Project Synopsis

This document provides a synopsis report for an underwater real-time surveillance system submitted by 5 students to the department of electronics and communication engineering. It describes the objectives of the system as observing, analyzing, and monitoring underwater bodies to protect maritime interests and perform search and rescue operations. The methodology uses various sensors like cameras, sonar, pH sensors, and GPS transmitted to displays via WiFi to capture images, detect objects, measure water quality, and provide navigation. The system aims to explore the largely unmapped underwater domain.

ABSTRACT

The main objective of this project is to perform Deep Water Maritime Rescue
Operations and Surveillance with less human efforts. This project can be used
to keep a vigil over enemies through the water.
Being an Unmanned Submarine, it can perform tasks similar to a Submarine
by operating it from the land. It can replenish the need for Submarines which
The Indian Navy can use as the best alternative to protect India's maritime
interests.

INTRODUCTION

This device is capable of going deep inside the water bodies to share the real-
time data from inside the water body to the operators who are operating it
from the land.
Since currently, less than 10% of the global ocean is mapped using modern
sonar technology. Based on average data, continents are only about 35% has
been mapped with modern methods.
We've explored almost each and every species on the land surface but aqueous
life is still more than 95% unexplored. That’s why we need to have a greater
knowledge about water bodies like sea, rivers, lakes, ponds etc.
In the area of defence technologies, there are many possibilities in field naval
technologies for improvement by the observation of the water. Waterbody can
play a major role in the defence field as it’s almost unexplored and has too
much to explore and for the establishment of armed power underwater.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION

ENGINEERING
OBJECTIVE & SCOPE

 To observe, analyze and monitor the underwater bodies.

 To protect the Maritime Interests of India.
 To keep a vigil over enemies.
 To replenish the requirement of Submarines for the Indian Navy.
 To perform the search and rescue operations during Natural Calamity.

NEED OF THE PROJECT

This project is all about water and underwater environment, as India has a total coastline of
7516.6 km (including all Indian islands), which is more than half of the other Indian
international borders in the northern region.
India has a number of rivers as their lifeline which are serving the respective cities with their
water. There is a plethora of work to observe, analyze and protect the rivers and oceans.
India almost every year faces the problem of flood during monsoon seasons in the plane regions,
this technology will play a major role in rescue operations during natural calamity.
Under various circumstances, sometimes it becomes impossible for the underwater divers to
perform the search operations by along with the defence forces (due to the high pressure of
water, no visibility at night or even due to polluted water bodies) this technology can play a
major role under these challenging conditions.

METHODOLOGY
This submarine setup is a normal prototype mechanical body with advance embedded feature consist of
multiple sensors in it.

 Camera will capture real time image and video from the submarine that will be transmitted via
wireless Wi-Fi technology to our display device.

 SONAR will detect the objects during darker surroundings or lower visibility. SONAR will give
us accuracy in respect of the distance of any object which is visible by camera. Transmitted
SONAR image will also be received by our display devices via wireless Wi-Fi technology.

 During night time, Night Sight Camera will play a major role for the same purpose, along with
camera and SONAR; its image will also be received by wireless process on our display device.
 The pH electrode will measure the pH value of that particular level of water, which will indicate
the purity of water at instant. And the reading will be received on our display devices via
wireless method.

 Thermo sensor will measure the temperature of the water at particular level; the instant real time
temperature will be displayed on the display devices via wireless method.

 GPS module will provide us a navigation support with real time location on digital map to
perform various operations on a larger scale.
