CHAPTER 1

PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

Tour package is a pre arrangement, prepaid trip that combines two or more travel

components like airfare, airport transfer accommodation and other services tour package is a

total tourism product consisting of transportation from the market area of destination and

recreational activities promoted by the tourist. Tour can be a long or short in duration and

distance. This may be a one day or overnight package, or they could period of a month or more.

Tour package can help you save money, it is usually less expensive than traveling on your own.

Here in the travel agencies can negotiate better deals with airlines and hotels. They can also

reduce the transportation expenses.

According to Gregorg (n.d.), a tour package is advertised journey including specific

features, arranged, and promoted with tour literature by a tour operator and paid for in full by

the tourist before starting the tour. These components are purchased by an individual firm or

company called the “Tour operator”. It combines all the travel components in a package and sell

them at all inclusive prices to the clients.

Many entrepreneurs began to offer the travel and tour package to inspire the rail travel by

organizing excursions for the public at discounted offers. To create a new package is a strategy

to create increased appeal for your ideal customers and to make it easier for your potential

guests. Tour package should be designed to improve the customer experience, increase the

customer spend and length of stay and increase revenue. It must be designed around your

customer needs and interests so that it is instantly appealing to them. This package tour is to

create a package that people and market oriented.

The aim of this study is to present the level of satisfaction on the travel and tour

experience. Therefore the study tries to evaluate the satisfaction of tourists on availing the tour

package.

Statement of the Problem

Tour package, offer deals to consumer at a lower and more competitive rate than

individual booking. For these reason, the researchers chose this topic because tour operators have

its own technique for the satisfaction of travelers. This study aims to answer the following

specific research questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of;

1.1 Age,

1.2 Gender and,

1.3 Civil status

2. What are the levels of satisfaction on travel and tour package experience of the college

students in terms of;

2.1 Accommodation,

2.2 Facilities,

2.3 Full board meals and,

2.4 Eco-tourism fee

3. What are included in travel and tour package?

Research Hypothesis

H1. The tour package experienced by the college students has a positive effect on their

satisfaction.

H2. The tour package experienced by the college students has a negative effect on their

satisfaction depends on their destination.

H3. The tour package experienced by the college students has increased the level of satisfaction.

Significance of the Study

In the tourist destination, tour package is needed to promote to the tourist. This tour

package is a strategy to increase appeal for your ideal customer. This study is significance

because most aspect of the tour package is to improve the experience of the tourist.

To the Students This will help them to determine or choose what tour package are suit

for their needs that will meet their satisfaction.

For the Future Researcher The outcome of this study would provide them a basis for

pursuing another study or a follow up study on similar context of tour package experience. This

study will help them to produce some information regarding evaluation for the levels of

satisfaction on travel and tour package experience.

Scope and Limitation

The main objective of this study is to determine the levels of satisfaction on travel and

tour package experience. The researcher sought to know what will be the level satisfaction of the

college students on travel and tour package experience. It aims to answer the demographic

profile in terms of a) age; b) gender and c) place travel, what are the levels of satisfaction on

travel and tour package experience of the college students in terms of a) accommodation; b)

facilities; c) full board meals and d) eco-tourism fee and what are included in travel and tour

package

The study was done at St. Michael TVET Training and Assessment Center Inc. By the

help of 27 hospitality and tourism business technology students. The research study on the

evaluation for the level of satisfaction on travel and tour package experience was done at St.

Michael TVET Training and Assessment Center Inc. during the first semester of academic year

2020-2021. This study focused on the evaluation for the levels of satisfaction on travel and tour

package experience.
