Verbal Ability Test (40 Questions in 35 minutes)

Directions for Questions 1-5: Read the passage and answer the questions that follow on the
basis of the information provided in the passage.

It all started at the beginning of fifth grade. At first, Carmen wasn’t really sure what was
happening. In class, she had to squint to see the blackboard clearly. She had to do the same
thing when she read street signs, or when she watched a movie. As the fuzziness got worse,
she became more and more worried. It was important for her to see the notes and
homework assignments the teacher put on the board.

It wasn’t long before Carmen found herself squinting all the time, but she didn’t want anyone
to know that she was having a problem seeing. In class, she asked for a desk that was closer
to the blackboard. One day, her teacher said, "Carmen, are you all right? I’ve noticed you
squinting a lot. Are you having trouble seeing the board?"

Carmen shook her head. "I’m fine, Mrs. Cruz," she said, but she knew she couldn’t pretend
much longer.

At home, she had to sit closer and closer to the television in order to see the picture.
Her mother   noticed her squinting as she watched her favorite shows, and she began to get
suspicious.

"Tomorrow I’m calling the eye doctor to set up an appointment for you," she said firmly.
Carmen protested, but her mother’s mind was made up.

Three days later, Carmen had new glasses and instructions from her doctor to wear them all
the time. Carmen frowned in the car the whole way home. "All of the kids at school will think
I’m a nerd," she said. Her mother smiled and shook her head. "You look just as beautiful with
those glasses on as you do without them," she said. But Carmen didn’t believe her.  The next
day, Carmen kept the glasses in her pocket as she walked into the schoolyard. She avoided
her friends   and stood alone, feeling miserable. Suddenly, she heard her friend   Theresa
shout. Carmen ran over to the other girls. "What’s wrong?" she asked. "My silver ring is
gone!" Theresa cried. "My sister   sent it to me from California. It’s very special and I can’t
lose it!"
Carmen could tell that Theresa was very upset. They all looked for the ring in the grassy area
of the playground.

Carmen realized that she could search better if she could see better. She took the glasses
out of her pocket and put them on. The objects and people around her came into sharp
focus. She caught her breath. Everything looked so different! So clear! She looked down at
the ground and a glimmer of silver caught her eye. It was the ring. "Here it is," she shouted.
"I’ve found it!" She handed it to Theresa, and Theresa slipped the ring back on her finger.
"Thanks Carmen," she said. "I never thought we'd find it." She paused. "Hey, I didn’t know
you wore glasses. They look great!" Carmen had forgotten that she was wearing the new
glasses. "Thanks," she replied shyly. As they walked back toward the school building, two
more girls from her class complimented her glasses. Carmen smiled. "Maybe wearing glasses

Verbal Ability Test (40 Questions in 35 minutes)

Directions for Questions 1-5: Read the passage and answer the questions that follow on
the basis of the information provided in the passage

A snow leopard roars in the high mountains of Asia. A black rhinoceros gallops across the
plains of Africa. A grizzly bear hunts for fish in a North American river. A mother   blue
whale and her calf glide through the deep waters of the ocean.

All of these animals share the Earth with us. They fascinate us with their beauty, their grace,
and their speed. We love observing their behavior, and learning more about their habits. But
just loving them is not enough. All of these animals are endangered. Many of them have
died, and without special care, they may someday disappear from the Earth.

Why is it important to care for animals like   these? One reason is to protect the balance of
life on Earth. Another reason is the beauty of the animals themselves. Each species of animal
is special. Once it is gone, it is gone forever.

Africa was once filled with an abundance of wild animals. But that is changing fast. One of
these animals, the black rhinoceros, lives on the plains of Africa. It has very poor eyesight
and a very bad temper! Even though the black rhino is powerful, and can be dangerous, its
strength can’t always help it to escape hunters. Some people think that the rhino’s horn has
magical powers, and many hunters kill rhinos for their valuable horns. This has caused the
black rhino to be placed on the endangered species list.

The elephant seems to represent all that is strong and wild in Africa. It once had no natural
enemies, but is now endangered—killed for its ivory tusks.

The fastest land animal, the cheetah, also lives in Africa. It, too, is becoming extinct as
people take over more and more of the land that is the cheetah's natural habitat.

Imagine Africa without the powerful rhino, the gentle, intelligent elephant, or the lightning
quick cheetah. Once they are gone, they are gone forever.

Wherever people are careless about the land, there are endangered species.

Grizzly bears like to wander great distances. Each bears needs up to 1,500 square miles of
territory to call its homeland. Today, because forests have been cleared to make room for
people, the grizzly’s habitat is shrinking and the grizzly is disappearing. It joins other
endangered North American animals, such as the red wolf and the American crocodile.

In South America, destruction of the rain forest threatens many animals. Unusual mammals,
such as the howler monkey and the three-toed sloth, are endangered. Beautiful birds like the
great green macaw and the golden parakeet are also becoming extinct. They’re losing their
homes in the rain forest, and thousands die when they are caught and shipped off to be sold
as exotic pets.

The giant panda of Asia is a fascinating and unique animal. Yet there are only about 1,000
still living in the wild. The giant panda’s diet consists mainly of the bamboo plant, so when
the bamboo forests die, so does the panda. China is now making an effort to protect these
special creatures from becoming extinct.

Asia’s big cats are also in trouble. The exotic snow leopard lives high in the mountains. Even
there, it faces the loss of its natural habitat, and hunters who kill it for its fur. The tiger, the
largest of all the big cats, is hunted merely for sport.

Ocean-dwelling animals are in danger of extinction as well. The blue whale is the largest
animal in the world. It weighs up to 390,000 pounds. Whale hunting and pollution are this
species’ greatest enemies.

Unfortunately, it is people who cause many of the problems that animals face. We alter and
pollute their habitats. We hunt them for skins, tusks, furs, and horns. We destroy animals
that get in the way of farming or building. And we remove them from their natural habitats
and take them home as pets.

What can you do to help endangered animals? Learn as much as you can about them. The
more you know, the more you can help. Make an effort to support zoos and wildlife groups.
Many zoos breed endangered animals, helping to ensure that they will continue to live on.
Contribute to groups, such as the National Wildlife Federation and the Sierra Club, that work
hard to protect animals. You can also be a smart shopper and never buy a pet that has been
raised in the wilderness.

The world is made up of many living things, and each thing is dependent on the others to
survive. If we allow even one species on Earth to become extinct, it has an impact on other
living things and changes our world. When we mention any endangered wild animals, let’s
hope that we never again have to say, "Gone forever."

Verbal Ability Test (40 Questions in 35 minutes)

Directions for Questions 1-5: Read the passage and answer the questions that
follow on the basis of the information provided in the passage.

Much of the information we have today about chimpanzees comes from the
groundbreaking, long-term research of the great conservationist, Jane Goodall.

Jane Goodall was born in London, England, on April 3, 1934. On her second

birthday, her father gave her a toy chimpanzee named Jubilee. Jubilee was named
after a baby chimp in the London Zoo, and seemed to foretell the course Jane’s life
would take. To this day, Jubilee sits in a chair in Jane’s London home. From an early
age, Jane was fascinated by animals and animal stories. By the age of 10, she was
talking about going to Africa to live among the animals there. At the time, in the
early 1940s, this was a radical idea because women did not go to Africa by
themselves.

As a young woman, Jane finished school in London, attended secretarial school, and
then worked for a documentary filmmaker for a while. When a school friend invited
her to visit Kenya, she worked as a waitress until she had earned the fare to travel
there by boat. She was 23 years old.

Once in Kenya, she met Dr. Louis Leakey, a famous paleontologist and
anthropologist. He was impressed with her thorough knowledge of Africa and its
wildlife, and hired her to assist him and his wife on a fossil-hunting expedition to
Olduvai Gorge. Dr. Leakey soon realized that Jane was the perfect person to
complete a study he had been planning for some time. She expressed her interest
in the idea of studying animals by living in the wild with them, rather than studying
dead animals through paleontology.

Dr. Leakey and Jane began planning a study of a group of chimpanzees who were
living on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Kenya. At first, the British authorities
would not approve their plan. At the time, they thought it was too dangerous for a
woman to live in the wilds of Africa alone. But Jane’s mother, Vanne, agreed to join
her so that she would not be alone. Finally, the authorities gave Jane the clearance
she needed in order to go to Africa and begin her study

In July of 1960, Jane and her mother arrived at Gombe National Park in what was
then called Tanganyika and is now called Tanzania. Jane faced many challenges as
she began her work. The chimpanzees did not accept her right away, and it took
months for them to get used to her presence in their territory. But she was very
patient and remained focused on her goal. Little by little, she was able to enter
their world.

At first, she was able to watch the chimpanzees only from a great distance, using
binoculars. As time passed, she was able to move her observation point closer to
them while still using camouflage. Eventually, she was able to sit among them,
touching, patting, and even feeding them. It was an amazing accomplishment for
Jane, and a breakthrough in the study of animals in the wild. Jane named all of the
chimpanzees that she studied; stating in her journals that she felt they each had a
unique personality.

One of the first significant observations that Jane made during the study was that
chimpanzees make and use tools, much like humans do, to help them get food. It
was previously thought that humans alone used tools. Also thanks to Jane’s
research, we now know that chimps eat meat as well as plants and fruits. In many
ways, she has helped us to see how chimpanzees and humans are similar. In doing
so, she has made us more sympathetic toward these creatures, while helping us to
better understand ourselves.

