The following steps will need to be performed after you have created points in your drawing. For instructions on creating
survey points in Civil 3D, refer to Wisconsin Help Sheet “Creating Points”

The 3D polyline is now an alignment with station marks. You can now create a surface profile from the
alignment.
Step 3: Create a surface profile from the alignment. To do this:
• From the Home Tab The Create Design Panel Click Profile
The profile and alignment will not have the “dynamic” feature they do when we create a profile from an actual
surface. Meaning, if you change the alignment, the profile will not automatically update. The relationship
between the alignment and the profile is lost in the exporting and importing process.
*Note: The NRCS custom User Interface (CUI) must be installed and loaded on the user’s computer prior to
attempting the following steps. The NRCS CUI file is included with NRCS installations on NRCS computers.
Non-NRCS users should utilize Option 1 for creating a profile without a surface.
To Create the Profile Using NRCS Tools:
• From the NRCS Tab NRCS C3D panel Click Points to Profile
• The NRCS Civil 3D Add In box pops up saying an alignment has been created Click OK
*Note: The profile you've created is NOT dynamically updated. If you make changes to the alignment or to the
survey points you will need to use the Points to Profile tool again to create the new profile.
• At this point you can save your drawing and continue with your project.
