SEASON OF CHRISTMAS
The readings from Propers II and III for Christmas may be used as alternatives for Christmas
Day. If Proper III is not used on Christmas Day, it should be used at some service during the
Christmas cycle because of the significance of John’s prologue.

SEASON OF EPIPHANY (ORDINARY TIME)
The Proper for the Sunday after the Epiphany that immediately precedes Ash Wednesday may be
replaced, in those churches using Transfiguration readings on that Sunday, by the readings for
the Last Sunday after the Epiphany.
