n e e d 25 d i f f e r e n t c a r d s ( w e l l ' m i x e d ) and 2b a l l a l i k e , and a l s o a p i e c e
o f r e a l l y good s t i d t y wax ( t h e h a r d s o r t ) . A l l t h e 2o i n d i f f e r e n t c a r d s
m ust be sm eared w i t h wax a l o n g one o f t h e i r l o n g s i d e s - j u s t enough t o
make a c a r d s t i c k t o i t i f p r e s s e d upon i t . S t i c k a f o r c i n g c a r d o n t o t h e
b a c k o f e ac h i n d i f f e r e n t c a r d , r e m e m b e rin g t o keep t h e wax i n t h e same
p o s i t i o n t h r o u g h o u t t h e p a e k , so t h a t i f t h e waxed s i d e i s p r e s s e d you
w i l l make A l l t h e c a r d s a d h e r e . When y o u a r e s u r e t h a t a l l t h e c a r d s a r e
a d h e r i n g p r o p e r l y , y o u a r e r e a d y t o p e r f o r m . Give t h e p a c k an o v e r h a n d
s h u f f l e , and t h e n f a n i t f o r a c a r d t o be s e l e c t e d . You w i l l a p p r e c i a t e
t h a t v/hen t h e p a c k i s b a c k o u t , a l l t h e c a r d s t h a t can be s e e n w i l l be
f o r c i n g c a r d s , so a s t h e s p e c t a t o r seems t o f i s upon one , and i s a b o u t t o
t a k e i t , s e p a r a t e t h e f o r c i n g c a r d from t h e waxed one u n d e r n e a t h , by
s l i d i n g them a p a r t . The c a r d i s r e t u r n e d t o t h o same p l a c e , t h e p a c k i s
s q u a r e d up and t h e p e r f o r m e r p r e s s e s t h e waxed e d g e , t h e n , p l a c i n g t h e
p a c k b e h i n d h i s b a c k ( a f t e r h a v i n g s h u f f l e d i t ) , he rem oves t h e d o u b l e
c a r d on t h o t o p o f t h e p a c k , t h r o w i n g i t f a c e - u p on t h e t a b l e . The p a c k
s h o u l d now be h e l d b e tw e e n t h e b a s e o f th o f i n g e r s and t h e b a s e o f t h e
thumb, and , when t h e s p e c t a t o r d e n i e s t h a t i t i s h i s c a r d , t h i s same
hand p i c k s up t h e c a r d by t h e t i p s o f t h e f i n g e r s and thumb, and p r e s s e s
i t on to p o f t h e p a c k . How y o u a p p a r e n t l y g i v e t h e s p e c t a t o r t h e same
c a r d , b u t , i n f a c t , i n p u s h i n g i t o v e r t h o p a c k f o r him t o t a k e i t , you
s e p a r a t e t h e two c a r d s - t h u s he r e c e i v e s a f o r c i n g c a r d - a d u p l i c a t e o f

a c a r d , l o o k a t i t and r e t u r n i t t o t h e same p l a c e . The p a c k i s s q u a r e d
up and c u t s e v e r a l t i m e s by t h e s p e c t a t o r , who t h e n t a k e s up t h e p a c k and
d e a l s i t , a card a t a tim e, e i t h e r fa c e -u p or face-down, onto th e t a b l e .
