The auxiliary steam system supplies steam from different sources depending on the unit's load level. At low load (below 30%), steam comes from the startup boiler. Between 30-75% load, steam comes from the unit's cold reheated steam. Above 75% load, steam comes from the unit's stage IV extraction steam. Safety measures like check valves are in place. The system supplies steam to various consumers like air preheaters and boilers.

AUXILIARY STEAM SYSTEM OPERATION
3.3.5.1 Technical specification and overview to the system
One auxiliary steam header is set up for the system to meet the requirements on parameters from the consumer. The design pressure of auxiliary steam header is 1.6MPa. The temperature is 351℃. For the first unit start-up, the auxiliary steam of the auxiliary steam header is from the starting boiler. When the load on this unit reaches 30% rated load, switch over the auxiliary steam to the cold reheated steam of this unit. When the load on this unit reaches approximately 75%, transfer the auxiliary steam over to the stage IV extraction steam. In order to prevent the steam from back flow into the stage IV extraction under the abnormal conditions, a check valve is set up on stage IV extraction pipeline. When the auxiliary steam headers of the two units are connected by the connection pipes, the units are established. And when the unit starts up, the auxiliary steam sources would serve as the standby for each other. The auxiliary steam system the main pipe system, which mainly supplies steam to the are-preheater sootblowing, boiler bottom heating, fuel oil heating, fuel oil purge and the small turbine commissioning. 3.3.5.2 Activation of Auxiliary Steam System 3.3.5.2.1 Preparations before Auxiliary Steam System Activation 3.3.5.2.1.1 Make sure the operation of compressed air system is normal. 3.3.5.2.1.2 Make sure the operation of condensate system is normal (or the condensate conveying pump operates normally and the desuperheating water is normal) . 3.3.5.2.1.3 Each motor-driven valves and governing valves of the system are supplied with power. 3.3.5.2.1.4 Check if the position of each valve is correct or not according to the system valve card. 3.3.5.2.2 Start up Boiler Steam Supply 3.3.5.2.2.1 Pipe Warm-up 1) When startup boiler pressure reaches to 0.2MPa, slowly open the startup boiler steam supply valve to carry out the steam supply main pipe pre-warming and put the drain water into operation. 2) Slowly open the steam supply manual valve, motor-driven valves and governing valve from the startup boiler to auxiliary steam header and supply steam to war up the header. Pay attention that the drain water should be enough to prevent the pipe vibration. Open the drain water valve from the pipeline drain water tank to the periodical drain flash tank, and after the chemical assay of water quality of the drain water tank meets the requirement, close the drain valve to the periodical blowdown flash tank and open the drain valve to the condenser according to the vacuum extraction state of the condenser. 3) During the box and pipe warm-up, maintain the steam pressure at 0.2MPa, and the time should be 30m minutes, and monitor the pipe vibration and the system leakage. 4) After the pipe warm-up, close all the drain valves and drainer bypass valve on the pipes and on the headers and put the drainer into operation. 3.3.5.2.2.2 With the increase of the startup boiler temperature and pressure, the startup boiler reaches rated parameters, adjust the governing valve from the startup boiler to auxiliary steam header steam supply governing valve to increase the pressure and temperature gradually and maintain the HP auxiliary steam header pressure at 0.6 ~ 1.25MPa , and temperature should be NO more than 350oC. 3.3.5.2.2.3 Open the valves to the consumers according to the consumer requirements. Pay attention that before the steam supply to the consumers, completely warm up the drain water to prevent the vibration. 3.3.5.2.3 Auxiliary Steam Source Operation Mode: 3.3.5.2.3.1 When single unit is in operation, the main pipe steam is supplied by this machine. Combine the steam of the startup boiler as the standby. When more than two units are in operation, a more reliable machine drives the main pipe and another serves as standby. 3.3.5.2.3.2 During the operation of auxiliary steam headers of each unit, the IV extraction steam is the steam source, and the cold reheated steam source serves as standby. During the unit shutdown, another unit or the startup boiler supplies the steam. 3.3.5.3 Auxiliary Steam System Normal Maintenance Content 3.3.5.3.1 During the operation, control the parameter, such as pressure 0.6~1.25MPa,and temperature 335 ~350℃. 3.3.5.3.2 Pay attention to adjust the pressure of each auxiliary header and check if the temperature is normal. During pipeline activation, drain water completely to prevent the pipe vibration and flange leakage. 3.3.5.3.3 Reinforce the monitoring of the water level of the pipe drain water tank and check if the drain water interlock is normal or not. 3.3.5.3.4 During the startup boiler steam supply, if the startup boiler is full of water, cut off the steam supply to the auxiliary header and drain the water completely and the auxiliary header steam supply will be realized by the adjacent unit and this unit. 3.3.5.3.5 During the normal operation of the auxiliary steam station, the drainer should be normally put into operation, and other low level drain water on other pipes should be properly opened according to the actual situation. 3.3.5.3.6 If the unit with auxiliary steam main pipe has any fault, put the reheated cold section to the HP main pipe steam supply of the normal operation unit into operation or the startup boiler closes the failed unit cold reheated steam valve. 3.3.5.4 Auxiliary Steam Source Shutdown 3.3.5.4.1 Make sure that all the consumers of the auxiliary steam header stop using the steam. 3.3.5.4.2 Inform the startup boiler to prepare for boiler shutdown. 3.3.5.4.3 Close all the steam supply valves from the auxiliary steam to the consumers. 3.3.5.4.4 Stop the desuperheater and deactivate the automatic adjustment. 3.3.5.4.5 Close steam supply valves of startup boiler to auxiliary steam header and the governing valve is put out of operation automatically. 3.3.5.4.6 Open the bypass valves of the drainer and close the inlet and outlet drain valve. 3.3.5.5 Control and interlock 3.3.5.5.1 Motor-driven gate valve on the cold reheated steam pipeline This valve is on the pipeline from the cold reheated steam to auxiliary steam header to isolate the pipeline from the cold reheated steam to the header.
