We the MSc Nursing students of first year visited KG College of Nursing.

They welcomed as into the auditorium; the principal mam explained about objectives of the KG
College of Nursing.

HISTORY

 KG School of Nursing and KG College of Nursing was founded in the year 1995.
 In 1998, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course was also started
 In 2001, M.Sc. Nursing was started in various departments
 At present various courses are initiated in the nursing department
 All types of labs re originated from 2001.

1. Hospital
 KG Hospital, run by K.Govindaswamy Naidu Medical Trust, was founded in 1974 by
'Dharmaveera' K.Govindaswamy Naidu, a leading industrialist and a philanthropist from
Annur village in Coimbatore district.
 K.Govindaswamy Naidu Medical Trust, a not-for-profit charity organization, is part of the $
150-million KG Group of Companies.
 Started as a 10-bed hospital in 1974, the Hospital is today a 200-bed multi-super specialty
high-tech hospital, offering a variety of healthcare servicesT
 he Hospital now has on its rolls 250 highly qualified and experienced doctors, and, 800 well
trained nurses and para-medical staff.
 It is equipped with the most sophisticated diagnostic facilities like MRI, the World's fastest
and Asia's first 128 Slice Heart CT Scanner, Neuro-Navigation System, Digital Thermogram
and Painless Mammogram, Cath Lab, Sleep Lab and Bone Densitometry.
 KG Hospital is a recognized Designated Blood Bank for nearly 200 hospitals located in
Coimbatore and the adjoining areas.
2. CLASSROOMS
The classrooms are separate for each year, which is well equipped with latest facilities like
smart class and AV aids for teaching. They are also well lighted and cross ventilation is
ensured.
The strength of students that can be accommodated in classroom is about 50-60.
3. LIBRARY
They have very good library facility with almost around 1000 books, journals including Indian
and International Journals, Articles in nursing section.
They also have systems for net references.
4. LABORATORIES

They have labs for each speciality

 Anatomy & Physiology lab


 Medical Surgical lab
 Maternal and child health lab
 Nutrition lab
 Computer lab
5. HOSTEL
There is good hostel facility with inbuilt mess, latrines, play area and TV hall
Apart from this they also have Guest area, sick room.
4 students per room is allocated with separate study table, cot and bathroom for 8 students.
6. SPORTS GROUND
They have a good playground as well as sports room for storing sports eqipments.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FRO STUDENTS TO JOIN SCHOOL OF NURSING

Eligibility criteria for admission to GNM

 10+2 with English. Must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks in the qualifying
examinations and in English individually from any recognized Board. Candidates from the
State Open School recognized by the State Government and the National Institute of Open
School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government are also eligible. However, candidates
with Science subjects are preferable.

 10+2 with English having 40% marks in vocational ANM course from the schools
recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

 10+2 with English having 40% marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from
schools recognized by CBSE Board/the State/the Centre.
 Registered ANM with pass marks

STAFF RECRUITMENT

The Staffs are recruited based on qualification and experience, by having an Face to face interview
and demo class.

QUALIFICATION

TUTOR : B.Sc. Nursing, 3 years of experience

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR : M.Sc. Nursing, 5 years of experience

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR : M.Sc. Nursing, 8 years of experience

PROFESSOR : M.Sc. Nursing or Ph.D., 10 years of experience

PRINCIPAL : M.Sc. Nursing, Ph.D., 15 years of experience in that 5 years of

teaching experience

CONCLUSION

Through the field visit, it is a great opportunity to know about the organization pattern of college of
nursing, various departments and their head, qualifications for each post and their responsibilities.
