For me the essence of Rizal’s travels was to broaden his knowledge on different cultures
that he learned from his journey. His travels became a bridge to help him achieve his aspiration
for Reform.
2. Would you consider Rizal a congenial person based on his interactions? Cite some instances to
support your answer.
Yes, I consider Rizal as a congenial person one example is when Rizal was admired for
being a good leader. He gained the respect of his colleagues in the Propaganda Movement like
Marcelo H. del Pilar who was once his tough rival for the leadership of the organization. As a
leader, Rizal was transformational, charismatic, visionary, and most importantly, incorruptible.
He displayed a kind of leadership that was not motivated by personal interest but the willingness
to sacrifice oneself for the good of the majority which he described in his novels as the national
sentiment.
Yes it is sensible to invest in education because it can help a person widen his/her
knowledge and outlook in life. Education helps a person to shape his/her ideals and support them
with learnings that can greatly affect their standaning.
4. What can students learn from Rizal as regards his seemingly endless pursuit for knowledge?
What students can learn from Rizal’s endless pursuit for knowledge is that knowing
something is definitely better than not knowing anything at all. Ignorance is a choice, and
knowledge can greatly help a person if he/she just pursues it.
5. If given a chance, would you pursue further studies like the national hero? Why or why not?
If I were given a chance, I would pursue further studies like what our national hero did
because it doesn’t hurt to know more and sometimes I do believe that a pen is mightier than the
sword.
