I. Objectives

At the end of the period, learners are expected to:


a. Identify the ingredients in preparing homemade ice cream.
b. Demonstrate the procedures in making ice cream.
c. Appreciate the process of preparing a frozen dessert.

II. Subject Matter

Materials: Actual tools, utensils and ingredients needed, pictures, tarpapel

III. Procedure

A. Preparation

Recall concepts about the classification of desserts.


Discuss briefly the frozen desserts.

c. Motivation

The teacher will show pictures of stressed man and woman.


(gender sentivity must be considered in selecting examples of illustrations
to motivate learners)

Let the students construct a sentence describing the pictures posted. Ask
learners to analyze the relationship of the pictures shown. Guide them to
state the relationship of first two pictures shown (stressed man and
woman) to desserts.

B. Presentation

Ask learners to define “frozen desserts” and let them cite some examples.
Show the picture of the KIDS’ FAVORITE dessert--- ICE CREAM.

(The teacher will distribute copy of the recipe for each student.)

Play the video about the steps in making ice cream.


Demonstrate the step by step procedure in making ice cream.
(In preparation for mise en place, ask students some questions about the
conversion/ equivalent of ingredients like cups to tablespoons,
tablespoons to teaspoon, and so on)
Ask the students to get involved in the demonstration. Remind students to
observe safety precautions and sanitary practices in preparing foods.

C. Application

Ask some students to demonstrate the process of preparing ice cream


with the supervision of the teacher.
D. Generalization

Ask learners: What are the ingredients needed to make a homemade ice
cream?

Post the picture of a saying “Stressed if spelled backward is dessert” and


let learners say something about it. Ask them the importance of preparing
frozen dessert like ice cream.

IV. Evaluation

Group Task: Class is divided into four groups. Each group must be able to
prepare and present ice cream/ frozen dessert. Use the rubric prepared in
assessing learners/group performance.
