The Isle of Muck


Muck is a small island in Scotland, and its neighbours are Eigg, Rum and Canna. The island is
about 4 KM by 2 KM wide, with a population of about 38 people.

There are plenty of treasures there to be explored. Cars cannot be taken onto the island and the
locals only have a few cars for their 2.5 KM long road. Muck can be reached from Glasgow by
ferry. The local people know one another and they always stop for a chat whenever they meet.
Visitors can stay in the Gallanach Lodge and visit the Tea Room for meals and the Craft shop to
buy souvenirs.

Muck is easy to walk around. The highest point is Beinn Airein that is 451 feet high, which is
relatively easy walk to the top and Horse Island where many birds like puffins and corncrakes
are seen. There are also some opportunities for rock climbing, at Camas Mor.

Bicycles are an ideal way to travel from one end of the island to the other, and visitors can bring
their own bikes. Besides that, there are also water sports available there at the Gallanach Bay.
Visitors can bring their diving gear and other water sports equipment. The waters around Muck
offer some excellent diving opportunities.

Muck has a rich and diverse marine life. Mackerel fish, crabs and sea urchins, can be seen there.

At about 130 million years old, Taman Negara National Park is one of the world's oldest
rainforests. Going on a day trip is enough to enjoy the beauty of the park.

Zoo Negara
Zoo Negara was established in 1963 in Ampang, a town which is about 10-15 km away from the

you to discover. All these animal species are very well taken care of. Most of them are adopted
by companies. This is to ensure sufficient funds are available to care for them. This place is a
popular attraction for the locals with small children especially during the weekends and public

Their children can learn about animals there.

The main attraction of the zoo is the Multi-Animal Show which is on twice daily at 11am and

The latest attraction is the giant pandas from China which you can now see at the Giant Panda