The study started by Jane Goodall in 1960 is now the longest field study of any
animal species in their natural habitat. Research continues to this day in Gombe
and is conducted by a team of trained Tanzanians.

Jane’s life has included much more than just her study of the chimps in Tanzania.
She pursued a graduate degree while still conducting her study, receiving her Ph.D.
from Cambridge University in 1965. In 1984, she received the J. Paul Getty Wildlife
Conservation Prize for "helping millions of people understand the importance of
wildlife conservation to life on this planet." She has been married twice: first to a
photographer and then to the director of National Parks. She has one son.

Dr. Jane Goodall is now the world’s most renowned authority on chimpanzees,
having studied their behavior for nearly 40 years. She has published many scientific
articles, has written two books, and has won numerous awards for her
groundbreaking work. The Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education,
and Conservation was founded in 1977 in California but moved to
the Washington,D.C., area in 1998. Its goal is to take the actions necessary to
improve the environment for all living things.

Dr. Goodall now travels extensively, giving lectures, visiting zoos and chimp
sanctuaries, and talking to young people involved in environmental education. She
is truly a great conservationist and an amazing human being.

Students Select in interview=37(I am one of them)

Selection Process:

Written Test:

Reasoning
I could not remember clearly but sure they are easy but the thing is that you have
less time. There are 5 questions on photograph problems in which five different
pictures are given the odd one is asked to find out. And also there are 5 questions
on a graph. And the remaining questions are also easy.

English
This paper has 2 paragraph questions each having 5 questions. One of them is a big
parameter and other a little bit shorter one.  And a few questions on sentence
correction. Fill in the Blanks: Gain a details idea on preposition, phrase etc. The
result was announced after 3-4 hours. Selected students were asked to wait for the
interview.

HR Interview:
I was in the two persons’ panel. And I was interviewed two times. I advise you
should be fully aware of what you have written in your CV.

Dress formally and look presentable for the interview. Remember the interviewer
will be watching you from the moment you enter the room. Be cool. Listen to them
obediently. Do not be in a hurry to answer the questions. They may complement
your answers if they wish.

First interview:
I asked may I come in madam. She gave the permission. I stood for a few seconds.
Then she asked me to sit. She asked general questions at the first like about our
family, and my high school etc. Then she asked me to explain my plus points with
example. I wrote that I had organized a college day function, so she asked me how
I organized the program. She expected very detailed answer from me. I tried to the
maximum extent. She then told me how to organize clearly and she added more
points to my view.  So many questions were asked on teamwork and leadership.

Second interview:
After Completing the first interview one interviewer told me “ Balakrishna, we are
very sorry, Please wait for some time outside, we may call you again. ” Second
person Is a gent. He has more concentrated on eye to eye contact. He started with
the question “What questions did madam asked you?”. I told a few questions. He
was noting down some thing on the paper while I was answering. He too asked how
can I organize a quiz program in which we have to invite two other colleges. I tried
my level best.

Final two questions are:
Hr: What will you do if I won’t hire you?

Me: I will improve my skills and I will attend all I opportunities as my aim is to
become a software engineer.

Hr: No more questions to ask you. You may leave the hall.

also get selected in Infosys.
Waiting for joining date.

Infosys paper 2010.

This is Raman Kumar from Noida. I am 2009 MCA passed out from ABES
Engineering College, Ghaziabad.

Friends it was the off-campus drive. The Written test was on 29th August. Aptitude
paper of Infosys are little bit tough in compare to others.

This was my second attempt for Infosys, First was when i was in College (On
Campus) in 2008.

I have already listened many times that If you can Clear the Written Exam of
Infosys it means you have made it upto 70%. In the Interview, you just need to be
active. So I prepared for the same. Before written exam, a Pre-Placement talk was
scheduled but later on cancelled due to heavy rush and less space.

Important points to clear the written exam:

1. R.S. Aggarwal is good enough for preparation of written exam.
2. A week's prepration can make you through. But you have to practice it seriously.
3. Time management is the biggest factor.
4. Follow the rules defined by Infosys. They are the company of etiquettes.
5. Philosophical (from me): Make your Desire really strong and also provide the
actions that can match your desire. When you are appearing for the test then forget
all the world just go into it.

Written Exam:

There were two sections

1. Aptitude and Logical reasoning (30 questions, 30 minutes)

2. English ( 35 questions, 40 minutes)

Aptitude and Logical reasoning:

I don't remember the exact questions. But I remember the topics

1. Problems on Ages
2. Time and Work (Questions like- A can do this in 8 hrs and b can in 10 hrs, then
A+B?)
3. Percentage
4. Puzzles
5. Logical Problems
6. Numbers
7. Missing figure
8. Data sufficiency

English:

1. Paragraph
2. Inferences (Select the sentence that doesn't match)
3. Sequesnces of Sentences according to priority
4. Correct the sentence
5. Other Grammer

Practice all the above topics. All type of questions at least once.

When I was doing the Written Exam, I felt - Thank God I have spent last two days
in the prepration because my preparation for the exam was really helping me. After
submitting the test, I was confident and feeling that I'll clear but I was continuously
asking God for his grace and help.

We had to wait for a long time for the results. Near about 5 p.m. in the evening
they announced.

All the sheets were passing out and I was hungry to listen my name. Then the
person who was announcing the result spoke "This is the Last Sheet and only 10
candidates on it." On the 5th number he announced "Raman Kumar".

I had cleared the written exam. They told us Interview dates and Venue will be
informed us by mail. 170 students were selected from the interview.

Interview:

I got the mail for Interview. My Interview held on 16th September at Nehru Place,
New Delhi.

Note: Infosys interviewers are really experienced persons. There were lots of Old
age persons in the panel. They really notice your etiquettes. Be Polite. They are
Nice people. Main thing is that they are questioning to hire you not to reject you.
Give then Good response and you'll be picked up. Show them your learning ability.
Show them your way of problem solving.

Read Puzzles before going into the Interview.

My Interview:

I was sitting in the waiting room. An old persons called my name and told me to
wait outside the room.
After some wait, they called me inside.

They were Two persons. Both were aged ones. really experienced.

Me: May I come In, Sir?
HR: Yes, please.
I entered and shut the door very softly that it didn't make any noise and stood by
the chair.

HR: Have a seat.
Me: Thank you, sir. and sat down ( By following the way in which we should sit in
front of them (straight)& with positive body language)

They read my resume for some time and I was expecting that there first question
will be "Some thing about yourself" and I was preparing for this one. But they
shocked me by asking an UnExpected question as technical first one.

HR: For How long you lived in Punjab?
Me: Pardon sir?

HR: For How long you lived in Punjab?(They repeated)
Me: Told

HR: What your father's occupation
Me: Told (Shopkeeper and Milkman)

HR: Ok. (silence for a moment) so Raman in which company you are working
Me: Told

HR: Something about the Company?
Me: Told enough  described the company's domain and strength and clients.

HR:  About the project in which you are working?
Me: I described the project in detail. I spoke for nr about 2 mins. They were
noticing my way of presentation. When i stopped, I noticed i have described it
nicely. Main thing was the selection of words and terms that you use. They want to
check your presentation.

(Then they asked so many question from that description)

HR: Have you faced or stuck to any problem while working on this project?
Me: Yes sir

HR: Which type of problem and how did you solve it?
Me: (They want to know your way of handling the problems - Be ready for this) -
Told - ( I gave them an Example of Regular Expression)- Guys , Please use the
Examples while answering - Real Life Examples.

Now, again they started to read my Resume and started picking questions from
there. Guys, Telling you honestly. You must read your resume and prepare for
everything that you have written in technical Resume. OR You must write the things
in the resume that you know and you can describe very well.

HR: Raman, You have written here you have participated in functions? can you tell
us what type of functions? What happened there?
Me: Told (Given the example of Quiz Competition and Speech Competition that i
really participated in during my School and College time)

HR: Have you organized any Function as a leader?
Me: Yes sir.

HR: Tell us something about that Event and Your Team? How did you moralized
your team?
Me: Told. I explained them by speaking the same wording that a captain should
speak to his team before a Match.

HR: Have you faced any problem while the function was going on and you were
hosting the stage and how did you handled it at a time?
Me: Explained the problem with a real Example and Told them how i managed the
situation without letting anyone know.

HR: Define us more? ( They just wanted to check my Communication and
Presentation)
Me: Explained.

HR: One more question from my Resume from my Interests that were written in
Resume
Then
HR: (Again the Question from my Hobbies and Interests) Why Adventure is your
Hobby?

Me: Explained well and ended with a 'Quote' that I read in my English literature
book in my Graduation time.
(Telling you Guys, that was a Punch, a Shot)
That quote also ended the Interview.

HR: Ok, Raman thats it from our side and (Silence)
Me: Should I leave , Sir?

HR: Yes.
Me: I stood up and thanked both of them Individually. They smiled. One of them
was noticing me when I was going out of the room and closing the door.

( We were told that results would be sent to your mail)

After a long wait. After two Months and 7 days I got the call from Infosys that I got
selected and then in the evening they sent the Offer Letter. (Yipppeee!) I thanked
God for his grace and also a Big thanks to Freshersworld.com as old papers
helped me a lot.

