Operant Conditioning Notes

This document discusses the four types of operant conditioning: positive reinforcement which increases a behavior by adding a rewarding stimulus; negative reinforcement which increases a behavior by removing an unpleasant stimulus; positive punishment which decreases a behavior by adding an unpleasant stimulus; and negative punishment which decreases a behavior by removing a rewarding stimulus. Examples are given such as giving a dog a treat for following a command or scolding a child for cursing.
