By Highway Bus

Nishitetsu highway buses operate every 15 minutes

between Fukuoka (Hakata Station, Tenjin Bus Center) and
Nagasaki Station. There are also hourly connections
to/from Fukuoka Airport. The one way journey takes about
2.5 hours and costs 2570 yen.

By JR limited Express Train

One or two limited express trains per hour operate

between Fukuoka's Hakata Station and Nagasaki Station.
The one way trip takes two hours and costs 4,190 yen by
unreserved seat or around 4,500 yen by reserved seat.
Discounted sets of two tickets (Ni-mai-kippu) cost 6,180
yen and sets of four tickets (Yon-mai-kippu) 11,000 yen.
The trip is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass and the
Kyushu Rail Pass.

Nagasaki Chinatown is located a short walk from the
Tsukimachi along tram lines 1 and 5.

Oura Church is a five minute walk from the Ouratenshudo-

shita tram station on tram line number 5. It stands just
next to the entrance of Glover Garden.
Glover Garden is a five minute walk from Ouratenshudo-
shita Station on tram line number 5. The entrance is just
next to the Oura Catholic Church

The Peace Park is located several kilometers north of the

city center in Urakami. It is most easily accessed by tram
line 1 or 3 in ten minutes from JR Nagasaki Station. The
closest tram stop is Matsuyamamachi, a short walk away.

Urakami Cathedral is located a ten minute walk from the

Nagasaki Peace Park and the Matsuyamamachi tram stop
on the lines 1 and 3 (10 minutes, 120 yen one way from
Nagasaki Station).

By ropeway

The ropeway ride takes five minutes and costs 720 yen
(one way) or 1230 yen (round trip). A discount coupon is
available online. Operation hours are from 9:00 to 22:00
(suspended for maintenance in early December). Gondolas
depart every 15-20 minutes. The ropeway's lower station
can be reached in less than ten minutes from Nagasaki
Station by frequently operating Nagasaki Bus, by taxi, or in
a five minute walk from the Takaramachi tram stop.

By car or taxi

Parking is available at the summit of Mount Inasa (100

yen). The car ride from Nagasaki Station takes roughly 15
minutes, while a taxi ride costs around 2000 yen one way.

By bus

Nagasaki Bus runs 1-2 buses per hour between Nagasaki

Station and Inasayama bus stop (15 minutes, 150 yen one
way), but note that it is still a 15 minute climb from the bus
stop to the summit.

The waterfront area can be reached in a 10-20 minute bus
ride from Tenjin Station (230 yen one way), in a 20-30
minute bus ride from Hakata Station (230 yen one way) or
in a 15-20 minute walk from Nishijin or Tojinmachi Subway
Stations.

In addition, Seaside Momochi is a 20 minute, 1030 yen

ferry ride from Uminonakamichi Seaside Park across
Hakata Bay. Ferries depart approximately every two hours
(more frequent during busy seasons).

Option: Marizon (a shopping mall located in the middle of

the park on the ocean) features restaurants and a marine
sports store.

Kushida Shrine is located a five minute walk from Canal

City Hakata or Gion Subway Station, or a 15-20 minute
walk from Hakata Station.

Access: 5 minute walk from Nakasu-Kawabata Station and
Gion Station

Canal City Hakata is a short ride by the 100 yen loop bus
from Hakata Station or Tenjin Station (100 yen, departures
every 5-10 minutes). Alternatively, you can walk there in
about 15 minutes from Hakata Station or in about 20
minutes from Tenjin Station.
Shukkeien is a 15 minute walk from Hiroshima Station.
Alternatively, it is a few steps from "Shukkeien-mae" tram
stop along tram line 9. From Hiroshima Station, take tram
line 1, 2 or 6 to Hacchobori and transfer to tram line 9. The
entire journey takes about 15 minutes and costs 180 yen.

The castle is a ten minute walk from Kamiyacho-nishi or

Kamiyacho-higashi tram stop (12 minutes, 180 yen from
Hiroshima Station by lines 1, 2 or 6). It is also a ten minute
walk from Shukkeien or a 15-minute walk from the Peace
Park.

Hondori is a pedestrian arcade that is closed to traffic and

lined with shops and restaurants. It starts near the Peace
Park and stretches east about half a kilometer. Running
parallel to Hondori is Aioidori (Aioi Street), the main street
used by cars and trams. Along Aioi Street stand a few large
department stores where more shopping can be found.

From Hiroshima Station, take tram line 2 or 6 to Genbaku-

Domu Mae station. The ride takes 15 minutes and costs
180 yen.
Okonomimura is a small area just south of the eastern end
of Hondori. As its name implies, it is devoted to
okonomiyaki. Okonomimura has many different
restaurants to choose from, and is a convenient place in
the downtown area to take a break and grab a bite.

Hiroshima's downtown area is located a five minute tram

ride by tram lines 1, 2 or 6, or a 20 minute walk west of
Hiroshima Station. Okonomimura and the eastern end of
Hondori are best accessed from Hacchobori tram stop.

Itsukushima Shrine is a ten minute walk from the Miyajima

ferry pier.

Omotosando Shopping Street

The ropeway station is a ten minute walk inland from
Itsukushima Shrine or a 20 minute walk from the Miyajima
ferry pier. The ride up the mountain takes about 20
minutes and requires a transfer of ropeways along the
way.

From the ropeway's upper station at Shishi-iwa

Observatory, it is still about a 30 minute walk up to the
summit along a rather steep hiking trail. The Misen Hondo
and Reikado buildings are located along the trail, about
five minutes before the summit.

The Fukuoka Castle Ruins can be reached in a 10-15

minute walk from Ohori Koen Subway Station.

Ohori Park is a few steps from Ohori Koen Subway Station

(10 minutes, 260 yen from Hakata Station).

Chabugama is a quaint little udon restaurant located right

outside the parking lot entrance to Ohori park, near the
Boathouse
Take the JR Kagoshima Line from Hakata Station to Kashii
Station (10 minutes) and transfer to the JR Kashii Line to
Uminonakamichi Station (20 minutes) just outside the
entrance to the park. The entire one way journey takes
about 40 minutes and costs 460 yen.

Alternatively, the park is a 20 minute ferry ride from

Momochi Seaside Park (1030 yen one way). Ferries depart
approximately every two hours (more frequent during
busy seasons).

Yatai are located throughout the city center, and visitors

will likely come across some while walking through busy
tourist areas in the evening.

To reach the row of stalls on Nakasu Island travelers can

take the convenient 100 yen loop bus from Hakata Station
or Tenjin Station (100 yen, departures every 5-10 minutes).
The closest subway stations are Nakasu Kawabata Station
and Minami Tenjin Station, which are both about a 10
minute walk away.
