1.0 INTRODUCTION
The following instructions are aim to highlight the methodology of how the operations as
listed on the work method statement COMPANY-SAMSUNG-WMS01 Rev-01 Dated 26-
11-10 are to be performed.

The procedure has prepared with reference of SAMSUNG - INTERNAL INSTALLATION -


(SC2252 OpaL DFCU and AU) _Rev03 for which the work is to be completed is as
detailed on work method statement COMPANY-SULFUR-WMS01 Rev-01 Dated 23-10-
10.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

Details of the columns

 11-CC-301, Caustic Scrubber

Number and Type of Trays : Companyanting trays – 1 to 4 (already welded at


shop)

Valve Trays – 5-14, 15-32 and 33 to 36 –

Total 32 Nos (inclusive of truncated D/c)

Chimney Trays – 2 nos (already welded at shop)

MOC of Internals/Trays : SA 240 Gr 304/316

Diameter of Column : 4650 mm

3.0 LIFTING TO / FROM THE COLUMN


A mechanical pulley, rope and winch will be used to facilitate to lift the tray parts up to the
manhole.

The lifting area will have a barrier to prohibit unauthorised entry, and for safety
precautions during lifting operations.

4.0 INTERNAL SCAFFOLDING

The location of the internal scaffolding platforms is as detailed on the table below.

5.0 Work Methodology


Entry into the column will only be carried out, once the permit has been issued and a full
understanding of the requirements to all involved persons.

At all times a working standby man is too located on the column. Entry into the column
will be strictly controlled by use of signing-in system to check everyone in and out.

5.1 Vessel Entry Check

5.2 METHODOLOGY

 Manhole opening.

 Gas test.

 Column entry with VALID PERMIT.

 Companyanting trays in the bottom section are already welded at shop.

 Internal scaffolding above companyanting tray no.4 (approximately 5


mtrs).

 Installation of seal pan and feed pipe below tray no 5.

 Installation of trays #5 to 14.

 Chimney tray above tray #14 is already welded at shop.

 Installation of feed box as per drawing.

 Installation of seal pan below tray no #15 as per drawing..

 Installation of Tray No. 15 to 32 as per drawing..

 Installation of demister as per drawing..

 Installation of spray header as per drawing..

 Chimney tray above tray #32 is already welded at shop.

 Installation of tray # 33 to 36 as per drawing..

 Installation of demister as per drawing.

During installation the following instructions are to be strictly


followed.

 Some of positive fastening clips are remained as welded. If the clips are
welded, there may be a fouling during installation of UDF panel. In that
case, UDF panel shall be positioned through down-comer area of the

upper tray and balance clips shall be welded on support ring after
installation.

 Feed box for N06 and N04 will be loosely delivered (Not yet fixed). They
shall be installed at site. The direction of expanded metal shall be
checked as per drawings carefully. When a pen is put through the
expanded metal in the direction of flow, if it goes smoothly, then its
direction is correct, if not smoothly inserted then wrong direction.

 This equipment has 2 demisters. They shall be installed / removed from


the below.

 Spray distributor at nozzles N07.1 & N07.2 shall be carefully installed and
the dimension from top of packing to bottom tip of spray nozzle shall be
maintained as specified in drawing.

 Reverse flow trays in the top section are special type of trays i.e. with
truncated down comers. The correct orientation of these trays shall be
ensured based on nozzle N09, as specified in drawings.

 Wherever down pipes from top tray or feed box or feed pipe is feeding
liquid to bottom tray or distributor, the clearance from tip of feed pipe to
top of tray below shall be maintained as specified in the drawing.
