For two of my careers I got was Dentist and Plastic Surgeon. I figured I was going to
get Dentist or some kind of doctor because it is stuff that I like. Plastic Surgeon
would seem like a good career since you get to help people and make them look
good. You also get to stay in the hospital and be on call. Dentists would be nice
because it is mainly in there own private practice and you can make up your own
hours.

5. (4pts) Paragraph 4: Conclusion
a. How did this job shadow impact your career goals? Do you want to continue to pursue this
career or do you want to pursue a different career? Why? What are your next steps?

I chose this job shadow because I plan on going into this this job. Or go farther into the field. I
completed a onsite job shadow. This job shadow took place at Henninger dental. With Dr. M.
In my job shadow experience I followed around the doctor. I meet his patients and watched him
perform oral surgery and also performed normal checks.
I learned from the questions I asked him that typical work days can very from day to day. also I
should be taking ap classes, also bio and chemistry classes. To be successful in this field you have to be
hard working. Also that jobs that are similar in this field are general surgeons and also plastic surgeons.
This job made me want to follow my path for a career even more. I still want to pursue this career
even more or even go further into this field. Because I like the surgery aspect of it but I would want to do
more of it. My next steps are to continue with school go on through my senior year taking college courses.

space below.
The first Job I got in the green was a artist. I was ranked high in it for being creative
and having my own design. Also learning new hands on skills. Drawing accurately
was the only thing I did bad on. The second Job was a Potter. I ranked high in
working accurately and paying attention to detail. The only thing that was bad
with this was that I don't like getting my hands and clothing dirty.

Session 4: Self-Marketing Package Requirements
Assignment 5: Cover Letter
Overview: Your cover letter is a potential employer’s first impression of you and can be the most vital part of the
application packet. A well written letter entices the employer to read your resume. The same can be said for a
college or scholarship application that includes an introductory letter. It is important to highlight your skills,
knowledge, and experience. These will indicate what you can contribute to the company or school. Effective cover
letters must convey a sense of purpose and project enthusiasm. A “form” cover letter rarely does this. Researching
the employer, college, or scholarship prior to writing the cover letter will give you the opportunity to effectively
personalize your letter.

Directions: Using the Courier Express, Indeed.com, or another job search resource, find a job that aligns with your
career interests. After selecting a job, create a cover letter using the following format:
● HEADING
○ Your Mailing Address City, State Zip Code Today’s Date
● INSIDE ADDRESS
○ Employer’s Name Job Title Business Name Business Address City, State Zip Code
● SALUTATION
○ Dear (Mr./Mrs./Ms.) (Use the name of the person that will read the letter):
● INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH
○ Tell why you are writing.
● 1ST MAIN PARAGRAPH
○ Describe your qualifications. Sell your skills and knowledge. Tell why you are interested in the company
or college. Point out any related experience you have.
● 2ND MAIN PARAGRAPH
○ Continue to describe qualifications. Highlight relevant training or classes that relate to the job or major
for which you are applying.
● CLOSING PARAGRAPH
○ Close by thanking the reader and requesting an interview.
● COMPLIMENTARY CLOSE
○ Sincerely
● SIGNATURE NAME
● ENCLOSURE
○ This indicates that you have enclosed other items (resume, transcripts, etc.) for the reader to see.

Dear Mr. Mansour,

I am writing to you today about your job opening that was posted online for your business.
I have been in this type of field for quite some time. I grew up learning dental work and also practicing
building implants and bridges. I have a very steady hand and a very artistic view so I can really create and rebuild
parts.
I’ve been studying biology and chemistry and am fresh out of school. So everything I’ve learned is fresh in
my mind. I’ve attended one of the top schools in my state.
Thank you for your time with reading this. Also I would fond if you would give me a interview.

Sincerely,

Lance Henninger

Session 5: Career (Google) Portfolio Development and My Senior Year Plan

Assignment 8: My Senior Year Plan
Directions: Using the feedback from your Career Cruising sessions, your experience participating in a virtual or on-site
Job Shadow, and your scheduling meeting with your school counselor, write a reflection on your plan for your senior
year plan.

My Senior Year Reflection Format (20 points)
1. (5pts) Paragraph 1: Introduction
a. What are your current career interests?
b. Does the feedback from your Career Cruising sessions align with your career interests? Why
or Why not?
c. How did your job shadow impact your career interests?
2. (5 pts) Paragraph 2: Senior Courses
a. What courses best align to your career choices?
b. How will the courses that you selected help to prepare you for your career interests?
3. (5 Pts) Paragraph 3: Conclusion
a. What are some extracurricular activities, community service opportunities, and/or
employment options that you could do to gain experiences or skills for your field/career of
interest? (If you are interested in pursuing a career in teaching you could tutor, be a
volunteer coach, be a volunteer Big Brother/Big Sister, babysit, volunteer at an elementary
school, participate in Read Across America Day, etc)
I am currently looking at becoming a facial Maxillary surgeon. Or possible a
dentist. The feedback on Career Cruising was not realistic with what I’m going to
be. It gave me hobbies not jobs but I did get These jobs lower in the list though.
I think that the best courses to take is a form of science. Like a bio and
chemistry. It will help me understand and get the process with the body. And the
basic principles of this.
Some other things I can do to that I could gain experience in this field is
volunteer my time at my dad’s dental office by making mouth pieces or partial
teeth. But I could also go over to Dr. Rice’s complex and volunteer helping out and
watching there.
