"Alluring Beauty of the Hidden Asset"
The old woman with her granddaughter named Claire go to the forest near the
lake at their place to get firewood. Claire got passed by at the lake she froze
where she was being stood. She was amazed on what she had seen. Suddenly
her grandmother appeared.
"That was the Camannawan lake here in Cagayan. It's not the only lake found at
this forest there was also a round lake beside this lake.Do you wanna know the
story about this lake?" the grandmother ask the child.
"Yes grandma please tell me." Claire insisted.
They sat at the bench of tree beside them.
A century ago,in this once dry land where the Camannawan lake now stands,
there was a village whose people were generous, kind and God-fearing.
Prosperity was evident in their beautiful houses, their expensive clothes and
glittering jewelries.
As years passed,rivalry among the people in the village set in that they work hard
to acquire material things more than the others. God-worship was forgotten.
Among them only the married couple Hector and Amelia remain simple folks and
never forget to worship God.
One day, Dana the neighbor of the married couple visit their house.
"Hon, is this curtain fits the window good? I bought it at the supermarket" Amelia
ask her husband.

"Perfect. You have that nice choice huh?" Hector replied.
While fixing their things a neighbor named Dana came in front of them.
"Hey, I just got in because I saw your door open." Dana starts the conversation.
"Oh, Hi. How was your day?" Amelia replied with smile.
"Wait I like your curtains where did you bought it?" Dana asked.
"At the supermarket I bought it yesterday." Amelia says.
"Really I wanna buy it too. By the way I have to go. Have a great day!" Dana
replied then she left.
Dana bought the same curtains. People surrounds them bought it too. They
really wanted to have all things that others have. They are type of people who
always wants to win over others in anything they wanted. They didn't want to be
defeated. They are competing for all the things. They became the social climbers
at the village.They are selfish to think only for themselves. Rivalry wins against
God-worship to them.
Then unexpected day come, there was an old vagrant man who are too weak.
"I-'mm begging you please h-help me. I'm weakened. I haven't eaten for days.
Please give me some water and food" the old man says in difficulties.
"You are so nasty! Get out of here!" the woman yelled at the old man.

He continue walking and asking for help until he reach the market as expected
he ask for water but he just ignored by the people and they told him to leave
because he's to dirty and too vile.
He reach the church and there he found the good mated Samaritans and gave
him a water and bread. He really happy for the goodness of couple being showed
to him.
"Thank you for helping me and showing me your kindness.You need to leave this
village because it will destroyed by the flood if the others will not reform. At 12
midnight, if you hear the roar of thunder that followed by the howl of dog, don't
look back,lets them suffer the same fate as these sinners" the old man uttered
then he left.
The husband and wife related to the people what the old man told them but they
only laugh at them.
At the midnight in the village, the roar of thunder and dog began to howl.The
husband and wife feel so nervous and they didn't really explain what they felt
inside. The husband decided to follow what the old man told them. They pack
their things and start to leave the village. When they are on their way they heard
the people screaming in pain and grief. The villagers were roused, but their cries
died down as they were submerged under the rampaging water. The woman
instinctively turned back to look at the village. They gone they are all gone.

As years went by at the place where the village sank, a beautiful lake emerged,
and is now the Camannawan Lake. They said if one who looks into the depths of
the lake, one could see the shadows of the buildings and houses of the once
prosperous village. Fishermen reported catching fishes adorned with jewels. It is
believed that these were the early inhabitants of the I'll fated-village.
Nowadays, the village sank, the Camannawan Lake emerged and are also
known as the Nalbuan Lake. The said lake have the shape of capital letter "L".
But it's not the only lake found at the place there also this one small round lake
found near the "L" shape lake.
"Why does the water didn't ooze at all grandma?" the child ask.
"It's natural dear that makes it more peaceful" the Grandma tell the child.
"This lake are really very beautiful. I've never seen lake like this beautiful. It's
amazing. Seeing it makes me feel refreshing" the child hesitated.
They went home after that.
The village are gone.Nevertheless it was replace by the Lake that was too
beautiful. It must be a beautiful disaster that happened. The near place of the
lake is where the people lived with a way of life through far

the highest rate of rice crops. People near the lake are those who have sustain
the big benefits of the lakes. In a way of getting water at the lake and put it on

their farms through the irrigation process to make growth of their plantation not
only rice but also for their fruits and vegetables. People also hook fish for dish but
not like the fish they hooked befored who have jewelries its normal fish like what
we've seen everywhere nowadays Hooking fish can help them in their every day
lives and livelihood.
The lake are really helpful to all the residents near the both Nalbuan lake. It is
believed that it's water are present for centuries. This year 2020, the said lakes
are almost to be drain for months because of drought experienced. It's not totally
drained but the water are too little compared before. This happened for the first
time within a century. Not so long ago it turns back to normal. The lake gain it's
old beauty. The lake maybe hidden behind the forest but when you see it you'll
knew the essence of 'beautiful disaster'. It's may not be one of of the most
prominent beautiful spots in the country but it has the significant and beauty that
no one could ever wonder and defeated. It was sustainable to life of every
humans near it in its own way. Nalbuan lake are the hidden asset behind the
forest that gives benefits to the farmers near it.
You will be totally amazed of it's beauty if you eyewitness that lake. The water
are clear and peaceful in its own serenity. It has the distinct view that others
doesn't have to make you feel calmness and safeties as the wind blew with
freshness. Whatever it is when you happen to be in the area take time to visit the
lake and admire it's beauty.
