1. WHAT ARE YOUR BEST PRACTISE FOR POSITIVE
ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR?

→ POSITIVE ORGANIZATINAL BEHAVIOR (POB) is defined as “the study

and application of positively oriented human resources strengths and psychological
capacities that can be measured, developed, and effectively managed for
performance improvement in today workplace”.

The best practice for positive organizational behavior is to develop culture of

openness, trust, freely statement of ideas, Humor at work, to eliminate envy
among employees. Effectively communicated organization’s mission, vision and
values; cultivating strong relationships between co-workers and encouraging
collaboration between them to reinforce the idea that they are a team;
embracing autonomy and transparency with strong leadership ,but flexibility of
workers in mind; promoting positive team atmosphere based on equality and
collaboration, just to name a few. SELF- EFFICENCY, HOPE, OPTIMISM, RESILIENCE
are four key psychological resources capacities that best meet inclusion criteria
for POB.

Objectives of positive organizational behavior

In my view best practice to develop a positive organizational behavior are:
positive behavior, positive leadership, healthy team work, system driven excellent
processes and so on... and this result in to POB and huge bottom line.
Here are some practices to be followed up for establishment of positive
organizational behavior, which are as follows:
 Group thinking
 Measuring change
 Planning
 Feedback

GROUP THINKING: In some workplace, such as the healthcare industry,

collective knowledge is important. In many instances the margin for error is
minimal. Workers united by a common identity and purpose must be reminded of
this shared identity on a regular basis.

MEASURING CHANGE: Organizations can also measure change in several

different ways. For instance, companies can create surveys that measure the
willingness of employees to change certain behavior or organization practices. By
the same token, the effectiveness of change can be measured by evaluating the
opinions of employees once changes have been implemented.

FEEDBACK: Instead, having a positive feedback system in place will result in

greater motivation and change. Employees who are trained to focus on the
positive aspects of their own behavior will think and focus on positive change,
rather than what they are doing wrong.

PLANNING: No lasting positive change ever comes without some advance

planning. It is being stated that organizations need to plan for change by
minimizing return. Companies should conduct research to identify barriers to
positive change in workplace, so they can eliminate potential obstacles from the
outset.

2. WHY ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR IS MULTI

DISCIPLINARY FIELD TO STUDY?

Organizational behavior is called multidisciplinary because it abstracts disciplines

from various field and combine those disciplines to make a new and useful
subject. Also, organizational behavior has taken disciplines from PSYCHOLOGY,
SOCIAL PSYCOLOGY, ANTROPOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY. The detailed information of the
following disciplines is given as follows:

1. PSYCHOLOGY: A psychologist studies almost all aspects of behavior.

Psychology deals with studying human behavior that seeks to explain and
sometimes change the behavior of humans and other animals.
 Attitude analysis
 Personality analysis
 Senses and sensations
 Perception
 Learning theories
 Motivational analysis
 Rationality
 Decision making and work stress.

2. SOCIAL PSYCOLOGY: It deals with how people are affected by other

individuals who are physically present or who are imagined or implied the
presence of others.
 Intro of change
 Attitude and behavioral changes
 Group process
 Communication
 Teamwork
 Group decision making

3. ANTHROPOLGY: The main aim to anthropology is to acquire a better

understanding of the relationship between the human being and environment.
 Cultural dynamics
 Organizational theories
 Status Symbols
 Cross Cultural Relation

4. SOCIOLOGY: The major focus of sociologists is on studying the social systems

in which individuals fill their roles. The focus is on group dynamics. They have
made their greatest contribution to OB through their study of group behavior
in organizations, particularly formal and sophisticated organizations.
 Interpersonal relation
 Morale
 Role and status
 Environment influences
 Public opinion
 Social changes
 Social satisfaction and values
 Social institutions.
3. WHY WE NEED TO STUDY ORGANIZATINAL BEHAVIOUR
IN FAST CHANGING TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN
ENVIORNMENT?

→The rapid advances and the increased reliance on technology, the question of
how it is changing work and employment is highly salient for scholars of
organizational psychology and organizational behavior. The answer attempts to
interpret the progress, direction, and purpose of current research on the effects
of technology on work and organizations. Technology has shifted the way the
workplace looks today. While many people still go into the office for their
workplace, other employee have the option to work remotely. Some companies
even operate strictly online and do not require brick and mortar workplace. In
addition, video conferences have replaced in- person meetings and changed the
dynamic of many professional, working relationship.

ENVIRONMENT- Forces, Pressure, Practice, Influence which affect functions of

organizations.
Environment of a business has a great impact on the functioning of the firm. It
offers opportunities and treats along with limitations and pressures influencing
the structure and functioning of the business. In order to understand the
relationship between an organization and environment. The interaction between
them in some areas are:

i. EXCHANGING ENVIRONMENT: An organization and its environment

exchange info between themselves. Organizations need information about the
external environment for planning, decision making and control purpose. Also the
organization transmit info to external agencies. Therefore, the exchange of
information is an important interaction between an organization and its
environment.
ii. EXCHANGING RESOURCES: An organization and its environment also
exchange resources. A firm needs input line finance, manpower, equipment, etc.
from its environment. Typically, the resources requirement by an organization are
categorized into 5M’S- MANPOWER, MONEY, MATERIAL, MACHINE, METHOD.

iii. EXCHANGING INFLUENCE AND POWER: The third important interaction

between an organization and its environment is the exchange of influence and
power. There are time and scenario when organization holds a position wherein it
can yield considerable power and influence over some aspects of the external
environment. This usually happens when they have command over resources and
information.

