Overview
Fehu is the rune of abundance and fulfilment. It can signify wealth gained, successes
met and rewards delivered. It promises nourishment- from the mundane comforts
of everyday life to the nourishment of the soul.

 
About Fehu (Feoh, Fe, Feh)
Fehu is a fortunate rune, a count-your-blessings-and-do-the-gratitude-dance sorta’
rune… because adopting Fehu’s teachings will allow you to bring flow, luck, joy and
prosperity into your life.  The literal translation is cattle, and of course in traditional
societies it was easy to measure one’s wealth by counting how many cows
one owned. Owning cattle meant (and still means!) beef and milk for sustenance,
leather for clothing and shoes, hides and bones for shelter and tools, and the
animal’s strength to help plough the fields. It also meant having something to trade
or barter with, in order to acquire other things that one desired. It’s certainly not
di icult to imagine how important cattle were to one’s prosperity in old Norse
societies.

Of course the modern interpretation of the wealth rune has shi ed from cattle to
money, which is today’s trading tool for spending and receiving. (Can you imagine
trying to buy something with a cow?)

remind yourself that the “F” of Fehu stands for
Flow. When you are in ow with the receiving
and giving of abundance with the universe, you
are wealthy beyond measure. 
 

The really cool thing about Fehu is that it reminds us that the idea of being
“in flow” with wealth is not a new idea at all. Wealth is not something to hoard, it is
meant to be shared. We need to be open to receive abundance and to give
abundantly in order to become truly wealthy. Today, we talk about the energetics of
money and wealth, and the fact that we need to give freely and gratefully in order to
make the space in our lives for more incoming abundance.

Ancient Anglo-Saxons said it di erently, but this rune poem shows us that the
underlying meaning was the same:

“Wealth is a consolation to all men


Yet much of it must each man give away
If glory he desire to gain before his god.”

Fehu Rune Meaning in Divination

Positive outcomes are likely!
Take a good look at the meaning of wealth in your life when this runes shows up in

Fehu is the first rune, and sometimes can be associated with a new love, the
beginnings of a relationship or a new direction in a relationship, as well as young
love. The rune is associated with the elements of fire and earth, and so there’s an
underlying earthy-passion vibe that this rune just emanates. Fehu is charismatic!

Love abundance means loving yourself as well as loving others. Again, the sacred
flow of Fehu suggests looking at your love bank and taking stock. Be careful not to
be overly reckless in love, to look a er the love that you have in your
life, while allowing yourself to get “in flow” with love circulation.

Working with Fehu Fehu is a rune that goes hand-in-hand with luck and joy.  Think
of a time when you felt like you were on a lucky streak… it was joyful, it was easy,
and you were in flow. That moment of “luck” is actually something that is inherent in
you all of the time. It’s an attitude, and a belief. You have the innate power to
influence your own luck and bring about your own abundance. In many rune
teachings there is an expansion concept that is associated with Fehu. It’s time to
expand your receiving and your giving, since this energetic exchange with the world
around you is what keeps you in flow and allows prosperity and abundance to
circulate in your life.

Throw on your rose-colored abundance-glasses and wealth will start to find it’s
way into your life. The right people and the right opportunities will present
themselves to you, and they will allow you to take action and receive the things you
need. Fehu’s magic tends to be given to those who are willing to be courageous in
their endeavours and those who begin to trust that what they need will come to
them.

Learning to trust Fehu may mean not focusing on money as the only source of
“wealth” – what do you want the money for? And what would you buy with it? Food
and nourishment, shelter and comfortable place to stay, clothing and the ability to
