aspiration in life is to become doctor. I am an eighteen year old who resides in the community of
Tower Hill, Kingston , Jamaica. Growing up has never been easy due to financial difficulties that
plagues my family hence I am utilizing this platform to ask humbly for funding towards my
schooling.
You might ask why us? Well, I know The Petrojam company for its positive contributions for the holistic
development of Jamaica , through social development programs , education, sports ,health and
environment and also known as the " power house " for The county among other unmentioned good
deeds. I know I have the ability to be apart of your company history , since I m very dedicated ,
outstanding and power house just like petrojam
Ever since I was 7 I knew I wanted to become a doctor unfortunately the reality of life hits. I have been
living in the Tower Hill community my entire life. With my mother parents along with my 5 siblings but
are now separated .I believe that I Have the world's greatest and most humblest parents and I'm
thankful for that but growing up has never been or is easy . My father is a very hardworking man that
owns a small car wash , My mother is a vendor that toils relentlessly in the hot ,sunny streets of
downtown Kingston ; walking to and fro selling Bag Juice and snacks just to make ends meet. I believe
Some persons will never truly appreciate what they have in life unless they traverse on a path like mines
. I have been laughed at when I tell persons of what my parents do ; but in my heart I m extremely
blessed with parents like those and each morning they rise to work that encourages me to hold my head
high and to work harder towards my goal of becoming that aspirant doctor.
Growing up with five siblings has never been easy since inadequate money is available to suffice all the
needs of my family. Growing up in an inner city, poverty stricken community is not the greatest
experience, Imagine living in an old , board house that is always affected by the Climate , Rain yearning
through its infrastructure , sun burning s if it wants to make whole day camp fire. I am not ashamed to
say my housing development, my socioeconomic status is not a average as others however I am
blessed , I am humble enough to seek assistance as it is my self less goal to make my family. Especially
my parents proud .
I am writing to this company with tears filled my eyes reflecting on my journey and where I am now
,thus seeking every opportunity in making my dream of becoming a medical Doctor a reality
Despite my heart whelming situation by the grace of God I have achieved many milestones in my life.
Primary school is where it all started , that phase where I knew I wanted to become a doctor since I was
solely in-love with the sciences . Throughout High school this feeling got more intense especially
throughout a period when I was very sick ,I was admitted for days at the Hospital , I had to undergo a
surgical operation followed by frequent visits . At that point I knew that the hospital will be my home
away from home , I knew I wanted to help others just s how the nurses and doctors did .I have
graduated from The Norman Manley High School with 10 CSEC/CXC subjects with a pass in all .I was The
Head Girl for 2017-2018,I was a prefect since the second form, I have graduated receiving over seven
trophies in one day, as the top girl with the highest overall average and also as The Valedictorian
speaker . I started Sixth form at The Queen's School where I did 4 unit 1 CAPE and now I am at my
second unit .I am now a senior prefect and a member of various clubs and society and also a volunteer
at a Children's Home since 2017.
Now it's time to venture into university, into Medical school; The true reality has present itself . My
family is at a stage where my sixth form school fee has not even paid , and sometimes I have to stop
from school due to no money or fall sick at school because I have inadequate money to purchase meals.
I am asking for financial help to start my medical journey . I have applied to various institutions where I
have been accepted for nursing and bachelors and of applied science . I have applied at The University if
the West Indies for medicine, Nursing and Microbiology however I haven't gotten a response . The worst
reality and fair I am facing is that I won't be accepted since it is very competitive.
Hence ,my number one goal is to apply to Cuba medical School in order to get a fair acceptance .my
Goal is to dedicate my time and talent to this field of study since I am very passionate about it in order
to contribute to my countries development in health care among other assets lack . I am seeking every
opportunity to be funded on this medical journey "
It I know dreaming is great ,but making it a reality is greater and imI eagerly , humbly reaching out to
this company or to someone in making this a reality in order to make everyone proud.I truly anticipate
your response .