I am going to Join Infosys on 24th January.

Best of Luck, friends. Feeling happy to share the experience with all of you!
See you there in Infosys!

Test Paper :11

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 11  September  2010
 Test Location  : Kolkata
 Posted By        : Samrat Sinha

Hello Friends,

I am Samrat Sinha of BITM, Santiniketan, West bengal. I hope my Infosys selection

procedure will be of some help for you. Infosys organised a off-campus recruitment
in Kolkata on 11th September 2010.
There were around 1200 students apperaing for that recruitment drive that day.
The aptitude paper was easy comapred to other companies and guys do keep in
mind there is no negative marking, so first answer those questions of which you are
sure of and then just tick the others as well. For the aptitude test, practising
Quantitative Aptitude & Verbal & Non-Verbal reasoning both by R.S. Aggarwal will
be enough.

The paper was divided into two parts, first quantitative & then Verbal and non-
verbal. There were questions on puzzles, syllogism, antonyms and synonyms,
comprehension. Luckily i cleared the aptitude and was called for interview the very
next day.

Below is my Interview experience:

Date: 12th September 2010.

The HR was around 50 years old.

Me: Good afternoon Sir

HR: Good afternoon, have a seat.

Me: Thank you Sir.

HR: So, Samrat tell me about yourself.

Me: I just gave a normal introduction of my family background, education

background.
HR: What is the meaning of your name?

Me: Answered.
HR: Can you name any emperor?

Me: Sure Sir, Samrat Ashoka.

HR: He was of which dynasty?

Me: Answered.
HR: OK Samrat, how is the day for yoy?

Me: Answered fluently that today is a very special day for me as i am siting here,
giving interview for such a reputed company and etc etc.
HR: How was yesterday then?

Me: Yesterday was also very special as i cleared the aptitude test etc etc.
HR: Nothing about the food that you had, the weather

Me: Sir, yesterday and today are special for me only because of Infosys otherwise it
would have just been a normal day for me.
HR: Ok. Tell me about your project.

Me: Gave an overview of the project.

HR: Why this project?

Me: Gave sum justified reasons.

HR: Suppose you have 12 days to prepare for CAT, how will you do it?
Me: Sir, if i have just 12 days then first of all i would try to get the knowledge of
the CAT question paper and then suppose if there are two topics, Quantitative &
verbal and non-verbal then i will devote 5 days each to them and i will keep the last
two days for practising previous year papers so that i get acquainted with them.
HR: Ok Samrat you can leave now.

Me: Thank you Sir. It was a pleasure to interact with you.

HR: Same here.
Then the officials announced that the result will be communicated via email very
shortly. But they took exactly two months. On 12th November, i got the offer letter
from Infosys. Guys just be confident during the interview and give your full effort
for aptitude paper because there is no technical round in Infosys.

Wishing you all the best in your respective lives.

Hi Friends,

This is Surya prakash choudhary from B.I.E.T Suri(west bengal). I took party in off-
campus conducted by Infosys technologies. There was no negative marking.

There were two papers.

Paper 1(40 questions, 40 minutes).
paper 2(35 questions ,30 minute).

In paper 1 there were logical, quantitative, Verbal  and Non Verbal reasoning
questions. 5 problems from figure type odd one out reasoning(they wer easy). 5
problems from  Data Interpretation(they we also easy). There were 5 logical
probs  based on some facts, they were somewhat difficult, I coluldn’t do those
probs But guessed one single option. There were 5 problems Based on some facts, I
also couldn’t do that due to lack of time and guessed. There were some more
logical problems, you can practice them from R.S. Aggarwal.

One suggestion you don’t need 2 worry about shakuntala devi puzzle or summers
puzzles because I couldn’t find problemss from there. You just practise different
types from R.S Aggarwal and most important thing you should know various types
only, by cool mind you can solve any problem.

Paper 2 was English knowledge test, there were 2 comprehension one very easy
and one difficult(total 10 questions). There were sentence completion
question(mainly from preposition, article, verb etc). There were also sentence
correction questions. So, friends  you need to manage year time well and year Level
of English.

About 1500 hundred students appeared for the test from various colleges of West
Bengaland out of them 393 cleared aptitude round. As usual they didn’t ask any
technical question in interview. I went here with cool mind and they told that they
will send final results via email. Still waiting for confirmation but I'm sure that I will
must be selected, hope this experience may help you guys in clearing aptitude
round because aptitude round is the main elimination round in infosys. See you
guys in infosys soon.

HR: So Surya, tell me something about your project.
ME: I explained well.

HR: What was the most interesting in your project?
ME: I explained.

HR: Tell me something about your family background

Me: Told

HR: Asked many questions from resume. I had mentioned quiz so he asked 4-5 G.K
questioned and luckily I answered and at last he told me nice 2 meet you and you
can leave now.

Test Paper :14

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 11  September  2010
Test Location  : Heritage Institute of Technology
 Posted By        : Sourya
Hope you are all doing great in life Friends   ,
I would like   to share my experience with all who happen to browse through this beautiful
and should. I add a very informative website   for freshers like me

I hope my experience in the aptitude and HR round might help you all in some way.

Students from many engineering   colleges in West Bengal attended this campussing. The
venue was Heritage institute of technology and the whole process took place through 2 days
(11th and 12th September).

As most of you know, Infosys has two different sections in their aptitude test

1) One was the Reasoning aptitude test(30 questions which included data interpretation,
logical reasoning,  pictorial puzzles, basic derivative mathematical problems)

2) Another part was the Verbal  aptitude test(40 questions which included 2 long passages,
sentence correction, fill in the blanks with appropriate words, replace a part of a sentence
with the correct verbal phrase)

No negative marking in either of the sections, but I am not sure whether there are sectional
cut-offs. So be sure to attempt all the questions in both sections, don’t dawdle with one
question if you don’t know it. Be sure to pass one to the next one, remember in such little
time utilizing every minute is very very important. Even 1 correct or 1 wrong answer could
make the difference.

It is a very thin line that might help you to nail the job or get yourself nailed.

Total students appeared Approx 2000
Shortlisted for HR  390

This Aptitude rounds are the ones where a staggering 1600 students got eliminated, which in
this case amounts to 80% of the strength
My interview was a 1:1 panel. Trust me when I tell you that Infosys HRs are very frank and
cool.

I entered the room after asking for permission (always ask for permission before you step in)
Me: may I come in sir
HR: yes, please come in

The HR was sitting in his chair, so I reached out spontaneously for a handshake and greeted
him a very good morning. He looked up to me and extended his hand very pleasingly and
smiled and replied good morning. Many say that you shouldn’t extend your hand first for the
handshake if the HR doesn’t. But many think that’s rubbish and i too share the same opinion.
Shaking the hand is a way of showing courtesy and greeting the person. It also shows that
you are not nervous and you are confident, so it helps in creating a good positive impression
about you in the HR’s mind even before the interview has begun. A good firm (not bone-
crushing) handshake acts like a pleasant stimulator.

HR: please take the seat

Me: (while taking my chair) thank you so much
I kept my hands on the table and sat leaning forward, when the HR said please sit back in
your chair and relax Sourya. So I did that
And then he asked me How was yesterday Sourya?
Me:  Sir, it was fine
HR: describe yesterday
Answered

HR: how do you approach a problem?
Answered

HR: what projects have you done?
Answered

HR: how do you prepare for your exams?
Answered

HR: suppose you had 15 days left for your final semester exams, how would you prepare
yourself?
Answered

HR: tell me about your project?
Answered

HR: tell me about your family background?
Answered

HR: So, you are the only son of your parents
ME: yes, sir, I am the only son

HR: How many were there in your project group?
Answered

HR: Thank you
ME: thank you very much Sir

And left the room, the questions he asked were very innocent questions, atleast they may
look like innocent, but the HR comes to know a lot about you from these very basic
questions, be very honest and confident. It’s obvious to be a bit nervous and make some
mistakes as a fresher.
But just focus that you don’t create a negative impression to the HR.

Test Paper :16

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 17  January  2010
Test Location  : Vasavi College of Engineering
 Posted By        : Roja.I

Hi Friends,

I'm Roja from Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad. Recently Infosys visited
our campus on Jan 17th. First we have a test at 10 a.m. It went on for 70 min.
Then have pre-placement talk by them.
The test pattern is like. It includes 2 sections.
First the aptitude and then the verbal section.

The Aptitude paper includes
1. (1-5) questions a puzzle is given. It goes on like, A, B, C, D, E, F bought a bike
each on each of the days from Monday to Saturday, no two buy the bike on same
day and some 6 conditions are given. Sorry I don't remember all those but if you
follow that conditions you can easily solve it. I suggest you to do Puzzle test
exercise from Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal.

2. (6-10) questions. Finding the odd figure out. These are so easy. Just follow
R.S.Aggarwal same book.

3. (11-15) questions. Problems based on Data sufficiency. These are also from the
same book mentioned above.

4. (16-20) questions. Data interpretation. A table of values are given and
accordingly the questions are given. For this, follow Quantitative Aptitude by R.S.
Aggarwal

5. (21-25) questions Again a puzzle is given. Similar to the first one.

