GOALS & ASSIGNMENTS

● Creating a community
○ The Plymouth Language Program is all about empowering people with knowledge and
learning about one another. .
○ We want to build your confidence. We want to provide a safe place for you to express
yourself, share your experiences, meet people with common goals, and finally learn
English!
● Set your personal goals
○ Before the first class make a list of goals you want to accomplish during this class. For
example: getting better at reading, getting better at pronunciation, making new friends,
learning about the U.S.A., or just having fun.
● There are no formal grades or tests
○ The goal of our course is to learn and become better at English. Your motivation will be
your own improvement, not getting a good grade. However, some practice tests may be
given to see how much you already know or how you have improved, as well as
reevaluate your goals.
● Classroom Journal
○ Each Tuesday you will write in your journal about what we learned in class. The journal
entries are made online. The Journal is for practicing your writing and communicating.
You can then go in and read your classmates’ work and respond
● Optional Activities
○ Your teacher may give you some optional activities to do on your own. These will be for
your own practice.
● Be ready to talk in class
○ Many activities in class involve talking and conversations. Do not worry if you make a
mistake or don’t know a word! Trying to use English and making mistakes is how we
learn! You will never be judged for making a mistake in English
