9.1.1Operators medical surveillance is carried out as follows:

 Pre-employment medical examination: SCT Company carries out

medical examinations for job applicants especially those working in the
field of radiography. This examination aims at assuring the applicant
physical state to work in the field of radiography.
 Health periodic examination : it is carried out once a year or more if
exposure condition of operator is different from recommendation
 Special medical examination: it is carried out when operator is
suspected to have received extra radiation dose more than the
permissible limits or in case of radiological exposure accidents.
 Radiation operators are subjected to Such medical examinations
including blood tests and other tests in a periodic manner (at least once
a year) the company management determined to have such tests in
private medical laboratories in addition to tests carried out in Syrian
Atomic Energy Commission Laboratories. The results of such tests are
kept in a special book.

9.1.2. Radiological Monitoring Of Operators:

 Any operator dealing with ionized radiation source is supplied with a

suitable dosimeter to measure the radiation dose he is exposed to.
 Operators should not exchange meters or have common use of one
 Meter.

accumulated within a limited period, usually two months. The old film
badge will be substituted with the new film badge and the old one sent
to protection department in Syrian Atomic Energy Board, Where
reading of the film recorded. Report registering of radiation dose sent
to the company kept in the record of radiation doses for operators after
cognizance by radiation protection officer and operators themselves. If
a suspect arises about monitored radiation Operator has been exposed
to extra radiation dose during an accident, then his film is sent to the
board as soon as possible for reading the radiation dose registered
on the film

9.2. Measuring the Dose Daily By Means Of Instantaneous

Dosimeter Supplied with Sound Alarm:

For measuring the dose daily, an Instantaneous Dosimeter is used. It is

supplied with an alarm emitting distinguished sound signal at a certain
radiation dose. Registered dose on the dosimeter is read at the end of every
work day by radiation protection officer or his deputy. Such dose is recorded
in a special record. Daily doses are collected weekly, then monthly to be
compared with the operator's doses of the previous months and recorded on
film badge.
Recharging or initializing dosimeter before usage. Dosimeter is calibration in
the Atomic Energy Board every year. Calibration label is stuck on the
dosimeter.

9.2.1. Investigation Level:

Minimize radiation doses, the radiographers exposed to, the company

adopts additional limit on the radiation doses for radiation operators. Such
limit equals annual dose limit for operators divided on three .
When radiation dose rate for one of the radiation operators exceeds such limit
in the company, radiation protection officer of the company will carry out
detection of the reasons that caused the operator to be exposed to such dose
Is operator has really been exposed to such dose, or the dosimeter only is
exposed to such dose. Then the real dose the operator had been exposed is
calculated, with the suggestion of procedures to be followed in order to avoid
the repetition of exposure to such doses. The frisking is recorded in a special
report. After the Company Manager takes cognizance of such report, a copy
of which will be sent to:
