Project Red Flags!

Red Flags are a part of our daily work routine


routine. They bring a sharp focus on the burning issues; a reminder
of the urgency, to fix up the issue before it is too late to rescue a project. In that sense, Red Flags are
good for the project.. Timely alerts can swing the man
management
agement into action to resolve the issues

Red Flag report

Red Flag report is one of the prominent features of the


GWD Suite. It is a simple yet powerful tool to address
the burning issues within the organization. The report
presents an overview of all the ongoing projects in a
portfolio, on a weekly basis.. The portfolio manager can
make informed decisions using this report. The report
highlights:

• Status of all the active projects in the portfolio


• Site wise status information
• project reports for the week
• Previous project reports (up to five weeks)
• Red flags (issues) if any

Red Flag report also presents brief reports of all the portfolio projects. Old reports are archived and are
easily retrievable. The portfolio manager can track the projects’ status
us over a period of time and analyze
all the issues, actions taken and their impact on the projects
projects.

Red Flag report provides an intuitive interface to systematically address the red flags or ‘challenges’. The
portfolio manager identifies a solution, ‘Open’ an action item and assign that particular task to a
competent person. A notice is automatically issue
issued to such a person reminding him/her of the action to
be taken. Once the action is taken and the issue resolved, the statu
statuss of the action item is changed to
‘Close’. This automated process ensures that no issues are overlooked and that timely action
ac is taken.

Red Flag meetings

Our clients acknowledge the usefulness of this report. In fact, one our clients have introduced a weekly
Red Flag meeting in the organization. Th The

meeting. This red flag meeting process

As shown above, the Red Flag report can complement the existing processes by bringing in a sharp focus
on systematic issue management.. This process can be fully automated using GWD. This means that
minimal training is required to understand the process; and the process can be easily institutionalized.

GWD Suite 2010
