Instructions Interstage

This is the fourth part of what has to become a 1 : 48 scale Apollo / Saturn V model.

Please keep in mind that this model is by no means a “replica”, it is just build because I like to
look at pictures of the real thing and to find out what is possible to “transfer” into paper.

Print out the part sheets on 8.5"x11" or A4 size white paper card stock.

Have fun with this model, I know I did.

Cut out parts #1, #2, #3 and #4, cut out the rectangle of part #3.
Cut out part #5 (3 times) and part #6.
Glue parts #5 to the back of parts #1, #2 and #4, as shown in the picture.
Glue part #6 to the back of part #3 matching the pattern with the cut out
rectangle.

Glue the four parts together.


The sequence is Part #1, #2, #3 and #4.

Roll the 4 parts glued together into a cylinder.

Glue part #7 inside the cylinder with the printed side facing inwards.
The last part must be trimmed to fit.

Glue parts #8 inside the cylinder with the printed side facing outwards.
The last part must be trimmed to fit.
Look carefully at the photo to see that parts #8 sticks out of the cylinder.

Glue parts #9, #10 (2x) and part #11 inside the cylinder.
Parts should be trimmed and glued in place to match the outside pattern.
Glue parts #12 (2x) together with part #14 in between.

You need a total of 32 of these combinations.

Glue parts #12, #14 and #13 together.

You need a total of 16 of these combinations.

Glue parts #15 to a piece of scrap paper of the same thickness.


After the glue is dry, cut out the parts (16 x).

Glue the previous made items to part #15.


Position the gluing tabs between the black lines so that it is
Centered.

Glue a second part #15 to the other side as shown.

Glue parts #16 between the gluing tabs already on part #16.
See part sheet #9 for a sketch.
Glue parts #17 as shown watching the pattern on the parts.

You need a total of 8 of those circle segments.

Glue the circle segments into the Interstage.


You may use parts #18 to glue between the circle segments
to get a tight fit of the segments inside the Interstage.

Each segment should line up with a black or white area on the outside.

When all the segments are in place, glue parts #19 over the joints of
the segments.

Glue parts #20 on the remaining white areas.

Cut out, fold and glue part #21.

You can leave this part as it is, or you can insert part #22.
This can best be done before cutting out part #21
Cut out fold and glue part #23 and glue it in place as shown.

Glue part #24 in place with the gluing tabs under part #21.

Glue part #25 in place.


Place the part over part #24 and watch the position of the gluing
tabs underneath part #21.

When dry glue part #26 inside part #25.

Finally, glue part #27 in place.

Glue the finished part on the outside of the Interstage. (4 times)
