Gulliver's Character Transformation PDF

Transformation in Gulliver’s Character:
Gulliver is an honest person and he expects others to be
honest. In his first journey he possesses moral superiority to
the small Lilliputians, Gulliver wants to show us that normal
person is kind and has common sense.
In his second journey gulliver is still an ordinary person,
but brobdingnagians are gaints which represents that they
are morally good.
Gulliver character is greatly affected from his last journey
where he meets with Houyhnhnms and Yahoos. He finds that
Yahoos and Houyhnhnms fight with each other due to their
behaviours and way of life. He looks like Yahoos but he wants
to become Houyhnhnms, Gulliver refuse to accept the
aspects of Yahoos in himself. Gulliver thinks of the Yahoos as
wild and cruel. Gulliver give a reason to himself to rejecting
his own nature. He doesn’t accept the way of life of Yahoos.
He wishes to become Houyhnhnms. The Houyhnhnms
represent the reason and the Yahoos represents the
irrationality and desires of human beings. Actually swift tries
to show us the complete human being in the combination of
both Houyhnhnms and Yahoos. Gulliver wants perfectionism
in his life and for that he wants to become Houyhnhnms.
He wear clothes in front of other Houyhnhnms to hide his
Yahoo aspect from them, the clothes here represent the
second face we wear when we interact with others.
At the end Gulliver become so cruel and we can find a lot of
changes in him, He wants to reinforce his own thoughts on
his family as the Houyhnhnms tries to rule over Yahoos and
decide the future of Yahoos.
He became worse than Yahoos and Houyhnhnms, he is not
able to accept the harsh reality of this world and at the end
he live a lonely life, because he starts hating human beings.