6. (26-30) questions Syllogisms for this follow R.S. Aggarwal Verbal and non-verbal
Reasoning. Logic do 1B exercise in that unit.

The Verbal Section includes
1. Two big RCs, and 10 questions are given on that. I suggest you to do them at
last. First read the questions and see the passage, then it will be easy.

2. Then sentence completion questions.

3. Theme detection.
4. Deriving Conclusion from passages.
In our college 209 out of 362 are selected for written and we have HR.

MY HR Interview:
Me: May i come in ma'am?
Hr: Yes come Roja. Take your seat ( gave handshake )

Me: Thank you ma'am.
Hr: You should i hire you in my company?

Me: Blah..Blah..Blah..
Hr: Tell me about your mini project?

Me: Said.
Hr: Tell me about your main project?

Me: Said.
Hr: What are your extra curricular activities??

Me: Said.
Hr: Did u organize any events in your college?

Me: Said.
Hr: What is your goal?

Me: Said.
Hr: (asked about my paper presentation in my resume)
Hr: Ok Roja, any questions??

Me: No ma'am.
Hr: OK all the best( And again a handshake)

Me: Thanks ma'am.
Then they wanted to give the result along with Wipro. I was tensed for about 15
days. Finally they gave the result on Jan 31st, 2010. 174 out of 209 was taken.
Luckily, i was one of them.

Thanks to Freshersworld.
I wish you all the Best.

Be prepared to become an Infoscian.

Good Luck.

Test Paper :17

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 22  January  2010
 Test Location  : SVITS, Indore
 Posted By        : Deepak Ojha

Infosys paper on 22nd Jan 2010 at Indore.

Hi Friends,

I am Deepak Ojha from svits, Indore. There was a campus drive by Infosys in our
college campus on 22nd Jan 2010. Their eligibility criteria is 60% for class 10th and
12th,65% for B.E. (Guys beware it is avg. marks not the aggregate) and they are
very much strict about their criteria, even 64.99 % is not allowed. About 180
eligible students appeared for the written test of infosys.

And friends good news that i'm the one of lucky one to get chance to take training
from Mysore training center, the largest corporate university in the world.

Statistic:
Total Students: 180
Students who cleared Aptitude Test: 71(Be careful huge reduction in this section)
Students Select in interview: 55(I am one of them)

Some key points:
1. If you clear the written, there are 90% chances of selection.
2. Always reply in interview with full confidence and preferably by taking an
example.

Selection Procedure:
Infosys is such a company where there is no barrier in stream. That means
students from any stream can sit in Infosys. There are no direct Technical round in
Infosys.
The whole Selection Process contains two section aptitude test.
Analytical & Logical reasoning i.e. aptitude test:(30 questions: 40 minutes)
English/verbal section: (40 questions: 35 minutes)
Friends they will not tell about any sectional cut off be careful about section cutoff,
but I think that there might be a sectional cutoff, so do well in both sections to
ensure your selection. After Aptitude test HR interview.

Study Materials for aptitude test:
Verbal & Non verbal R.S. Agarwal, Quantitative aptitude R.S. Aggarwal.
Some Time’s/PT's CAT study materials. And ofcourse last but not least
Freshersworld (Be Regular & update with this site, You will get really very help)

Analytical & Logical reasoning:
Friends the order of questions are as follows(There is no negative marking)
Questions 1-5  are based on ranks. They are very much easy and can be solved
within 5 minutes.
Questions 6-10 on choose the odd man out from the figure series (some are easy
some are moderate)
Questions 11-15 based on normal mathematics. (I do not remember them properly)
Questions 16-20 based on pie chart, a very easy one
Questions 21-25 based on a puzzle. Puzzle is like that "there are 5 persons in the
family a, b, c, d, e and they are Farmer, Doctor, Trader, Lawyer, Engineer and we
have to find the correct match for each a, b, c, d, e based on some more info
given".
Questions 26-30 based on syllogisms.

English/verbal Section:
Friends do this section with a very cool mind because time given for this is less.
Two passages and 5 question from each passages: Do it at the last and before
reading the passage see the question one time.
Sentence Correction: Be care about tense mistake, spelling mistake, using of
pronoun.
Fill in the Blanks: Gain a details idea on preposition, phrase, idioms.
Theme Detection.
Identification of some supporting or weakening sentences about a paragraph given

HR Interview
Now the final section. The only one solution to crack the interview is keeping
yourself cool. Friends believe me the Infosys HR panel are the coolest person in the
world (At least for my panel). And always think that they are taking your Interview
to select you, not to reject you. Be friendly, polite with them and follow the proper
etiquettes.
My HR panel consists of one person. He is of around 55-60 years of age. He is too
good and very friendly.

Interview
Me: May I come in sir?
HR: Yes, please come in, have a seat.
Then he stood up and shake hands with me.

Me: Thank you sir.
HR: Ok tell me something about your routine work?
Me: I told
HR: How you prepare for your exams. Tell me the whole process by taking an
example.

Me: I told
HR: Do you have given any paper presentation?
Me: Told with the example of instance when i gave the seminar?
HR: Are you a good leader?

Me: Yes, I am and explain this by taking the examples of my projects and
difficulties encountered in that and how i overcome that and accomplish the project
successfully.
HR: Ok, Deepak do you read books?
Me: Yes sir, and told the name of books that i read and how they benefited me.
HR: Then he asked me about my family and just a casual talk after that.
HR: Ok, Deepak nice to talk you.
At last, he stood up and shook hands with me.
then i gently stood up and say.

Me: Thank you sir and have a nice day
My interview was good and i'm quite sure that, i'm through and got selected in my
dream company. It was like a dream comes true.

Ok, my friends so this is my story that how i cracked the infosys. Meet you at
Mysore.
Good bye and Have Good Luck.

Test Paper :18

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 7  January  2010
 Test Location  : COER, Roorkee
 Posted By        : Rahul Kumar
Hello Friends,

This is Rahul Kumar from FET, GKV and I was selected by Infosys on 7th Jan 2010,
through pool campus recruitment conducted in COER, Roorkee.

The whole procedure was as follows:
1) Pre-Placement talk
2) Written test (Analytical thinking and logical Reasoning + Verbal ability test
(English))
3) Interview

1) Pre-Placement talk: Do listen to it carefully friends because it helps you to know
what kind of ppl. Infosys is looking for and helps you to prepare better for
interview.
2) Written test comprised of 2 pprs.

i) Reasoning section: It comprised of 30 questions in 40 mins. Containing 2
puzzles with 5 questions each. 5 figurative series questions, 5 questions from data
sufficiency, 5 questions from the. In Syllogism each. (These two saved me). Try to
score as high as you can as question is really easy and sectional cut off matters.
Just go with the basic study material of any MBA preparation coaching. (I opted for
Time's) Thats more than enough or either go with R.S. Aggarwal (Verbal and non-
Verbal reasoning) pay more stress on verbal reasoning and for the. I just have a
look at R.S. Aggarwal Quantitative book. Thats it.

ii) English section: 40 questions in 35 mins and you might feel time is less but
believe me its not. It consisted of 2 big RC's (Attempt dem at last as its time
taking) with 5 questions each, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, questions on
replacing the phrases with suitable meaning and theme detection small questions
read dem once and you will find the answer. For RC's better read the questions first
and then start reading the passage. Once you come across ne of the answer mark it
in your answer sheet sometimes you don't have to read the whole passage and it
saves time. For grammar go for basic grammar book (have a look at Tenses,
Prepositions, Articles etc.) or again go for basic Time's study material.

3) Interview: HRs in infosys are really cool and they make you relax once you
enter the interview room. No puzzle was asked to me in my interview. Mine was a
ladies HR and she was really a very cool lady. Just a few Questions based on my
resume but nothing technical(no need 2 worry). Until you mention project you just
need to backup your strengths written in your resume with examples don't lie or try
to dominate them they are smart enough just be cool and be confident and
maintain your smile basically they will check your communication skills and your
confidence. My interview lasted for almost 20 mins. And Finally results were
announced at 1 a.m in the morning 3 hours after the interview and BINGO. I was
one among the 22 lucky students selected from our college. Best of luck guys and I
hope you find my experience helpful. Don't forget to take help from your seniors it
really helps you a lot in preparation.

Thanks for reading.

Test Paper :19

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 7  January  2010
Test Location  : Institute of Engineering & Management
 Posted By        : Arighna Roy

Hi Friends,

I am Arighna Roy from IEM, Kolkata. There was an in campus

selection process of Infosys in our college campus on 7th Jan, 2010.
Around 110 students appeared for this interview from 3 different
streams. 52 students were selected. I was one of those lucky guys.

Statistics:
No. of streams : 3
No. of students: 110
No. of students cleared aptitude test : 58
No. of students selected : 52

Selection Procedure:
Infosys is such a company where there is no restriction for any
stream. That means students from different streams are welcome to
this selection process and they are treated equally. They just check
whether you have adaptability or not.
The whole Selection Process contains two steps
· Aptitude Test
· HR Interview

The Aptitude test is divided into two different sections:
· Analytical & Logical reasoning:(30 questions: 40 minutes)
· English section: (40 questions: 35 minutes)

This section removed about 50% students. So be careful about this
section. They didn’t tell about any sectional cutoff. But i think there
was a sectional cutoff. Few of my friends were deselected in this
round doing very good in a single section. There was no negative
marking. So don’t leave anything unmarked. At last if you are going
for any wild guess then I’will suggest you to go with a single number.
Then at least few of those could be correct.

