Refining a system
That will evolve from a paper description, to a simple prototype, and finally to a functional system.
The project theme is "enhancing us as humans"; more specifically, we want you to look for
ways in which human-computer interaction can help overcome human limitations, whether for a
certain subset of users, or for pretty much everybody.
Before you get started on the first project deliverable, you must first "pitch" your idea by
writing up a brief description of the problem. The pitch must also include a description of your
intended user population and an explanation of why you think that you could develop a prototype
solution with a relatively modest amount of implementation effort.
Your choice!
Note that whatever you choose to develop may already exist in some other form, in which case,
one of your initial tasks in the first project deliverable will be to evaluate the existing system and
identify its limitations that made you modify the system. Alternatively, your project idea may be
inspired by a concept description, but not available in a functional implementation, or it may be
something completely of your own invention.
What we expect!
In any event, what we will be focusing on in our evaluation of your work is not the application
itself, but rather, your ability to design, develop, evaluate, and refine an effective interface that
supports a compelling level of interaction.
Major Tasks
Following is the list of deliverables you have to submit on weekly basis
5- Prototype
Prototype is a working model of software with some limited functionality.
a. You have to design a prototype of your system, for which you have to
design interfaces which should be interconnected.
b. Submit the prototype of your system at the end of this task.
6- Evaluation
a. Beta Testing
i. Conduct formal evaluation with expected users of the system
ii. Use appropriate methods( i.e. use likert chart for this purpose)
iii. Analyze results of evaluation
iv. Characterize what’s working and what’s not
b. Submit the views of the users
7- Project Report
a.You are required to write a report on your project. The contents of which
are mentioned below
Introduction
Scope
Hardware and Software Requirements
Tools and Technologies Used
Advantages of Proposed System
Disadvantages of Proposed System
Functional Requirements of Proposed System
Task Analysis
Wireframes
Evaluation report
Lessons Learnt
Conclusion

8- Project Presentation
The in-class presentations will provide you an opportunity to showcase the results of your
work.
a. The presentation should begin with a brief (maximum five minutes) overview,
explaining the rationale behind the system you chose to implement.
b. Extract the Presentation from Project Report.
c. Maximum number of Slides (15-20).