THE IMPORTNCE OF ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR ARE:

 UNDERSTANDING HUMAN BEHAVIOR: Organization is made up of

people and without people there would be no organization. If the manger want
to understand the organization in which they work, they must first understand
the people who make up the organizations. OB is a tool which helps the
manager in understanding human behavior in all direction in which the human
beings interact.
i. Individual level
ii. Interpersonal level
iii. Group behavior
iv. Intergroup behavior.
 CONTROLLING AND DIRECTING THE HUMAN BEHAVIOR: Manager
can influence the behavior through control and direction. After understanding
the human behavior in the organization, the next job is to influence the
behavior so that it confirms to the standards requirement for achieving
organizational goals.
i. Use of power and sanction
ii. Leadership
iii. Communication
iv. Creating climatic conditions.

 ORGANISATIONAL ADAPTATION: Organizational as a dynamic entity are

characterized by pervasive change. In this age of environment variability, the
real job of a manager is to provide continuity in the organization because
organizations must adopt themselves to the environment change, by making
certain arrangements. However, such arrangements are always resisted by
inside people.
4. IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON LEADERSHIP IN TODAY’S
ORGANIZATION ESPESICALLY DURING THE PERIOD OF
LOCKDOWN. COMMENT?

→The 21st century has proven to be an era of immense technological change. No

longer is technology something that only the engineering and computer industries
need to incorporate into their ongoing strategies. Every company needs to
consider how to better prepare their current and future leaders to meet the
challenges presented by technological disruption.

LEADERSHIP- It is all about doing the right things at the right time. It’s about
motivating employees to deliver their best and achieve a common goal despite
the impediments. It involves creating a workplace environment which makes
employees feel empowered to deliver solutions in the most effective manner.

LEDERSHIP AND TECHNOLOGY-The constantly involving technology has left

no area of business untouched. Surpassing all the confinements, technology is
now impacting all areas of life. No matter what the size of the organization,
technology can be seen happily waving at us from all corners. With the help of
technology, leaders can view the number of tasks accomplished by team
members in real-time. It also helps them communicate any change in the tasks
they are doing no matter where they are. All in all, technology has given birth to a
new leadership style; a style that empowers and inspires people to take upon the
most compelling business opportunities using the best of technology.
TECHNOLOGY IS IMPACTING LEADERSHIP:
Embracing technology is the most vital ingredient of success for managers who
aspire to be leaders. With the use of latest technology tools, it is very easy for
leaders to lead employees and achieve organizational goals.

Technology gives benefits and get addressed as a cool leader are:

Give flexibility to employees
Ability to manage anywhere in real-time
Overcome language Barriers
Automating Management

The impact of technology on leadership is substantial and the benefits are many.
However, one thing that remains as a challenge for all leaders across the world is
to utilize the right technology at the right time and in the right ways. The aim
should be to apply technology on the right tasks and reduce the need for human
efforts.

#LOCKDOWN AND TECHNOLOGY: During this lockdown period,

Technology breaks lockdown barrier in many ways, such as using video
conferencing apps like zoom, google meet, web-ex etc. by teachers professors,
business man to serve the purpose of existence of institutions, schools, collages,
offices.
# Initiatives by companies for seamless work from home for employees.
# Financial service companies, Edelweiss Group started implementing various
tools and partnering with companies like Microsoft, Z-scaler and AWS for better
productivity and a better experience for its customers, even in these
unprecedented times.
5.“BEHAVIOR IS FUNCTION OF PERSON AND ITS
ENVIRONMENT”. DISCUSS BRIEFLY IN CONTEXT TO THIS
PANDEMIC PERIOD (COVID-19).

→Changing your behavior and sticking to new habits can be hard. No doubt about
it. Thankfully, Lewin’s Equation keeps things simple.
B=f (P1, E). Behavior is a function of the person in their Environment. Improve
yourself and adjust your environment to make good habits harder. If you can do
those two things, sticking with better habits will be much easier.

FOUR ELEMENTS OF OB ARE:

 TECHNOLOGY- Machine, Methods, Process
 PERSON- Individual, Interpersonal, Group
 ENVIRONMENT- Internal, External
 STRUCTURE- Jobs, Relationship

This equation says that the variations in human behavior are largely due to the
fact that persons differ with respect to their various attributes because of their
genetic endowments and diverse experiences and so do the environments they
are placed in here the environment is conceptual as it is perceived or made sense
of by the persons. Individuals vary with respect to their intelligence, interests,
values, attitudes, and many other personality characters. Besides individual
differences psychologists also believe that there are variations in behavior which
occur due to environmental factors. They look to explanations of various
psychological phenomena based on individual environment interactions. Although
it is difficult that they do seek out the relative importance of heredity and
environment in explaining human behavior.

 Organization is made for the people, of the people, by the people.

 People is the only living source in the organization.
 OB is the study and behavior of people.
 People is the integral part of the organization.

# There are basically three imp role that influence behavior are-
 ORGANISATIONAL ADAPTATION
 CONTROLLING AND DIECTING BEHAVIOR
 ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

# BEHAVIOR AND COVID-19 –

 As a business close to help prevent transmission of COVID-19, financial

concerns and job losses are one of the first human impacts of the vires.

 Not knowing how this pandemic will plat out also affects our economic,
physical, and mental well-being.

 Despite this fear, businesses and communities in many regions have shown
a more altruistic response in the face of crisis- actions which could help
countries preparing for COVID-19.
Social distancing and lockdown have also prompted altruistic behaviors, in part
because of a sense that “Many people report being borne or concerned about
putting on weights. Others have discovered a slower pace of life and by not going
out and socializing have found more time for family, others and even their pets.
The downside of self-isolation or social lockdown are symptoms of traumatic
stress, confusion, and anger, all of which are exacerbated by fear of infection,
having limited access to supplies of necessities, inadequate information or the
experience of economic loss or stigma. This stress and anxiety can lead to
increased alcohol consumption, as well as increase in domestic and family
violence.
