Quiz #___
Electric Field Problem Solving
Direction: Please answer the problems with complete, organized and neat solution.
1. An electron is travelling at 1.8x106m/s when it enters an electric field that slows it. The field has a
magnitude of 6200N/C. How far does the electron penetrate the field before it stops?

2. A +50nC point charge is placed at the origin and a -50nC point charge is placed at position (2m,0)
relative to the origin. What is the electric field midway between the two point charge and 2 meters
to the right of the -50nC charge?

3. Four charges, Q1= +1 x10-8 C, Q2= -2 x10-8 C, Q3= +1 x10-8 C, and Q4= -1 x10-8 C, are placed at the
corners of a square, each side L is 10cm long.
a. What is the electric field intensity at the center, c of the square?
b. Would the answer be different if all the charges were positive?

4. A 12 uC charge is placed at the origin. A second -80uC charge is placed 1.0m to the right of the first.
A third 6.0uC charge is placed 1.0m above the first charge. What is the electric field at (x=1.0m,
y=1.0m)?

5. A 12 uC charge is placed at the origin . What is the electric field at x=5.0m? If an electron was placed
there what would be the magnitude and direction of its acceleration?

6. A proton is released from rest in a uniform electric field of magnitude 385N/C. Find (a) the electric
force on the proton, (b) the acceleration of the proton and (c) the distance it travels in 2.00
microseconds.

7. Find the net electric field of a point from three negatively charged particle positioned
in an equilateral triangle (L= 1.0m) with same magnitude of 100uC.

8. An electron initially at rest, is placed in an electric field of 5.0x105N/C directed to the

west. What is the acceleration of the electron due to the electric field? What speed
will the electron acquire after moving a distance of 50cm?

9. What is the net electric field of point p?

10. Calculate the magnitude and direction of net Electric field at point p.