Study Materials:
· Freshersworld.com shared experiences
· R.S. Aggarwal verbal & non-Verbal
· GRE Barron

Analytical & Logical reasoning:(30 questions : 40 minutes)
Figure series (R.S. Aggarwal)
Four different figures were given with slight changes. You have to get
the pattern of changes and then to guess the 5th figure from 4
options. Don’t try to get the actual figure. Rather  try it from options.

Data Interpretations(GRE Barron)
Two bar charts were given.5 questions were given from these charts.
Those were really easy.
Analytical Ability Questions (GRE Barron)
One paragraph was provided.5 questions were following. First solve
the problem. Then go for the questions. Don’t see the questions first.

English section: (40 questions : 35 minutes)
This section was a bit tough. Practice from GRE Barron. Synonyms
and Antonyms were not needed.
2 reading comprehension were there 5 questions each.
Fill in the blanks
Sentence correction
Questions were not that tough. But the speed does matter. Go for the
reading comprehension at last. Do the others first. Then you can get
confidence.
I think the cutoff was very high. Because the questions were easy. So
never think that what ever you have done is enough. Nothing is
enough.

HR interview:
Now the final round. The only one solution to crack the interview is
keeping yourself cool and confident. Friends believe me the Infosys
HR panel are the coolest person in the whole world(At least for my
panel). And always think that they are taking your Interview to select
you, Not to reject you. Be friendly, polite and honest with them. Don’t
get nervous. If you are getting confused then put your hand on your
heart and say “ aal is well”. kidding.

There was only one round. Few students were asked for the second
round. So don’t think that you are done with the interview. We had to
sit in a room until the whole interview session was over. Always
prepare with a set a photo copies of your mark sheets(from 10th to
your last sem). And carry all your original mark sheets, all the
certificates mentioned in the CV, 4 passport size photo, CV in a
different channel file.
ME: may I come in sir?
HR: Yes come in Arighna right? So Arighna what happened to your HS
marks?(he didn’t give me time to greet him good morning)
ME: Good morning sir.

HR: Yes morning. Plz sit down.
ME: Thank you sir…

HR: Now tell me what happened to to your 12th marks(I had 74% in
12th)
ME: Explained, told that that instead of having poor aggregate I had
good marks in mathematics

HR: Asked the marks in math.
ME: Told 195 out of 200

HR: Well that’s a very good marks. Then you were born to do math.
Why didn’t you go for BSC,MSC then PHD with math. You had better
prospect on that. (Trying to check that whether I am satisfied with
my studies or not)
ME: I stuck on my decision and told that in engineering also we have
math.

HR: Yes but these are application math. But could have gone with
pure math.
ME: Up to 12th we had application math. I was good at that. Then
explained why did I choose engineering study after 12th.(he
impressed)

HR: Ok… tell me what is Boolean algebra
ME: Told

HR: Where is it implemented?
ME: In Computers

HR: Why
ME: Told

HR: Is it a tool or sth else? I don’t know Boolean algebra. I am
learning from you. (it was a trap. don’t try to manage the question
thinking that they don’t know the subject. They can have a PHD on
that subject. Be careful about the fact)
ME: Explained(he impressed)

HR: How do you solve problems?
ME: Explained

HR: If it is a financial problem then?
ME: Told
Do you have creativity?
ME: Yes
Prove it with an example
ME: Told about event management in our college and locality. New
ideas and plans over there.
Ok Arighna nice meeting you. Do prosper in your life with
mathematics. Never leave practicing it. There is no better subject that
math.
ME: Thank you sir. Nice meeting you. (hand shaking)

Result: I was too tensed. The first name that they told was of mine,
thank god, thanks freshersworld, thanks to my supportive family
don’t worry you can also crack it. See you in Mysore, Good bye.

Hello Everyone,

Infosys visited our college on 2nd December 2010. This time once again they had
the same selection procedure, with written exam being the main filter. With just
over 180 candidates appearing for the exam only 20 made through it and then 14
were able to convert it into final selections.

Exam was in two parts:
1. General Aptitude (Reasoning)
2. English

General Aptitude:

1. Figure Analogy(5 bits, very easy)
2. 5 questions on data sufficiency (very easy)
3. 5 on data interpretation (Very Tricky)
4. 2 Group reasoning Problems(Very difficult i didnt able to solve 7 out of 10
questions)
5. 5 Questions on logical linking of two given statements(easy)
6. No question on syllogism!

English:
1. 2 RCs (Easy, but do it at the last)
2. 8 choosing the correct sentence (Difficult)
3. 7 on error correction (easy)
4. 8-10 questions on Sentence completion (Very easy)
5. Theme Detection (Tricky)

All in all, a candidate must have a good command over the language and just going
through the Articles, Prepositions etc. on the last day won’t work.

After written exam, only HR of about 15-20 min on an average were taken which
include very general HR questions, specially related to the CV and the candidate’s
personal life only.

Anyway, 14 were selected in the end and iam happpy for being one of them.

To summarise, Infosys selection needed just good aptitude and better language
command, so make sure that you acquire both well before Infosys. See you at
Infosys, Bye.

Test Paper :21

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 21  September  2010
 Test Location  : UCER, Allahabad
 Posted By        : Saraansh
Hello Guys,

This post is for those who are interested in joining Infosys. As you all know that you
have to go through 2 stages to get recruited in Infosys.

1) Written test (this is the main stage to clear as 80-90% are washed out in this
round only), it consists of 2 section.
a) Reasoning
b) English

2) PI
I don't remember the questions but yes I can help all by suggesting some points to
clear the process.

a) The written test is not so tough as it is told by everyone before giving the test.
Whoever tells you that written is very tough he/she is trying to be over smart as
they either have cleared it or failed to clear.

b) You just have to prepare well logical reasoning, puzzles, completing the series of
pictures, and some basic mathematical operations. This you can do from R.S.
Aggarwal or any of the CAT coaching materials.

c) For the English test prepare correction of sentences, preposition, putting the
right words as fill in the blanks, spotting errors, and RC's. Please attempt the RC's
at the last if you get time and read the questions 1st and then try to find the
answers. Prepare the English from any basic book and those from English medium
don't worry for this section.

d) There is no negative markings so attempt all questions and be quick n confident.

Now if you clear the written test you have to go through the PI section which a HR
takes.
Now for this section.

a) Your CV will be scanned so be ready to answer any questions from any where.

b) They are going to play with you so don't lose your temper and have smile always
be confident in answering.

c) No need to tell them if you have an offer letter from other organizations and if
you want to tell, tell them on your own risk.
d) They even say I'll through you out. Say sorry and answer the questions.
Rest All is well

Best of luck!

Hope to meet you guys in Mysore.

Test Paper :22

Paper Type     : Aptitude - English
 Test Date        : 28  November  2006
Test Location  : Maharaja Surjamal College, New Delhi
 Posted By        : Anshul Goyal
Hi Guys,

I had applied for Infosys on August 10 and got call letter on 18 November 2010. My
test was on 28 November 2010. Selection procedure contains only written and HR.
In written they asked mainly reasoning & English. So prepare well from R.S
Aggarwal verbal and non verbal reasoning. Reasoning questions were like

1. 2 puzzles: Each had 5 question

2. 5 figures

3. 1 table- 5 questions

4. 5 syllogisms

5. 5 data sufficiency

English was quite easy any average person with little practice can do.

English contained:

1. 2 passage: 1 was very easy and other was little bit tougher.
2. Fill the blanks: 5 questions
3. Most suitable conclusion from the above given passage: 5 questions

Result was announced on the same day and for interview they called next day.
Prepare well project details for interview, they ask many times. For me it was full
technical and asked about my projects only.
It depends on your luck that what kind of HR you get. They announced that
interview result will be send to e-mail id after 2-4 weeks. Lets see what happens.

All the best!

Test Paper :23

 Paper Type     : Candidate Experiences
 Test Date        : 22  January  2010
 Test Location  : Svits Indore
 Posted By        : Rohan Kaushik

Hello Friends,

This is Rohan Kaushik From Svits Indore infosys visited our college today i.e 22-01-
2010. Firstly the process started with a presentation about infosys, its values, its
growth and things that make you say "Boss this is the Company I always wanted to
be in"

After the presentation we started with the Written Test.
It as per its regular pattern had 2 sections
1) Logical 30 questions, 40 min
2) Verbal 40 questions, 35 min

Logical was very easy and one could finish it before time.
Verbal was a bit on a tougher side as the passages were lengthy.

Time management here plays an important part. The infosys people came out with
the short list in 2 hours.
162 appeared in the written examination out of which 71 got through the initial
phase. Then after the short list. They immediately started with HR interview. I was
called.

Interivewer: So Rohan have your seat.
ME: Thank you sir. Good afternoon
Interivewer: What is your Father occupation?

ME: Told(try to be specific)
Interviewer: What is your mother occupation?
ME: Told
Interviewer: Since they both are from chemistry i will ask a question on that.

ME: Sir, I'm not that good in that. But still i will give it a try.
Interviewer: Ok there is a drop of water on the table. How will you test that the
drop is water only.

