~ ACTIVITY - SUBSTITUTING PARTS OF ALGORITHMS

Open the patch 01 _ 17_pan.maxp at (seen in figure 1.68), and delete the
rect- object. In its place, insert a sampled soun d using sfp l ay- (with-
out an argument, in a manner that uses only the left channel), with control
over loop ing, th ree differe nt playback speeds (0.125 , 1, and 50), an "ope n"
command for openi ng the f ile " vs_piano_tango. wav " (that you will fin d in the
"virtualsound macros/soundfiles" fo lder), a toggle to activat e and deactivate
the reading of t he aud io fi le, and a button th at wi ll signal reading the end of
the f ile. Once you have completed th is substitu tion, it shou ld be possible to con-
tro l t he stereo posit ion of the "vs_piano_tango . wav " playback (or of w hatever
audio f ile has been loaded) using t he slider .
