    This amendment revises the Indian Standard IS 280 from 2006 on mild steel wire for general engineering purposes. It substitutes the requirement that wire be drawn from wire rods conforming only to IS 7887 to also allow wire rods conforming to any other specifications that meet the requirements of IS 7887. This broadens the allowed specifications for source wire rods.

    (Page 1, clause 5) ― Substitute the following for the existing:

    ‘The wire shall be drawn from wire rods conforming to IS 7887 or any other specifications which meet the
    requirements of IS 7887.’
