    IBM SPSS v24 Installation and Registration (Mac)

    The following set of instructions will walk you through installing IBM SPSS on your
    computer.

    SPSS version 24 is compatible on the following Mac Operating Systems:

    • OS Sierra 10.12
    • OS X El Capitan 10.11
    • OS X Yosemite 10.10

    We suggest that you first obtain the SPSS license code before you begin
    downloading SPSS. Obtain the SPSS license code from this link:
    http://ezp.waldenulibrary.org/limited/spsslicense.html You will need to enter your
    Walden user name and password if you are not already logged into the Library or
    Blackboard.

    Simply copy and paste the code into a Word document so that you have it available
    when prompted to enter it at the end of the installation sequence. You can always enter
    the code later; however, having it on hand to enter during the installation is much easier.

    SPSS software installation link for the MAC is given below.

    This installation requires at least 1GB of free space on your computer. Because of the
    large size of the installation file, it is recommended that you are on a DSL or better
    internet connection. Even with a strong internet connection, the installation may still take
    up to 30 minutes or longer. While the tool is installing, you may continue to work within
    other applications on your computer.

    Note: Java Runtime Environment must be installed on your computer in order for SPSS
    to run. If you experience any issues with SPSS or if you are prompted, you may install
    Java SE Runtime Environment 7u45 from the Oracle website.

    When prompted, save the file in
    the desired location on your
    computer. (Note: Depending on
    your browser, this screen may
    look a little different.) This step
    may take up to about 20
    minutes if you are on a 128
    Kbps internet connection. Once
    the file has been saved, run the
    file.

    The install wizard will appear.


    You can change your preferred
    language if desired and click
    OK.

    Navigate through the License


    Agreement screens by clicking
    Next.

    Accept the license agreement
    and click Next.

    If you do not wish to install


    “Essentials for Python”, click
    the “No” option and then the
    Next button. Python is most
    likely not needed for your
    coursework at Walden.

    Choose the desired install
    folder and click Next.

    Click Install.

    When the install is complete,


    click Done.

    SPSS will launch and you
    should see a button to “License
    Product”. If you do not see this,
    you can browse your computer
    for the licensing application. It
    will be located in the folder
    where you saved the install
    package.

    Advance through the license


    wizard. When prompted for the
    license type, choose
    “authorized user license” and
    click Next.

    If you haven’t already done so,


    obtain the SPSS license code
    from this link:
    http://ezp.waldenulibrary.org/lim
    ited/spsslicense.html
    You will need to enter your
    Walden user name and
    password if you are not already
    logged into the Library or
    Blackboard.

    Paste the Version 24 code into
    the field provided and click
    Next.

    This code will license the


    software until September 30. At
    that time, you will need to
    access the page referenced
    above to receive an updated
    license code. For instructions
    on how to update your license,
    access the following link –

    A confirmation screen should


    then be displayed. Click Finish.

    SPSS will then be ready for
    use.
