....giving second chances, I don’t need all the answers. Feeling good in my
skin, I just keep on dancing....
Treat People With Kindness- Harry Styles
Individuality and opinion is what drives the modern age society. Breaking
through the stereotypes and making every minute count, the modern men
and menswear have blurred lines between the women and menswear.
Taking the same idea forward the designed collection for men have
blurred lines between the men and the women and to produce something
which is more individual and conveys and speaks for the wearer.

"My shirt and my girlfriend's pants"

The collection is inspired by the disco’s attendees of 60’s, not confining


their fashion to what society taught but showed who they actually are.
Many called them Gays and feminine but the rage developed a beautiful
inspiration for today. Red carpet appearances by Harry Styles, Ranveer
Singh, Timothee etc are to be looked for. Designers for reference are Kim
jones(Dior), Alessandro Michele(Gucci) etc.

Dior’s classic Bar Jacket, for women is one of the driving inspiration for the
collection. Along with that, the ongoing celebrity culture has also influenced
the process.

Trend Study AW 20-21
The runway during the fashion shows at Milan, London, New York and Paris
saw fluid silhouettes that are mixture of women wears elegance and men’s wear
tailoring. Erot and Ralph Lauren presented modern heritage that gave vintage
clothing all modern vibe. Gucci and Dior presented + androgyny themed clothes
in bright hues.

Popular themes explored on the runways were, Vintage yet mod-


ern clothes, Utility and tech oriented live jackets, flowy nostalgic
silhouettes for winters, wild blocking of colors, decreased sleeve
length etc. WGSN report showed bringing back of 70s and 80s
and modern interpretation of nostalgia. Celebrity culture is mov-
ing towards binary fashion and wearing bold and elegant pieces
which defines modern men.
The road is my runway,
the stares are my returns,
killing every judgment with
kindness and elegance. The
mood established here is
very retro Disco. The David
defines elegance and the
idea of masculinity.

According to studies, the maximum number of millennial are
suffering from anxiety and depression. The growing social media
pressure and losing connectivity with the physical world is resulting in
discomfort the society. The women wear collection designed takes
further the issue and draws inspiration from the Eight fold path of
Buddha and the style is inspired from the surreal artists of time.

"everything you seek is seeking you”

Elsa Schiaparelli’s idea of couture,


Lady Gaga’s expressionism
and Valentino’s bold and bold
aesthetics inspires the collection.
The surreal style of illustration of
the motifs and digital bubbling
textures along with the flowy
huge silhouette creates room for
self expression for the wearer.

ism era defined the graphics and silhouettes created.

The runways saw different clashes of print as well as forms this year at Paris and
Trend Study SS 20
Milan fashion weeks. Designer labels like Valentino, Emilia Pucci, Maison Mer-
gielia and Indian designers like Shivan and Narresh, Bobo Calcutta showcased
their collection that depicted larger than life silhouettes and prints in womens
wear section.
Met Gala 2019 also influenced alot of street style looks The Camp themed
event saw different levels of exaggerations and dramas.

Self- Orientalism is a concept where the-traditional elements are modified
and stylished to present a modern version of the heritage. Taking the
concept further the resort wear collection produced here draws inspirations
from famous Raja Ravi Verma paintings and architecture brilliance of
Jaipur, presented in acid colored trance setup. The collection celebrates
India and its modern take on women and culture during past. Indian new
age illustrators, designers are taking up themes from mythologies and
presenting a punk version of the same. Manish Arora has shaped this
culture in 90s and that is still inspiring.
Illustrators like Sam Madhu, designers like
Sabyasachi have inspired the direction
Of the collection. The resortwear
presented is appropriate for beach
holidays and comprises of bikinis
kaftans etc.

Manish Arora has presented Indian modern in the world and has opened up new dimen-
sions towards this modern take on Indian culture. Age new music artists like Raja Kumari is
also shaping the fashion and culture mix in India

Resort collection of Luxury fashion houses this year


presented scarf dresses, Kaftans in silk, Body suits with
cut out details. Indian market saw modern take on
traditional prints and graphics. Indian designer duo like
Shivan and Narresh showcased modern resort collection
inspired from indian traditional silhouettes and prints
generated from the mythologies. The colors suggest
were acid hues, neons and sketch colors for resort wear.
Vibrancy and colors clash are noticed on international
as well as Indian runways.

Tulip like elegance enhanced by the power of the stare, women
empowerment movement in India had been drawing inspirations from
the glorious history of women of the pasts. Not only the queens of the
times there were women who not only earned for themselves but also for
their families. The prostitutes, Nager Vadhus dancers in 60’s bollywood
movies have never been considered part of main stream society.

"saree not sorry”

The collection developed here uses intricately weaved Brocades from


Varanasi brocade weavers cluster. The collection is inspired from the
women in Bollywood in 60’s and is a satire on the objectification of women
in Indian society. The collection speaks for empowered women and them
enjoying their raw beauty. The textile materials
Used are hand-weaved banarasi brocade in pure silk
and the silhouettes express the self orientalist
approach towards Indian traditional silhouettes.

Couture pieces showcased at V&A museum, paintings and art works from
rural India, mythological paintings of Krishna and his Gopis have inspired the • Seduction
collection.

Trend Study SS 20
Indian textiles this season was showcased as textile with
different possibilities. The motifs and silhouettes were
modernized to meet the global need keeping the authen-
ticity intact. Designer labels like SGBG, Raw Mango,Sabya-
sachi produced collections that redefined the textiles and
revisited the tales of nostalgia from the past. The colors
bold an beautiful with god embellished surfaces adorned
the models walking down the runways in India as well as
western fashion capitals too.

Pauri is a traditional brocade fabric


produced in Pilli Kothi area of Varanasi.
The textile material is usually 370mts.
wide and features figures of gods and
goddesses. This technique is derived from
the traditional Kimkhaab and meenakari.
Each motifs are hand weaved with Feakua
technique. Popular motifs are gods and
goddesses, Gautam Buddha, Ganga etc.

us-earthlings out there just wanted to say...
Earth- Lil Dicky
The collection here derives inspiration
from parts of Car,s engine. The materials
used here are waste materials collected
from places and then are embroidered on
old denims. The mood here created are
very rebellious and strong. The climatic
disruption, and humans continuously
destroying the plants are the points-that
initially shaped the design process.
All the materials used here are waste
material hence mixing and matching is
used to design.
