BOM Bill of material.

A listing of all the subassemblies, parts,


and/or materials that are used in the production of a
product. It includes the quantity of each material required
to make a product
BPMS Business process management system
continuous In a continuous process, materials are passed in a
process continuous flow through processing equipment. Once
established in a steady operating state, the nature of the
process is not dependent on the length of time of
operation. Start-ups, transitions and shutdowns do not
usually contribute to achieving the desired process
DC Distributed control system
DS Design specification
EAI Enterprise application integration
FAT Factory acceptance test
FS Functional specification
GAMP Good Automated Manufacturing Practice
Genealogy In manufacturing, genealogy refers to recording
the changes made in every component of a product
throughout its life
ICT Information and communication technology
ISA International Society of Automation (www.ISA.org)
MOM Manufacturing operations management
MPS Master production schedule
OEE Overall equipment effectiveness
PCS Process control system
PLC Programmable logic controller; a controller, usually
with multiple inputs and outputs, that contains an
alterable program
RFI Request for information

WIP Work in process; work in progress
