Description
The CM-MPS is a multifunction three-phase monitor. It is able to monitor all phase parameters, such as the phase
sequence, phase loss, over and undervoltage and phase unbalance.
Over and undervoltage monitoring
If all three phases are present with correct voltage, the output relay is energized.
If the voltage to be monitored exceeds or falls below the set threshold value, the output relay is de-enegized
undelayed or delayed (0.1-10 s) depending on the selected trip delay.
The fault type is indicated by LEDs.
The output relays re-energize instantaneous or delayed (0.1-10 s), as soon as the voltage returns to the normal
range, plus a fixed hysteresis of 5%.
Phase unbalance monitoring

Description
The phase monitor CM-ASN is used to monitor three-phase supply voltages for phase unbalance, phase loss (even
if 95 % of the phase voltage is regenerated) and phase sequence.
CM-ASN: The output relay is energized as long as the phases are balanced and the phase sequence is correct
a (clockwise rotating field). If the unbalancing exceeds the set threshold (5 to 15 %), the output relay de-energizes
and the fault is indicated by the LEDs. For the unbalance monitoring function, a trip time delay of 0.1 to 10 s can
be set with a potentiometer, to prevent nuisance tripping, (e.g. in case of short unbalance during motor starting). In
b the case of motors which continue running with only two phases, regenerated voltage of more than 95% may be
produced. The output relay may not de-energize on the loss of a phase.

Description
The phase monitor CM-ASS is used to monitor three-phase supply voltages for phase unbalance, phase loss (even
if 95 % of the phase voltage is regenerated) and phase sequence.
CM-ASS: When all voltages are acceptable and the phase sequence is correct, the output relay energizes. The
output relay is de-energized 500 ms after the adjusted phase unbalance level has been exceeded or immediately
after loss of one phase. The energized yellow LED indicates an energized output relay. The switching threshold for
a
the permissible unbalance can be adjusted between 5 and 15 %. In the case of motors which continue running
with only two phases, regenerative voltage of more than 95% may be produced, so the output relay may not de-
energize on the loss of a phase.

Description
Factory fixed over and under voltage set points. The CM-PFN is used to monitor three phase supply voltages for
phase reversal, over and under voltage, and phase loss. The output relay is energized when the voltages are in
a the factory fixed acceptable range. When a voltage exceeds 1.1 times the rated voltage, or falls below 0.9 times
the rated voltage, the isolated DPDT relay de-energizes either immediately or after a trip delay. The LEDs indicate
the type of fault.
b The CM-PFN automatically resets when the voltage returns to normal, plus a fixed 5% hysteresis.
c The trip delay function is switch selectable. It can be an ON-delay (startup delay immediate tripping) or a trip delay
(delayed de-energization). The time delay is adjustable from 0.1 to 10 seconds. The CM-PFN detects phase loss
d by sensing low average voltage. Phase loss may not be detected if regenerated voltage is present.
ON-delay (startup delay immediate tripping) : If the ON-delay type is selected, the output relay does not energize
until the voltages remain in the correct voltage range for the full ON-delay time. The output relay de-energizes
g f e immediately when a fault is sensed.
Trip delay: Upon application of the supply voltage, the output relay energizes. If the voltage reaches an acceptable
range before the time delay is complete, the output remains energized. Each time the voltage exceeds the

KVM Series
Single Phase
Undervoltage Monitor
Description
The KVM Series is a single phase undervoltage monitor designed to protect sensitive equipment against
brownout undervoltage conditions. The compact design and encapsulated construction make the KVM an
excellent choice for OEM equipment.
Operation Function
The output relay is energized and the LED glows green
when the input voltage is above the reset voltage
threshold. If the input voltage drops below the
undervoltage set point, the output relay and LED will
de-energize. The output relay will remain de-energized
as long as the input voltage is below the reset voltage.
Reset is automatic when the input voltage returns to a TP = Undervoltage Set Point R = Reset Point
normal range.

Description
The CM-ESN is a switch selectable, single phase, overvoltage or undervoltage monitor. The isolated DPDT output
relay is de-energized until the voltage is outside the acceptable range selected by the trip point (threshold value). The
voltage being monitored is applied to the terminals B1, B2, B3, and C. The supply voltage is applied to A1-A2.
a
OV position: The output relay is energized if the monitored voltage exceeds the adjusted threshold voltage.
UV position: The output relay is energized if the monitored voltage falls below the adjusted threshold voltage.
The output relay de-energizes, (resets) when the voltage returns to the acceptable range. The reset voltage is the
trip point plus an adjustable hysteresis of 5 to 30%.
b
The trip delay (time delay) is adjustable between 0.05 and 30 seconds.
The measuring, output and supply voltage circuits are electrically isolated to prevent mutual interference. As one

Description
i The CM-EFN monitors single phase supply voltages for phase loss as well as for overvoltage and undervoltage
conditions. The output relay is de-energized if one of the fault conditions occurs. The fault type is indicated by an
LED.
a The output relay is energized if the phase is present and the voltage value is correct. The relay is de-energized if
the voltage exceeds the set Vmax. value or drops below the set Vmin. value. It is re-energized automatically once
b the voltage returns into the adjusted voltage frame taking into account the fixed hysteresis of 5 %.
c Time Delay
d The selection switch / is used to set the delay time of the CM-EFN as required by the specific service
conditions.
e
h Switch position ( ): The fault signal indicating that the voltage has exceeded or dropped below the adjusted
g f threshold values is suppressed during the delay time. Momentary voltage fluctuations will thus not initiate alarm
tripping.
Switch position ( ): The fault signal is issued immediately and stored during the time delay. Momentary under-
a Time function / voltage conditions are recognized but the unit does not trip until the delay is complete.
