3. Explain the digestive process.
II.SUBJECT MATTER:
Topic: Digestive System
Science Concept: The job of the digestive system is to break down the food into
smaller units called nutrients.
References: Science for Daily Life Use pp 30-31
Processes: Identifying, labelling, understanding and appreciating
Materials:
Sample of food like marshmallow, Illustrations
Value infusion: The importance of the digestive system in our body
III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Reports
1. Opening Prayer
B. Motivation
1. Give each of your students a piece of marsh mallow.
2. (Ask) have you ever wondered what happens to the food you eat?
3. (Ask) where do you think the food goes?
C. Presentation
1. Show the illustration of the digestive system.
2. Define what are digestive system and its job to our body.
3. Discuss the function of each part.
D. Lesson Proper
ACTIVITY: Give each student a piece of marsh mallow and tell them to take a
bite. Ask them not to chew or swallow the marshmallow; just hold it in their
mouth. Ask the following question:
ABSTRACTION (GENERALIZATION):
Digestion: The breakdown by enzyme action of large insoluble food particle
prior to absorption and assimilation.
APPLICATION
Label the Parts of the Digestive System
Instruction: Label each box with its appropriate description from the data
provided on the right corner.
