To do the Table of Contents, follow these steps (or go watch a tutorial on YouTube ;))
1. Highlight the headings of each section, one at a time, e.g. INTRODUCTION
2. Go to the HOME tab.
3. On the right side of the tab you will see a box named “Styles”.
4. You will notice: Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3 etc.
5. Now, click on the heading type you want, e.g. INTRODUCTION will be Heading 1, any
other major headings will be Heading 1, the subheadings will be Heading 2 and/or
Heading 3.
6. When you are done, go to the Table of Contents page of your report.
7. Go to the REFERENCES tab.
8. On the left there is Table of Contents. Click on it.
9. Choose the second option: Automatic Table 2
10. Now watch the magic happen.

Follow these steps or watch a tutorial on YouTube ;)

1. Move cursor to the figure/table.
2. Click on REFERENCES.
3. In the center of the references tab there is a box called caption.
4. Click on Insert Caption.
5. A box will appear on your screen and you put in the title.
6. Remember: Table TOP, Figure BOTTOM.
7. Do this for all your figures and tables.
8. When you’re done, come to the List of Figures and Tables page.
9. First, do the list of figures.
10. Click on REFERENCES  Insert Table of Figures.
11. A box will appear, make sure the Caption Label is “Figure”, and then click OK.
12. Repeat steps 10 and 11, but make sure the Caption Label is “Table”.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Introductions indicate or discuss the following, but not necessarily in this order:
1.1 Purpose of the Report

Write the specific purpose and topic of the report. You may include the intended audience of the
report if necessary – this would include the knowledge or experience that readers need in order to
understand the report.
1.2 Background of the Report

This section includes the following:
Concepts, definitions, history, statistics

• Enough information to get the reader interested
• Enough information to enable the reader to understand the
context
1.3 Scope of the Report

In this section you can include your justification for your choice of
topic – situation that brought about the need for the report.
You should also include the scope of the report, or more commonly Figure 1. Einstein

Certain features of the introduction may overlap:
– Background information may be considered as justification
It is not necessary to include all features.
Pay attention to the HEADING LEVELS! Go back to the slides or click on the headings to
find the font and size required.
Here you will put the body of your report and include the headings that are suitable for your
report.
You could include headings like this (this is just an example! Use headings that are appropriate
for your topic!):

 REMEMBER: use headings and subheadings that are suitable for your report.

5.0 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Conclude:
 Logical conclusions from the discussion in the report.
 Make inferences on the data that has been presented.
Summarize:
 Review the key point/facts in the report.
 Summaries present nothing new:
o They leave readers with a perspective on what has been discussed
o The perspective the writer wants the reader to have
Generalize:
 Move away from the specific topic of the report to a general discussion
 Use only general terms
REMEMBER: the conclusion is a page by itself!!!
