Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Recall

Good morning class?

Good morning Ma’am!

Alright class , who can tell to

every what was our lesson yesterday
all about?
Ma’am, our lesson yesterday was
all about the perimeter of a plane figure.
Just like the perimeter of the square,
triangle, rectangle, and parallelogram.

Very good! Anyone who can

give me the formula of the perimeter
of rectangle? Ronald .

s
P= 2L x 2W

Thank you! how about the

perimeter of the triangle? Anyone can
write the formula on the board? Hanna
.

P= a+b+c

Very good! Hanna and what

about the formula of the
parallelogram? Daniel .

P= 2a+2b

Thank again Daniel! How about

the square? Anyone here can write
the formula on the board? Andy

P= 4s
Very good Class! thank you
Andy.

B. Motivation

Okay class I have an example

here. What are going to do is to
identify the parts of a circle. But
before that I will group the class into
two(2) and each group you need to
choose a representative to do the
activity here in front. Are you ready
class?
Yes ma’am!

1.

2.
3.

4.

5.

6.

7.
It is label parts of a circle. Just

go to the who are willing to answer.

1. Diameter
2. Tangent
3. Center
4. Radius
5. Sector
6. Arc
7. Circumference
8. Chord
9. Secant
10. Major segment

C. Presentation of the new lesson

This morning we are going to

discuss about the circumference of a
circle.

Unlocking of Difficulties

But before that I want you to

answer the following fill in the blank
questions that the answer are found
in the box. I made myself clear class.

Yes ma’am

Sector circumference center

Segment Diameter tangent

Secant arc radius

Chord
1. ________________ is a portion of a circle enclosed by two radii and an arc.

2. ________________ the distance from the center of the circle to its outer rim.

3. ________________ a line segment whose endpoints are on a circle.

4. ________________ a chord that passes through the center of the circle.

5. ________________ a line that intersects a circle in two points.

6. ________________ a line that intersects a circle in exactly one point.

7. ________________ the area enclosed by a chord and arc.

8. ________________ the centre of a circle.

9. ________________ is a part of a circumference of a circle.

10. ________________ the distance around the circle.

D. Discussion

Before we start, anyone

here who knows what is the
circumference? Genjie .

Circumference is the
distance around the circle

Very good! Thank you.

How about the radius? Yes
Grace.
Radius is a segment from
the arc of the circle to a point on
the circle.

Excellent! And how about

the diameter? James.
Ma’am diameter is a chord
that contains the center of the circle.

Very good! James. and last

thing what is the circle? Anyone
here? Christian

Circle is the set of all points in

a plane with a given distance from a
given points which is called the
center.
Very good! Thank you so
much for your answer.

This time class I give you the

formula on how we get the
circumference, area of a circle,
radius, and diameter of a circle. For
the circumference C=2r. for the
area of a circle is A= r2. For the
radius is r= d2 and for the diameter
is d= 2r. did you understand class?

Yes ma’am

Okay thank you! Since we all

know what is the meaning of what
I’ve given to you and of course you
have already the formula, now lets
have some examples.

Find the circumference of a

circle if the diameter is a.) 24cm
and b.) 28cm.
Given: a.) d= 24 cm

Solve for C= ?

r= d/2

r=24cm/2

r= 12 cm

C= 2r

C= 2(3.1416) (12)

C= 75.40cm

From the given problem it

said that find the circumference,
which the diameter is a.) 24 cm and
b.) 28 cm. First , we get the radius
and we all know what is the formula
of getting the radius r=d/2, simply
substitute the value of diameter then
divided by 2. After we get radius, we
can solve now the circumference
through substituting the radius of C=
2. Did you get my point class?

Yes ma’am

Okay who wants to answer

letter B, which the diameter is 28
cm. class this is same process in
letter A, just follow the formula.
Anyone here, on the board. Clide
Given : b.) 28 cm

= 3.1416

Solve for C=?

r= d/2

r= 28 cm/2

r=14 cm

C= 2r

C= 2(3.1416)(14cm)

C= 87.96 cm

Okay very good! Clide.

Another example class. The radius
of a circle is 4.5 cm. find the
circumference. Who wants to
answer on the board. Yes Daniel
Given: r= 4.5 cm

= 3.1416

Solve for C=?

Solution:

C= 2r

C=2(3.1416)(4.5 cm)

C= 28.27 cm

Very good!. Who can

explain here about the solution of
Daniel? anyone here, Camile
Ma’am from the given
problem that the radius of a
circle is 4.5 cm and find the
circumference. We already have
the radius by simply getting the
circumference formula which is
C= 2r just substitute the value
of radius and simplify.

Alright very good answer

Camile! Okay lets go to the
example of how to get the area of
a circle. I have an example here.

A circle has a radius of 6

cm. calculate its area.

6cm

Given: r= 6 cm

= 3.1416

Solve for A=?

Solution:

A= r2

A= (3.1416)(6cm)(6cm)

A= 113.10 cm2
Okay class, the question is
find the area with the given radius
6 cm. from the given formula of an
area of a circle which is the A= r2
just simply substitute the value of
radius from the given formula of an
area, and that’s how we get the
area. Did you understand class?

Yes ma’am

Another example class on

how to get the radius of a circle if
the circumference is given. So this
an example. Find its radius, if the
circumference is 43.96m, okay
who will volunteer to answer on the
board? Yes Gomez.
Given: C= 43.96m

Solve for r=?

Solution:

C= 2r

43.96m/2 = 2r/2

43.96m/2(3.1416) = r

43.96m/6.28 = r

7m=r

Very good1 gomez, and that

how we get the radius if the
circumference is given. What
about if the area is unknown and
the radius is given? Okay I will
give you an example.

If the is 5m find the area of

a circle.
