Natural Vs Synthetic Questions, Checklist, Rubric

The document provides a checklist and rubric for evaluating student presentations on synthetic products. It lists 6 questions students should answer about the synthetic product: 1) What is it? 2) Why is it important to humans? 3) What natural resources are used to make it? 4) What are the atomic structures of reactants and the product? 5) How is it made? 6) What are the negative and positive impacts of making and using it compared to a natural alternative? It also lists criteria for "Meeting" the rubric, including citing 3 reliable sources and using scientific language to communicate information clearly in writing or presentations.

Natural vs Synthetic Questions, Checklist, rubric.

I have made the original three questions into 6 to help to make sure you have the required
information. You should be able to answer each question with the information you have
gathered.

o What is the synthetic product?

o What is the importance to humans? (Why do humans use/make this synthetic product?)
o What natural resources are used to make the synthetic material?
o What are the atomic structures of the reactants and the synthetic product?
o How is the synthetic material made? What chemical process(es) are used to create the
synthetic product?)
o What are the negative and positive impacts/effects of making and using the synthetic
material, compared to making and/or using a more natural material with a similar
function?
