2. GENERAL

The TUKAN M 1500-37 is an electric-driven, rail-mounted, multipurpose slewing Crane for harbor
operation, especially designed for fast and efficient general cargo handling including containers by
means of routable hook and spreaders and any kind of bulk by means of grabs. A motor-driven cable
reel is installed at the jib system for power feeding and controlling of such load attachments.

The crane is distinguished especially by:

 . Double-jib system

o Level luffing function: The horizontal load path during jib luffing in/out motion is realized
on a simple mechanic way. As the jib systems forms already a very liable kinematic 4-
link-chain, there is no extra need for complicated electronic controls or large wire rope
buffers requiring many maintenance.

o Short hoist rope lengths reduce load swaying even during high speed operation to a
minimum

 Very low energy consumption:

o Full electric driven - compared to hydraulic drives, AC motors do have a much higher
degree of efficiency.

o The dead weight of the jib system is already almost balanced by a moveable
counterweight. This keeps the energy consumption during luffing attractive low.

o Latest energy back-feeding system is installed on the crane: Energy being “produced”
during brake motions will be feeded back to the electric port network or used for other
consumers.

o Crane with start-stop-automatic – energy will only be consumed during working motion.

o All AC motors being used are of high efficiency class, only.

 High quality product, very long practical life time

o Made as per German quality and safety standards. Main mechanic components and
electric controls of German or West European make, only.

o Life time of more than 30-40 years already proven in practice.

Electrotechnical data

Power supply By means of flexible trailing cable and motor-driven cable reel
Total cable length For +/- 80 m travelling way
Cable trench Outside, waterside
Power supply 380 V AC, 50 Hz
Feeding net Smax = 25 MVA ta = 0,5 sec
Crane net TN-S, 50 Hz, 380 V

Installed capacity, approx. 470 kW

Mean current 530 A = 100 % ED

680 A = 60 % ED
Mean current is the sum of currents of one working cycle occuring
simultaneously during intermittent operation, without starting
currents and including the current of secondary consumers.
For this the nominal currents of the driving motors switched in
during a normal working cycle and the currents of secondary
consumers will be added up.
In case of mean current, the nominal voltage of the crane of
380 V agreed upon in a contract, must be provided at the feeding
point of the crane.
Peak current 750 A
Peak current is the sum of currents of one working cycle occuring
simultaneously during intermittent operation with consideration of
the mean starting current of the hoisting motors including the
current of secondary consumers.
