and draw it through the first two loops on the hook. Wrap the yarn over again and draw
through the two remaining loops.
Start with the colour of the body: white (Phil coton 3 Blanc 0010)
Insert the hook through the centre stitches of both legs and join them with a single crochet.
Continue to crochet around the outside of the left leg, then proceed to the right leg. Stop after you’ve crocheted
around both legs. Both legs are now a single piece of crochet. Make sure you end up with 20 sc. Continue with rnd 1
of the body.
Body:
Start with white (Phil coton 3 Blanc 0010)
Hold the body upside down, and insert your hook in the last (now the first) st off rnd 5 off the body.
Insert your hook only in the first, exposed loops.
Please note! There are multiple stitches made in 1 stitch. This is indicated by underlining.
Count from the back of the shoes 4 st to the front. Start from there and make a chain of 10 (maybe you need more or
less ch, to get to the other side, 4 st from the middle back) End with a slst.
Fasten off.
Place the safety eyes between rnd 14 and 15, 4 st apart (By soaking the back parts of the eyes in hot water, it’s easier
to place them. I use a peace off a ballpoint to press them in place)
Rnd 20: (sc in next 3 st, dec in next st) rep 6 times (=24)
Rnd 21: (sc in next 2 st, dec in next st) rep 6 times (=18)
Rnd 22: (sc in next st, dec in next st) rep 6 times (=12)
Rnd 23: sc in all 12 st (=12) End with a slst in the first st
Stuff the head generously. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Hair:
Taupe (Phil coton 3 Mercure 0008)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff the buns.
Take the photo as an example, fill the buns and sew them to the sides of the head. You may want to add a little bit
more stuffing while you work.
Make chain of 27 ch. (maybe you need more or less ch, long enough to go round the buns.) Fasten off and sew
around the buns.
Fold the circles in two and crochet the open edge with 14 sc. Turn!
Tch, (hdc, dc, hdc, skip 1 st) rep 7 times.
End with a slst in the last st.
Fasten off. Roll up so that the small loops are in the middle, meanwhile sew at the bottom with a few stitches.
