PALERMO, MA. BERNADETTE M.

BSA ACT - 181

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND SOCIETY

HOW DO YOU VIEW E-LEARNING?

Learning can be done wherever you are nowadays. Traditionally, the educators used to make a
face-to-face discussion with their students. However, in the late 2000s, E-learning became well-known
especially in different universities. It makes the exchange of knowledge between the teacher and
students more convenient. E-Learning is the use of Internet and digital technologies to create
experiences that educate fellow human beings (Horton, 2001). The learning virtually grown rapidly
across the world. It allows the educators to share educational materials such as videos, presentation,
images, and audios in which the students will study and learn with those materials.

E-learning helps me as a college student in many ways. It saves time and energy. Instead of
travelling to school for almost two hours, I can study more about our lesson and learn from our home
while not feeling exhausted. E-Learning is also a cost-effective. The money that I use to pay for my
transportation and food while in school, I can save it for my other necessities like clothing, etc. Learning
through this kind of set up are easily and quickly. It also helps me to access the learning material
conveniently. Anytime and anywhere. E-learning is also viewed as a platform to educate young learners.
According to the study, the most effective way to teach the children is to learn by using their senses. The
sense of sight and hearing are the most important senses in the learning process. For example, a child
watches a video of an alphabet songs. If this consistently watch, the child will memorize the picture and
the pronunciation. E-learning also removes the barrier for the higher education especially those people
who are disabled, has a parental responsibility, experiencing life circumstances, and limited resources. It
allows the students pursue their studies at their convenient place. The educators shall prepare tape
records and videos to be viewed. The employers prefer an individual who attained higher educational
degree. Since adults work everyday, the adult learner who works for 8 hours or more for a day can
pursue their additional or continuation degree through e-Learning. It offers night and weekend class for
them to attend. With this, it enables an adult to become more fit for higher job positions.

One of my best e-Learning experience is when in the midst of covid pandemic. The professors
are sending the learning modules (sending lecture videos and notes) and giving tasks to be submitted at
our most convenient time. Most of them are considerate. I can learn at my own place  at my preferred
time. It saves time and energy. Overall, online learning is more cheaper as compare to traditional
learning. It provides alternative way of education quickly and better.
