This packet is a 3-part learning material intended for discussions and assessments covering
prelim, midterm and final terms. A student enrolled in the course is required to have internet access
as this procedure utilizes the blended learning approach (synchronous and asynchronous). Grade is
obtained upon full accomplishment of tasks included in this packet.
II COURSE DESCRIPTION
Purposive Communication is about writing, speaking and presenting to different audiences for
various purposes. (CMO 20 s 2013). Purposive Communication is a three-unit course that develops
students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and intellectual awareness through
multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a
multicultural audience in a local or global context. It equips students with tools for critical evaluation of
a variety of texts and focuses on the power of language and the impact of images to emphasize the
importance of conveying messages responsibly. The knowledge, skills, and insights that students gain
from this course may be used in their other academic endeavors, their chosen disciplines, and their
future career as they compose and produce relevant oral, written, audio-visual and/or web-based
output for various purposes.

A. BLENDED LEARNING
Terminologies
For the purpose of this course, the term blended learning refers to an approach used in a
teaching-learning experience using a combination of the synchronous and asynchronous
procedures.
Synchronous learning refers to a learning procedure that is supported by media such as video
conferencing and chat where real time facilitated sessions take place. The ability of learners to
actively participate in a simulated live online discussion is enhanced.
Asynchronous learning refers to a learning procedure that allows learners respond to learning
requirements without having to comply to real time log in to sessions. This further allows learners
ample time to accomplish tasks on a self-paced learning mode.
G Suite is a suite of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools. It comprises Account,
Gmail, Drive, Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat, Meet, Sites, Groups, YouTube,
Photos, Vaults, Hangouts, Forms, Keep, Jamboard, Cloud Sea, Collections, Cloud Print, and
others.
A Google Account is a username and password that can be used to log in to consumer Google
applications.
A Gmail account is a free Google account with an email address that ends in @gmail.com.
Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service developed by Google.
Google Classroom Google Classroom is a free application designed to help teacher and
students to communicate. The application can be utilized to organize and manage tasks,
assignments, exercises and other course-related activities. It is a platform that ties together
Google’s G Suite tools such as Gmail, Hangouts, Calendar,
Google Docs is a free Web-based application in which documents and spreadsheets can be
created, edited and stored online. Files can be accessed from any computer with an Internet
connection and a full-featured Web browser. Google Docs is a part of a comprehensive package
of online applications offered by and associated with Google.
Google Sheets is a free web-based program for creating and editing spreadsheets. Google
Sheets, along with Google Docs and Google Slides, is a part of what Google calls Google
Drive. It's similar to how Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint are each
individual parts within Microsoft Office.
