Assessment Criteria
Tutorial Classes (Summative Assessment)
Students are required to attend 80% of all tutorial classes. Students will be
expected to prepare for and contribute to class discussions and case studies.
This participation will be assessed as part of formative assessment.
Students will participate in various roles that may include, student observer, client,
receptionist and dispensary assistant.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in these clinic classes in a
professional manner, and are required to wear a CIT Clinic uniform.
Students will be expected to record a full naturopathic health assessment (taken by
third year student practitioner), including results of physical examination. They will
then be required to analyse the case and formulate an appropriate therapeutic
strategy and treatment protocol.
Students will write these cases up as a clinic log and will present and discuss their
cases as part of the tutorial class for this subject. Clinic logs templates will be
available on eLearn
As part of their assessment for this subject, students will also choose a case from
their clinic logs, write this case up at greater length and submit it for assessment
(See Assignment 1).
The contact with clients will allow the students to consolidate their learning.
Students are to supply their own clients for this practical component of the
course.
Assignment 1
Clinic Log/Case Write up / Clinic Research
Students are to choose one case from their clinic observation / clinic log entries.
This case should include some research and is to be written up as follows:
1. Case Summary
2. Naturopathic understanding & causal chain
3. Therapeutic strategies & goals
4. Treatment protocol (herbal, nutritional, diet and lifestyle)
5. Reflections of the case, research & preparation for next consultation.

Re-assessment
If the assessment feedback you receive indicates that you have not achieved
competency in any aspect of the assessment, you will be given one opportunity to be
re-assessed at a time to be negotiated with your teacher.
Note that if you are required to resubmit your work in a graded subject, you will be
disqualified from receiving a grade higher than pass level when your work is re-
marked.
Academic Appeal
You have the right to appeal against decisions on your assessment. It is best to first
discuss any issues with your teacher. Most issues can be successfully resolved at this
level. If no resolution is achieved then make an appointment with the Education
Manager or Centre Director. Most issues can be resolved at this level. If you are not
satisfied with the outcome you can take the issue to the Student Services Hub.