ME: Told but the answer was not satisfactory. He asked me to ask the answer from
my parents.
Interviewer: Then he gave me 2 puzzles and both were from previous interview
given in this site

ME: Answered both.
Then he asked me about major and minor project undertaken.
I answered them confidently. Last he asked about my brother and told
"That will do Rohan Kaushik".
I said thanks and left the room.
I am satisfied by the performance i gave. Let's see what happens final results would
come on 31st of this month.

Give your best shot and do pray for me that i make it in Infosys.

INFOSYS PAPER ON 14th OCTOBER AT COIMBATORE

Hello everybody, I have been selected in INFOSYS and i m glad to share my experience
with you all. I really thank fresher's world as it helped me a lot in my goal of getting
into infy.

Anna University Chennai conducted a centralized placement at SREC Coimbatore and

nearly 48 colleges participated. Anna university set the elligibility criteria to be above
77% till sixth sem. nearly 1000 students attended and 63 were shortlisted in first round
and finally 21 got selected. By God's grace I m one among them.

There were 30 questions n reasoning and 40 questions on verbal. everybody can do

these questions but the thing is u need to keep an eye on ur time. Time management is
the key to get into infy. If u dunno any question just skip it and work the remaining. Don
watste ur time on a single question. For reasoning R.S.Aggarwal verbal and non verbal
is more than enough. Practice each and every question in that book especially under the
heading PUZZLE TEST, DATA SUFICIENCY and SYLLOGISM. verbal part u can
easily manage if u have a basic knowledge in english. I don think it will be tough for u
guys.

Around 4pm they announced the results and 63 got chortlisted. We had the HR round
the next day. At morning 9 the interview process started and around 11.30 they called
my name. i was so tensed as it was my first interview. My HR is a very cool person. My
interview went for just 20 mins. It goes like this.

Me: May i come in Sir? Good Morning Sir.

HR: Good mrng. Take ur seat.
Me: Thank u sir
Hr: gimme ur biodata
i gave mine
Hr: tell me abt ur family members
me: I m so and so....
Hr: u have a long name. Wats the meaning of ur name?
Me: explained
Hr: u r a hostelate or days scholar?
Me; days scholar
Hr: wat will u do at home after going frm college?
Me: xplained
Hr: wat kind of channels u will watch at tv?
Me: told
Hr: Apart frm paper presentation have u indulged in any other activities?
Me: told
Hr: Do u think ur college life helped u improve urself?
Me; i said yes
Hr: how?
Me: xplained
Hr: apart frm studies have u participated in anything during ur school days?
Me: told abt my sports activities
Hr: how many boys and gals r there in ur class?
Me: told
Hr: have u attended any other interview before?
Me: said
Hr: do u have any questions?
Me: Should i do any courses before joining the training?
Hr: not necessary. if u r interested in any field then develope knowledge in that field. U
don have to do any seperate course before joining infosys. Concentrate on ur academics.
He wished my All the best and gave me a firm hand shake.

Around 2 o clock noon the results were announced. 21 students got selected and i m one
among them. Totally 5 students frm my college got thru. they announced the package as
3.25akh per annum.PRAYERS helps u a lot. Do pray to God to help u and work hard.

ALL THE BEST GUYS. Meet u at infosys.

wud like to thank freshers world that has helped me a lot to go through the
pattern.......there were around 800 students appeared for written and around 120 selected
out of which 90 made it for HR…(12 cleared written n 8 got through HR from BMAS Engg.
College, Agra) and by gods grace i was one among them...The very important thing to crack
any campus is just b honest to ur self ...b confident never b over confident. it takes u
away...and most imp.....just believe in ur self...u r the one who can do the best…

I M REALLY THANKFUL TO MY PARENTS...FRIENDS WHO HAV BELIEF ON ME...

Here is the pattern dear friends :::

1.Logical reasoning(30 question) 40 MIN.
2.English section(40 question) 30 MIN.

The logical section consisted of the following question....

1.2 puzzle tests of 10 marks… (Just go through QUESTION its more than enough.....)
2.5 series figure question of 5 marks (go through QUESTION...NON VERBAL SECTION more
than enough
3.5 questions on data sufficiency (again prefer question)
4.5 question on logical reasoning or syllogism... (Go through question also go through the
the cat material).
5. Data interpretation of 5 question (Just go through the question aptitude book......it is best
as I preferred the same)

English section....... it is as follows

1. 2 paragraphs based questions very easy ( try to do it in last minutes as it is very easy u
have to just go through it once it is of total 10 marks )
2. Correction of underlined sentence very minor difference…5 question
3. Theme detection 5 question
4. Choose the correct sentence of 5 marks, and
5. Fill in the blanks (using correct sentence…from options given…). for verbal section I must
say that prepare the basic things like tense, preposition , speeches voices etc...............u can
also go for the cat study material.....or prefer wren n martin.........

Written test was ok and the results were around 5 pm and I went through... After that HR
interviews started n results were also declared college wise…

HR INTERVIEW

FOR HR I WUD SAY THAT DNT PREPARE FOR ANYTHING ELSE BUT PREPARE FOR URSELF I
MEAN KNOW UR SELF.......so that u can reply every thing confidently...one more thing that u
should go for puzzles that they may ask in HR... One more thing that u must have all details
n explanations bout ur resume…so also prepare for this part…

INFOSYS PAPER ON 9th APRIL AT BANGALORE

Infosys is one of the coolest companies which come to ur college....... The question
paper for apti is very easy and u have only one more HR round after u ve cleared in
aptitude round. So if u ve cleared apti u are 90% placed.. Out of some 200 who wrote
apti 122 got selected and after HR 107 were selected from our college.

The apti consists of 2 parts:

1: Logical reasoning.. It was very simple. There wer 30 qns and 40 min.
I. I have a 9 digit ATM number which consists of the numbers 1-9 not particulary in that
order say PQRSTUVWX. The num is divisble by 9. If u delete de 9th digit de 8-digit
num s divisible by 8. if u delete 8th num, the remaining num is divisble by 7 and so on..

1.What is de sum of the digits in de original number?

2.What is the digit sum in de original number?
3.Which number should come in de place of R?
4.What are de 1st 5 digits of the number?
5.What are de last 5 digits of the number?

It seems 2 be difficult but its easy. Jus check de 4th qn.. In de options if de last number
of de option is 5 dat is de answer.. nd in the 5th qn de 1st number should be 5.. There is
only one option with that number.. The 1st and 2nd sub questions are general in this
question..

II.6-10
It was pictures  sequences.. A bit confusing.. Be careful with the answers...

III. 11-15
It was data interpretation general topics basically from R.S. Agarwal

IV. 16-20
One main question wih blanks. It was very simple. U jus had to add diff numbers to fill
in the balnks.. basic addition..

V. 21-25
Puzzle type qn. A speaks Urdu and Marathi. B speaks Marathi and Bengali.. and many
more ppl.. 5 questions followed it which were damn easy..
VI. 26-30
In each question 6 sentences were given. We have 2 find out which sentences have a
relation BCF DEF like dat.. Its easy if u see de options and do it...

2. Verbal..
This was also easy but time consuming.. U have 2 be real fast in reading passages..
better do passages in de last.. 40 questions 35 min They ll give 2 passages.. Big ones
and 5 questions following dat..

Der are fill in the blanks and correction of false statements and many more.. Verbal will
be very easy if u r fluent in english but be very fats in reading..

No need to worry bout HR round.. They r very cool and jovial...... My experience was
really good and I was selected

Verbal ability test (VAT). RAT was of 40 minutes for 30 questions and VAT was of 35
minutes for 40 questions.

RAT:
It consist a north-south-east-west distance problem. 5 questions were asked based on
this problem (very easy).5 Nonverbal reasoning questions i.e. finding out odd one out
from 5 simple figures.

A simple puzzle:
One thief thefts a keyboard, a monitor and a printer from three separate stores on 3
different months January, February and march to make his own computer. He uses 3
different devices each once at a time. The devices were screwdriver, wire cutter and
appliers. Wire cutter was sensitive to monitor. And some simple hints were given and
you can find it out easily using a table.
5 questions were asked based on this puzzle.

Other questions were from time and distance, probability, ratio and proportion, 3 to 4
other questions I’ve not there and I simply bluffed as there were no negative markings.

VAT:
Two simple paragraphs were there. You need not have to read the paragraph thoroughly
because you can get the answer of the question directly. Each paragraph had five
questions each.

Other questions are:
1) Fill in the blanks type
2) Correct the sentences type
3) Two statements would be given, you have to decide whether the third statement
follows or not from the two given statements.

More than 400 had appeared, out of them 131 were selected in the written. Out of them
122 were finally selected.

The H.R interview of mine is as follow:
Me: good afternoon sir
He: very good afternoon (he forwarded his hand to shake hand with me). He asked me
to have my seat
Me: thank you sir.
He: keep your file there and sign it here for your authentication (I signed in the
application form given to us previously).
He: other than academics what else you do?
Me: sir I love to solve sudokus and riding cycle.
He: what else?
Me: I listen music and create a humorous environment.
He: what else?
Me: I some times help my younger brother in studies.
He: what is he doing now?
Me: he is continuing his BCA at NICE bbsr.
He: who is your ideal person?
Me: my brother.
He: why
Me: explained and he got impressed.
He: have you shown any leadership quality
Me: yes sir, I was elected as leader for two consecutive years in my school.
He: Asked me to explain how you had shown your leadership
Me: done.
He: tell me some good achievements of your life
Me: done
He: tell me your weakness and some failures in life.
Me: said
He: how you are going to overcome these.
Me: (These sorts of questions I had already prepared; so done)
He: ok (he laughed) and wished me all the best. And asked me to leave the place.
Me: thank you sir. (And left).

