The authors introduce a three-tiered model to provide greater emotional and mental health services for clinical and non-clinical healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many physiological impacts have been identified as caused by the pandemic, making easy-to-access supportive services important for healthcare workers' well-being. The paper informs other institutions of their progress and solutions. A second study found elevated stress, anxiety, and depression among healthcare workers in China, highlighting the need for more support addressed in the first article.

Miotto, K., Sanford, J., Brymer, M. J., Bursch, B., & Pynoos, R. S. (2020). Implementing
an emotional support and mental health response plan for healthcare  workers during
the COVID-19 pandemic. Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and
Policy, 12(S1), S165–S167. https://doi-org.lib-

The authors, researchers at UCLA, have introduced a three-tiered model to provide
greater emotional and mental health services for their clinical and nonclinical healthcare
workers. Many physiological impacts have been identified to be caused by the pandemic
and it is important for HCW to have easy-to-access supportive services.  This paper was
intended to inform other institutions of their own progress towards better aid for HCW.
While sources like Xiao et al. inform on the problems caused by COVID, this one
provides solutions. HCW’s mental state should be important to everyone considering
they are in the frontlines fighting the pandemic. (W.B)

Xiao, X., Zhu, X., Fu, S., Hu, Y., Li, X., & Xiao, J. (2020). Psychological impact of
healthcare workers in China during COVID-19 pneumonia epidemic: A multi-center
cross-sectional survey investigation. Journal of Affective Disorders, 274, 405–410.
In this article, written for those concerned about Health Care Workers (HCW)
mental well-being, the researchers sought out to study the psychological impact of HCW
in China during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researches, which consisted of individuals
that work for the Hospital of Wuhan University, used two different psychological scales
and came to the conclusion that the pandemic has induced elevated stress, anxiety, and
depression levels for HCW. This article compliments the paper written by Miotto, K et al.
because it illustrated the psychological issues HCW are facing and the need for more
support for them. (W.B)
