Abortion in America
An abortion is a medical procedure that ends a pregnancy, abortion have been around for quite
some time now and has become one of the most controversial topics in the United States of
America which resulted in this topic being very ambivalent. According to the article of The
Atlantic people often debate whether it should be legal or not and have even created social group
for protesting that pertains to the topic of abortion. Abortion has become a prominent debate
because supporters claim that abortion should be a women's right and they and are safe,
meanwhile opponents state that abortion cause serious side effects and are another form of
murdering an unborn baby. One of the groups is known as pro-life which agrees with abortion
and the other group being pro-choice which is against abortion. This has caused a major divide
within this country regrading abortion and which decision is considered to be right.

Abortions have become one of the most common ways to end pregnancy.
Pregnancy is any condition or period of time in which a woman is pregnant which is a fetus
developing inside a woman's womb which usually lasts about nine months. Pregnancy can result
in a life and or baby being born. The most common way in which most women get pregnant is by
sexual intercourse. Pregnancy can either be a gift or a curse to some depending on the secretaries
of their one's own life. (Bennett) Pregnancy and raising a child are not for everyone and
sometimes just not at the right time but most importantly one might not be able to take on the
responsibility of carrying and even caring for a child. This can result in one choosing to get an
abortion, but the types of abortion depending on how far a long woman is in her pregnancy.
Abortion is defined in several ways all of which end a pregnancy. There are serval different
types of abortion, which are surgical abortion, spontaneous abortion and medical abortion which
are all depended on the pregnancy trimester. For the first trimester the most common abortion are
medical abortion and vacuum aspiration. For the second trimester the most common abortion are
dilation-evacuation and labor induction abortion. Abortion in the third trimester is rare manly
because of the size of the baby and can be dangers for the mother.
There are many reasons on why a woman would consider and or decide on getting abortion, the
most common reason is an unplanned pregnancy, not ready to be a parent yet, not good timing,
are in abusive relationship or were sexually assaulted, pregnancy is dangerous or bad for their
health or they just don’t want to be a parent. (McCurdy)But Everyone has their own unique and
The controversy surrounding abortion is pretty much divided into two groups Pro-Life and Pro-
Choice. In some cultures, and religions, abortion is frowned upon as it is considered to be moral
wrong. While on the other hand some feel that abortion is a self-choose and don't see anything
Pro-Life or also known as the anti-abortion movement, the pro-life movement is a social and
political movement in the United States that consist of different elements opposing induced
abortion on both religious and moral stands and supports its legal prohibit or restriction. In which
they advocate for human life from the baby being born to even as the baby as a zygote they
support all forms to the right life. (Bruce)The anti-abortion movement see abortion as something
frowned upon as it is considered and or perceived as murder. Most of the pro-life activist feels as
if abortion is moral wrong and that there should be law reagitating the topic of abortion.
Pro-Choice or also known as the abortion-rights movements advocates supporting the rights for
woman at that they should have the legal right to have an elective abortion meaning the right to
terminate one's pregnancy. In which they are believe that women have the freedom and the right
to choose abortion. They also feel that abortion is a personally protected choice that all women
should have the right to. Pro- Choice actives also believes that life begins after birth and not so
much during pregnancy. (Scarfone) In fact, there is a Roe V Wade court case in which the
Supreme Court ruled that protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion
without excessive government restriction. Most pro-choice activists feel as if abortion is only a

permits, restricts and prohibits and or regulates the disuses of abortion. Abortion has been a
controversial subject from societies and culture, and religious, moral, ethical, practical, and
political grounds are a constantly consideration in the discussion of abortion. (Montanaro) There
are many legal restrictions when it comes to the topic of abortion in the United States and there
are laws intended or resulting in restricting the availability or practice of abortions in the United
States. The topics of abortion is cut 50/50 and is heavily divide in the U.S currently.
In conclusion abortion is definitely a controversial and divisive issue in the society, culture and
politics of the U.S. Taking into consideration all about abortion it is possible to conclude that
there not a right or wrong answer on the matter of abortion. It is Soule the women choice and
decision if she wants the abortion or not. In addition, abortion is controversial. This topic in itself
its going anywhere anytime soon but will continue to be discussed politically and in society. But