I was a bit nervous during the interview and my lips were getting dried as I was
interviewed in the same way by WIPRO but God knows why I was not selected.

Always try to say the truth the INFY people bring H.R professional from the meta-i
group. They all are above age 40. They are quite experienced professionals. so don’t
bluff; some of my friends have been caught bluffing .

Fresher world. Com is really helpful for me as it gives most recent campus experiences..

INFOSYS PAPER ON 12th  MARCH 2008

Hi friends, I am Piyush Gaur from JIIT Noida. INFOSYS came to our campus on 12th
and 13th of March. Three colleges participated namely JIIT Noida, JUIT
Waknaghat(Solan) and JIET Guna.

No. of students appeared:

JIIT - 470
JUIT - 280
JIET - 183

No. of students selected after written test:

JIIT - 320
JUIT - 160
JIET - 70

No. of students finally selected:

JIIT - 293 (I was luckily among them :-))
JUIT - 140
JIET - 41

Guys I think most of you must be knowing what Infosys and who all eligible (infact
everybranch is eligible, one just have to clear that % criteria).
Eligibility Criteria -  60% X 60% XII and 60% in all previous semesters. (For B.Tech
only,MCA and M.Tech students do consult your TPO)

Now before the written test there was a presentation in that we were told that try getting
atleast 20 correct in both Analytical & Logical Reasoning section as well as Verbal
section. There is no funda like upper cut off and no negative marking so attempt all the
questions.

At that time only the person told us that they are expecting around 500 selections so that
was something which really gave us confidence.

LOGICAL REASONING PART Questions: 30      Time: 40 mins

Ques 1-5. It was a puzzle test on 7 people (A,B,C,D....G) playing cards. 100 cards were
there distributed equally among them then there were some transactions like A got 5
cards from E etc etc.... something like this. Ques 6-10. All question were based on
finding odd one out from the given figures. All were easy.
Ques 11-15: Then came the Syllogisms 6 statements were given namely A,B,C,D,E &
F. Then from the options we were to find which of them follow. Eg. options are 1. ABD
2. BEF 3. BDE 4.
ACF 5. None of these. So work in a reverse manner i.e from Answer to question.
Ques 16-20: A Data Interpretation question usually while solving the RS Agarwal you
wont find them difficult but this one was not that easy. 2 graphs were given (both of
them were line graphs) one was Liabilities as expenditure on safety mining. Another
was percentage increase in liabilities per year. Language of the question was not that
easy it demanded 2-3 readings. One ques I found to be bouncer type.
Ques 21-25: Another puzzle was there this one was pretty simple than the previous one.
Can be found in RS Agarwal Verbal and Non-Verbal. 6 aspirants were there preparing
for bank examination RBI, ICSB and Andhra Bank. 3 males and 3 females with the
given information make a table then apply logic to complete it.
Ques 26-30: Then came the Data Sufficienct part again it was easy I think only one of
them was bouncer type rest all were fine and easy.

AFTER A BREAK OF 5 MINUTES next paper is distributed of:

VERBAL PART       Questions: 40          Time: 30 mins
There were 2 passages for reading comprehension both were easy. There there were
sentence correction type questions those were also fine. Then came the fill in the blanks.
Then there were questions in which we were asked to find grammatical mistakes that
was also quite easy.
Overall verbal section was easy than the logical aptitude section. This is what I felt and
my other friends. Results were declared after 3 hours. Then Interviews started since due
to large no. of selections most of the interviews were taken on the following day i.e.
13th or march.

This one was mine Interview:

Piyush: Good Afternoon sir
Interviewer: Good afternoon, have a seat.
P: Thank you sir
I: So u r from biotech, y did u opted for it most of the girls opt for this field:
P: No sir its not like that its just the matter of interest and I found biotech a diff. and
upcoming field.
I: What type of career u r expecting from biotech.
P: Sir if I had to pursue my career in biotech only then i'll opt for Bioinformatics.
(Then he had a breif look at my resume)
I: Ok tell me what all you learned from ur last project?
P: Blah Blah Blah Blah...
I: Have u done any group project?
P: Yes Sir
I: What difficulties u faced in that?
P: Blah Blah Blah Blah...
I: What is the source of your information for latest technology?
P: Newspapers, Magzines, Internet etc..
I: Which newspaper do u read?
P: The Times of India
I: On which page do u find the news regarding latest technology?
P: Sir on Times Trends
I: Which is the last news u read related to upcoming technology?
P: News I read just 2-3 days ago.
I: Ok fine Piyush. Do u want to ask any questions?

Now this is the conclusion part it is very important always ask aleast a question. I asked
two and he became very frank while answering them. Guys this the complete story of
Infosys from my side. After clearing the written one thing is sure that u r 90% selected
10% depends on interview just dont spoil it. Answer questions nicely and avoid
answering in only Yes or NO.

All the best!!

Piyush Gaur

INFOSYS PAPER ON 20th MARCH 2008

Hi, friends this is HARSHAL CHAUDHARY a student of Walchand College of Engg

and now also an Infosyian. I got selected for Infosys through the placement done by it,
at Walchand. Here I am mentioning about my experience during the whole placement
process.

1. Logical and critical reasoning test 30 questions 40 min

2. Verbal reasoning and English test 40 questions 35 min
Logical and critical reasoning test
1-5Q ------- The question was based on three ladies having some money and a game
played (These r the puzzle test ques of R.S aggrawal v &non-V Type 5).
2-10Q ----- The questions were figure related in which we had to find the correct figure
in sequence.
11-15Q ---
16-20Q --- The question was related to DI in which a table showing number of students
in different branches during 6 years were given and we had to answer questions having
lot of caculations. So I suggest you to do it at last.
21-25Q --- The question was  again puzzle type in which 5 peoples A,B,C,D,E ,F,Gand
H r sitting aROUND A TABLE.
26-30Q --- The question was syllogism type. In this 6 statements were given with four
combination choices like AFC, ACF etc and we had to find the correct logically related
combination.

(I recommend you to just go through R.S. Aggarwal Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning.
But prepare well for it. As its one of the deciding factors in clearing Aptitude test.)

Verbal reasoning and English test

1 ---- There were two paragraphs. It will take time so attempt them at last.
2 ---- There were questions on sentence correction in which we had to find correct
replacement for underlined part in passage.
3 ---- There were questions on finding the correct sentence among 4 given sentences.
4 ---- There were questions on filling up the blanks with suitable grammatical words.
5 ---- There were questions related to theme dectecion from a small passage.

The main part or the eliminatoin part of INFOSYS is the Apttitude test &&&&& the
rest is just a WALK ON CAKE.

For our HR INTERVIEWS  their were 5 panels and most them were too much
experienced (age more than 45)

INFOSYS PAPER ON 18th MARCH AT BHUBANESWAR

Hello friends, This is Himansu here, from Orissa Engineering College, Bhubaneswar.
Infy  visited our college campus on 18th march, for recruitment. The schedule was cut-
out and pretty much timebound.

The basic process remain the very same, i.e.,

1. Pre placement Talk
2. Written Round
3. Interview

The PPT started right at 9.30am, when 2 delegates came n started off with their
presentations and provided information and life, work and processes at Infosys and its
requirements. Jot the points down, if you feel it necessary.

Right after that, the students proceeded to  assigned rooms for written round. Initially,
they give a form - which you need to supervise carefully and fill in the details without
much manipulation. But dont worry, they will guide you about that in the PPT itself.

Right after that, written round started. It was the very same pattern , timing and kind of
questions - which by now, you are expected to know. After the written part was over,
the results were declared after 1.5 hr. Out of the 270 odd appeared, 43 cleared the
written part.

After few minutes, the 43 guyz were to proceed to interview arena. And there were 6
panels, all set for interviewing the candidates.

The HR people of Infy are normally highly experienced and seasoned. So kindly don't
exaggerate your resume, information or over-burden your folder with unnecessary
certificates (for example, 2nd prize in debate, 1st prize in painting) - is what I feel.
Because normally they don't go beyond your resume and scoresheet.

However, the most important aspect is how and what you write in your resume. Be very
clear and know your CV. They can trap you wonderfully , if you are not well read on
that aspect.

I'll tell you briefly about my interview process.

I was asked  about my academic gap, hobbies ( asked hell a lot out of it ), long term
goals,  how to organize a competition, a small puzzle  and many other questions. They
may also ask technical questions (yes, be prepared anyway).

Little bit of nervousness is absolutely normal. Just keep yourself collected, b clear n
proper in diction, b cheerful and hope for the best.

Some say, believing in God and all is very important. That is very true. But prior to
everything, You got to believe Yourself completely.

Do your best, n hope sab thik ho.  From our interview process, 38 out of 42 were
selected. I have seen very great contenders and my best friend being left out, out of
sheer bad luck in their part.

Alrite.. Wrote enough to provide adequate info...

Pray your fellow God, seek some luck and just do well.

All the best, all of you aspirants.

Hi pals n gals...
This is Ankit Gupta from JIITU,Noida...
Had infosys in our campus on 12-13th march for recruitments. The whole procedure was
divided into the following heads:

1) PPT
2) written paper
3)innerviews

The ppt is basically an intoduction bout infy ,its facilities and package n stuff..But u gt to
listen to it carefully k.. friends   coz u mite need smthing frm it in ur innerviews..
Then the major part -the written test
Its a cat like   test...2 papers 1) reasoning 2) verbal

In reasoning test there were 30 quest in 40 min ..basically all those critical reasoning type 2
questions were like that
3 quuestions on data sufficiency a different one i remember

Q: what is the two digit no?

a) the difference between the digits is 9
b) the sum of the digits is 9

series of figures type questions wich were actually tough and data intrepretation questions
Syllogisms r infy`s guranteed questions  n one must prepare them well..al the rules of
syllogisms they make ur work simpler

In verbal thr were 3 reading comprehensions..1 on architecture..n eupoean renaissance and

othr on works of great scientists ..
sentence correction - this my friends is the scoring part basically
phrase formation ( alternate grammaticaly correct form) of sentences n its parts...
Always attempt all these questions first b4 goin for RC..
few synonyms r also asked indirectly so vocab do helps..

data sufficiency ws also thr based on a passage

After a few hours in evening the results were declared and thr were as usual 3 ankit guptas
in the list..so i had to further enquire bout my name..evry body ws enjoyin the result but i ws
busy lookin 4 my name . 1copy of the sheets ws put up 4 bout 500 people :)

INFOSYS PAPER ON 22nd FEBRUARY AT KOLKATA

Hi,friends this is rajdeep banerjee from netaji subhash engineering college, kolkata. here
am going to describe my experience in INFOSYS CAMPUS RECRUITMENT DRIVE
that was held on 22nd of feb 2008...n i was one of the lucky ones to get selected...

any way first of all friends i wud like to say that don't be tensed about infosys ..bcoz i
personaly think that there on-campus recruitment procedure is easier than that of other
companies...

Our aptitude test was held in Rajarhat technoindia college...we arrived there at 8 a.m
from 9-15 the p.p.t(pre-placement talk)started..the person from infosys conducting the
ppt was very jolly n smart ..he told us abt infy..its projects n all ...he also asked everyone
to say the logo color of infy ..n told us that wh'wud give the right answer wud definitely
get worth Rs.500...

anyway none of us answered correctly...friends the color is "PANTON 285C"..then we

were asked to go to respective rooms to sit for aptitude test...friends its consists of two
parts one is verbal reasoning n logical ,the other is english..anyway friends be prepared
4 the apti..u can follow verbal n non-verbal reasoning by r.s.agarwal..n u can follow the
recent mba entrance papers too...it was easy..the puzzles n quantative reasoning given
was not at all difficult..if u ave the ability to solve the puzzles ,,then u can do the
trick...now in english  my advice is to solve cat papers  or other mba papers..there were
two passages n u have to answer from those..also others were correcting sentence
structure..etc..but no synonym or antonym was given  i think it's not required 4 infy to
practise those stuffs..if u r good in english ..then the the paper was dump easy 4 u..as far
as i can remember i correctly answer each one..totally 70 marks apti it was..n 40 marks
was 4 english...so practise it ...anyway time might be the factor of someone..there was
no negaive markng...then the result was declared n i was there...we all then went to
Techno India ,Saltlake...honestly speaking i was a bit nervous at that time..though i
desparately wanted Infy..4 some reason ....

note that in Infy there's no technical interview...only H.R. interview is there....

when my turn came..i was absolutely tensed.. really my palms were sweating n my heart
beat was growing fast...then i entered. .n here is the conversation....

Me: Good Evening mam,

Madam :thank u rajdeep ..pls be seated..
Me: thank u..(n sat with a smile on my lips..)
Madam: here i see u have passed from mahesh sri ramakrishna ashram..is it a branch of
belur math..?
Me: actually it's not directly connected to it..bt it's connected to other missions..n
exlained plainly..
Madam: tell me abt yourself.... my god that was my question i was very much
prepared..told about my qualities..,my participation in cultural progarmmes..how i
worked as a team..n how i inspired others..my hobbies at last...frnd don't say ur c.v ..say
abt urself ...think about urself ..ur achievements...n say everything good abt urself...
Madam: do u like to work as a team member or a team leader..??
me:  it's always been a pleasure to be a part of the team...n if i can be leader then it'll be
cherry over cake...n explained how i worked in local book fair...etc...friends just try to
convince them that u r in a position to be a part of the company..u have the dedicated
soul ...etc ...
Madam: have u ever got angry...
Me: don't try to fool, them n be honest..also give an example how u ot angry at a
particular situation n for that reason u did a better job..so that negativity of u 'll reflet ur
positive personality..that's the trick...
Madam: do u read story books..ur fav author...
Me: rabindranath tagore...

that was all at last she sighned me a paper n thanked me..i replied my thanks...don't
shake ur hand..unless the interviewer shakes..anyway fortunately i was not asked
puzzles...bt friends my advice is to get ready 4 the puzzles..those cud be asked any
time...

then after 2 hrs of waiting our name was declared..n i was one of the lucky ones ...frm
our stream(cse)10 were selected... that's all over..absolutely i was very happy....
that's it..my friends getting infy is not the toughest job...u have to believe urself...try to
focus on what u r saying..n be positive ..don't show over-smartness ....best of luck to all
of the future INFOSCIONS.....

HOPE THIS WILL HELP U TO REACH UR GOAL...TAHNK

U.....

INFOSYS PAPER ON 12th MARCH 2008

Hello People!! first of all ....all the  very best for ur Infy Exam.... Infy is my dream
company ...n its the fourth company i have cracked after Satyam, TCS, and
Accenture...feels like heaven!!!!!!!! anyways people who still dnt have a job...don't
worry infy won't leave u disappointed..'coz it took a lot of people from my college
about 200 people appeared for the test
about 132 got shortlisted for the interview...
and 115 got selected.....
huge number isn't it????

Written Exam
Carry ur marksheets they need ur xact marks of coll, X n XII n they verify those so be
careful ur CV also has the consistent data

Analytical Section
30 ques 40 min

Here u got to be 100% involved in the paper...don't assume the analytical part to be too
simple 'cz so many ppl qualified...max. of my freinds were preparin for MBA n that's
the reason of so many selections......

so regarding analytical

1.10 questions puzzle type- prepare analytical problem from Puzzle test R.S
Aggarwal....but they are actually too simple n infy asks a bit higher than those...similar
to those of Barrons 12th edition
2. 5 ques- syllogism...remember all rules from again R.S Aggarwal Verbal Non-Verbal
3. 5 ques-Conclusion,   In Conclusion Questions dnt assume anything on ur own...just
imagine u know nothing about the topic and  all u know is what is written in the
question and then read the options
4. 5 ques figure -odd one out -Well, I attepted figure questions the firt 'coz they were too
easy n no need practising the 500 questions in RS.
5. 5 ques DI- pie chart type...practice 4m RS Quanti

so that was analytical....u may go without ne preps also but with a fresh mind and then
solve questions with all ur effort...but manage time well

Verbal Section
40 ques 35 min

Now this depends 4m person 2 person...since i always loved English...this was very easy
4 me...

Now certain tips here

1. While chosing sentence correction questions read all the options simultaneously.. i
mean read first 4 words of all options n then proceed with the options u feel may be
right....prepositions, tenses is a must practice for ppl who confuse in these. There were 8
ques
2. Reading comprehensions do at last n read the questions first n u wud b able to directly
pick answers 4m passage
3. Fill in the balnks....answer elimination process wrks best

i don't remember more...but eliminating wrong answers and then guessin between the
probable correct answers helps!!!

one thing remember more...

with plural sub. verb will not end with s
as- The girls dance
not The girls dances... and with sin. sub a pl verb will come
as- The girl dances n max of ques contains such errors... others are of prepostions like
to,at etc.

Interview Experience
No technical
key factors they see
1. Values inculcated in u.. so be well dressed and disciplined
2. Learnability
3. Flexibility
4. Confidence
5. Communication Skills

My Interview was taken by a Sikh person whi was quite aged n was damn Strict Well
not boring u wid the entire conversation wot he asked me was
1. Countries and currencies(The imp ones)
2. Sates of India n Capitals..esp new ones
3. Pesident of India nad presidential candidates of USA

where i was trapped was wen i answered the president of India as -Pratibha Patil n yes u
thought its absolutely correct no guys its a wrong statement I shud hav answered
Mrs./Shrimati Pratibha Patil

so he replied "She is at the highest post of the country...shudn't u giv sum respect 2
her"n i thought i am blown...infy is known 4 values n i thought i am busted so i
aplogised but he asked me 2 leave

N the entire time till results i was damn tensed.....it was my dream company but finally i
was selected...... n one more thing Infy will give a second chance 2 those about whom
they are doubtful....

so all the best hope u dnt need that second chance  prepare well n come join infy soon
n say- i am proud to be an INFOSCION...

any queries ...well wnt giv u  my mail id...

but contact ur seniors

ALL THE BEST!!!!!
